Drummer is the coolest! This is an amazing array of talent. Makes me so happy to have lived during the same generation of musicians! I just went to a Jazzfest to see Ali Ryerson, world renowned flautist and Downbeat's top choices in their annual poll. I'm going to be 73 in May, 2024. Say it with music!
you prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my password. I would love any help you can give me
@Grayson Beckett Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
In 1973 madison square garden Aug 24.. CTI was Herbie Hancock, Hubert Laws, Stanley Turentine, Grover Washington, Billy Cobham, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Farrel, Ester Phillips, a big mix..Bob james, Airto Morrera, Johnny Hammond Smith, ..all on one stage..

Whether as ensemble leaders, arrangers, conductors, or session sidemen, their work will always be a foundation for the music to come. Big thanks for posting this! Meanwhile, the crappiest nasty new hip-hop release will chalk-up 100MILLION views in no time, while this one has 10,000 . . sad! (update: well it’s five years later, thankfully lots more views around here. And the ACTUAL nastiest crappiest hip-hop song recently DID rack up 100 million views folks!)
@@MyRackley on the other hand, from the viewpoint of an older lifelong Jazz musician seeing the decline of musical standards… as a music teacher seeing 10-year-old girl students casually singing X-rated hip-hop… and as a long time aficionado of jazz/R&B/gospel/blues, Watching hip-hop take over as the new “black music” is all a significant reason to be concerned and speak out don’t you think?

Sérgio Morais you are correct, sir! O---M----G! The CTI years were a big influence on me, and I was so lucky to have been at an early-70's concert in L.A., maybe the Palladium. Freddie Hubbard and Stanley Turrentine were two of the big stars then. And Hubert, what an incredible lasting talent and virtuoso he is! I'm still trying to master my flute embouchure along with my flugelhorn and alto sax, and still find it so challenging!
Funny you should mention that! I'm currently on a new Hubert Laws kick, learning Joe Samples' "It Happens Every Day." Laws played on his own version, Samples', and Jazz Crusaders too . . .
Wow, so happy to have found this. Fantastic performance, this band is killing! You guys know if there's more footage? Would be great to hear them doing "sunshine alley" of some of the "straight life" record
I saw the Originals at the Balboa Bowl in San Diego when I got back from Vietnam in '73. It won;t ever get no better than that, but be thankful you still got Hubert and Airto. And Red Clay.
Brian Lynch is terrific!
That guy sounds as close to Freddie Hubbard as I've heard in years.... TONE!!!!!!!
Great Vibe! The cat´s helping each other out to make the music happen. This is why I love to
see live performances.
so nice ... 🎉🎉🎉
what a line up!
So nice....🌺
What a great performance by some of the world's best.

Laws on All Blues, yes! Amazing
Gotta love red clay, what a great cover of a great original tune
Sem comentários. Simplesmente M A R A V I L H O S O. Pra quem acompanha a história dessas feras.

We're so lucky being in that musical era! I got to see the Jazz Crusaders once at tiny Shelly's Manhole in L.A., maybe '61 or so, my idols!
Thank you for sharing - I just missed it on TV.
REAL GOOD!
this is so much fun to listen to. Thanks for sharing this one!
Great sounds. Trumpet ya mon.
Russell Malone is kicking the doors in starting around the 26:00 mark
After Cobham there was Jack DeJohnette.. then I lost track till found this one...the band is cooking...

Me apena mucho.
So, is that an Otto Link on the Tenor. I love that tone! Meaty, but has a gravelly edge sitting subtly underneath it.
billion genius yeah pretty sure that’s an Otto Link but probably a more vintage piece.

Bolun Deng Russell Malone. :)
This sounds like the old "JAZZ AT THE PHILHARMIC"

For the first 28 seconds does anyone know that song I need to know it like now I am fiending
Herbie Hancock - Cantaloupe Island
Exciting sounds - if you don't move to this you just won't respond to anything.
I left out deodato, antonio carlos jobim, Astrud Gilberto
No Ron Carter and George Benson???
Freedom Explorer :
No Stanley Turrentine No CTI Grover Washington - - -they might have already departed for the spiritual realm somewhere beyond.
