This game made me realize something that completely disproved all my views about high-level TvP plays. First, we thought that the "Slight Disadvantage" was a meme, right? I firmly believe this is true at first but gets disproved at margin time. Look, at the start of all matches, Doremy was kinda hitting it hard, using the speed cap Puyo has that SSENRED was working with to their advantage by constant barrages of attacks. However, as shown by the third round, the odds start edging towards Puyo the longer the game goes. The same Power 2/3 chains quickly counter Doremy's attacks at lategame and send still considerable damage enough to force downstack, but the same thing requires somewhere like a Power 4 or larger to do the same at early game. Heck, at the really late parts of the third round, Puyo just starts overpowering Tetris. Anyone got thoughts?
I play Tetris no matter what. My Puyo is decent but not enough to beat a Core CPU 3-0 let alone a human player. I do like your explanation, it makes sense.
The main thing is that PPT2 made it a little bit easier for the Puyo player in a PVT scenario to survive, tetris can still place quickly, but not quite as quickly as they could in ppt1, which basically let them just command the garbage field almost at will against anyone who was not of equal skill in puyo. Margin time exists in ppt1 as well but good tetris players could just completely shut out a puyo player before margin time really became relevant.
Never in my life have I ever tried to root for both sides at the same time during a game. How can 2 simple dynamically different puzzle games would be this engaging competitively?
@@烽火寒冰 In a c4w-c4w stall battle, usually the player who moves first loses because by sending lines, you can give the opponent more ammo in the form of garbage holes. In c4w vs T-spins (which you should not do-you are better off learning c4w so you can counter it), once the 4w starts sending lines, it’s good to wait so that you can use your T-spin to cancel garbage, because 4w garbage is very messy and that’s bad to play with. Against puyo, the stalling is probably for the same reason: waiting to cancel garbage so you can maintain a clean board state.
I feel like puyo players have it a bit easy sometimes. Like yeah it takes skill but being able to completely destroy a t-spin double then a back to back tetris with a 5 or so chain is just kinda whack to me. May just be my opinion tho
My daily dose of tetris content despite being awful at the game
Same

The Puyo player prefers smart, planned gameplay
The Tetris player prefers 7 lines of coke
As a Tetris main, I can confirm.
As another Tetris main I can double confirm
That was the single most earned victory I've ever seen. Man was fighting for his life the ENTIRE game.
GGs to both competitors, was a nice watch.
7:15 that worked out way too well, I would never even think of trying that
That’s normal doremy stuff
The forbidden L spin triple
doesn't seem to work on other tetris games; not supported by their kick table
these t-spin setups are beyond my comprehension

Don't know. I try to avoid PvT set ups

I'd say that misdrop from Doremy at 2:47 caused to lose the pace. Both players are extremely skilled, even under a lot of pressure.

idk man i only think that it doesn't make sense that an 8 combo from tetris is countered by a 2 chain from puyo... (7:32)
Watching doremy makes me forget that official games have a static aar and das
The great thing about those close matches is that you can watch it twice and look at a different player the second time :)
Amazing match
Well done doremy, you did the secreg T-Spin Double setup
I watch Doremy to humble myself.
This felt tense all the thru.
Fantastic!
it didn't seem like either of you made a single mistake in the last round. ridiculously good performance
I appreciate that you upload good matches regardless if you win or lose in the end. Subscribed.
And welcome back to another episode of *japanese screaming*
once again: nobody is allowed to call tetris OR puyo unbalanced after watching this
Wellllllll
this one (1) game
I mean it still is because of how bad puyos rng can be, if its balanced like tetris rng then it'll be balanced
Never in my life have I ever tried to root for both sides at the same time during a game. How can 2 simple dynamically different puzzle games would be this engaging competitively?
I’ve only known this competitive tetris and whatever the game is on the right for one day, but fuck, that game on the right is so anxiety inducing
:O That first round was incredible. Tetris has been feeling kinda stale for me but that first round revitalized my interest
Great match. As a Puyo main, watching SSENRED had me stressed for him.
C'est tellement impressionnant de voir un joueur de Tetris maîtriser son tableau, ça me donne encore plus envie de m'améliorer!

Very intense battle
Wtf
Im actually curious, is this a strat or something? Cuz I often see players like Doremy and Amemiya do this against puyo and 4w

Tetris receiving 2 perfect clears: literally dead if not countered
Puyo receiving 2 perfect clears: Oh no! Anyway

Imagine it would have all the puyo color and all the puyo form how the puyo player would be in a very big disadvantage
2 PERFECT CLEARS IN A ROW?!

The Tetris player is at a slight disadvantage.
how did puyo become a comp game anyways?
if you c4w, would you win? or c4w gets nerfed on ppt2?
Dont worry c4w is still bs
the description is very sad :(
Ich schreib jetzt einfach auf Deutsch.

If you say Tetris is disadvantage. Your wrong.
