  • In this 2006 interview with WKNO producer Pierre Kimsey, Dixie Carter talks about the special qualities of smalltown Tennessee that have kept her close to home. She was instrumental in helping the town of Huntingdon, TN, build a first-class performing arts center, which was named in her honor in 2005 and is now known simply as "The Dixie." I agree with her. I feel the same way about my hometown in the south as she does...people just arent as kind and that really does make a difference.

The southern town that I grew up in has lost a lot of its southern charm over the last 12 years or so. We have had a large influx of illegal immigrants flood this area. I long for the days of old.
