Still worth it for me. Samsung makes the best android tablets. The software and hardware are second to none. Its better the the iPad. I have bought the S7 Plus and it has since replaced my laptop and pc. And I dont think its a mistake as numbers say otherwise. All tablets from the S7 line sold well and have good sales numbers.
I just bought the S7+ recently for school and got a Bluetooth keyboard since I've come to prefer tablets over standard laptops even though the differences are marginal at best. So far I'm loving it and got it about for 550 after a trade in of my Note 9 and some rewards i had saved up. Plus got the Galaxy Buds pro for free so saved about as much money as I spent nearly with all deals and savings added together. Granted it's the 128gb with I think 6gb of ram standard. All in all with Dex Mode it's a great bargain.

Not related to the videos, but it reminds me of my dad buying a guitar for my brother. When choosing a guitar, the shop staff recommended a guitar and tested it in front of us. My dad said to us while looking at the guitar "what is the point of buying expensive-sounding guitar if the user produces more awful sounds?". My dad said it to me and my brother, but we noticed that the shop staff's facial reaction suddenly looks upset and stop chatting with us. On the way home, my dad keep laughing about it, what he said at the shop was pointed out to us, but the shop staff was the one offended.
I purchased the S7 SE before I saw your video as I wondered If I did wrong. Now happy with my purchase as I wanted it mainly for keyboard lessons and downloading sheet music. The large screen is easier on my eyes and can now but the Tab on the music stand as I could not the my laptop. I find it really responsive reading emails although that's not what I bought it for. Utube is very good. I am eighty years old and not too up with tech. Enjoyed your video , now back to the keyboard lessons. Roy
I purchase the S-fe at Costco, not knowing about the differences, but honstly for my purposes it seems good enough which is reading sheet music. But surprisingly, it seems like it will be viable as a laptop substiture. The keyboard on the cover seems to work nicely and never use trackpads anyway.
I went with a S7 Plus exactly for the reason you mentioned - could get it close to the same price as the FE, got more RAM, better display, better processor
Rear facing cameras on tablets has substantial uses not only for video/photography editors but also note takers such as myself. + Illustrating notes and capture physical documents to markup + touch and go jobs e.g. taking a photo marking it with important points and then sending to colleagues. + more convenient to take a snap with your tablet already in hand instead of having to whip out a phone, then manage the photo/vid sync across devices.
Love your videos... Only complaint... when talking about the displays... tough to see any difference if you are showing different images/screens. I noticed the S7+ always had a crisp dark image with bright colors, and the FE always had a light image with very little to show the depth of the display.
Thanks for a great video, really good comparison. Interesting point about release date of the FE and the availability of 7+ models for not too much more $$$. Agreed, however I've been looking at the Samsung website and they have deep discounts as well as trade-ins on old devices. I can get a new FE this week for $220 if I trade in an older tab, that sounds like a killer deal to me. Many thanks again for your terrific analysis.
Great vid, just one tip: you sometimes say "milliamps per hour" which implies mA/h, but the actual measurement of charge storage is "milliamp hours" which is mA*h
I absolutely love your videos, and will continue watching them. One suggestion I have for you: while you're comparing specs between models, showing the data in a table layout would make it much easier to follow along and compare for us viewers. Then you wouldn't have to film B roll footage for the background either, making less work for you as well! Just a suggestion, keep up the great work!
What I think is more important to mention is that Samsung has upped the price of the Tab S7 and S7+ so that more people buy the inferior S7 FE which wasn't selling as well. This is a horrible business tactic and there is no way I can justify purchasing a product marketed as being inferior that only has a TFT screen and a much worse processor. I hate the direction Samsung is going in nowadays. I'd still rather pay a premium for a device with a high end processor and an OLED screen especially if it is intended to be a device as powerful as a laptop and possibly even a laptop replacement. The S7 FE fails in all of those areas because of the display and processor which are both severely lacking
This is exactly what I was considering, I'm a highschooler with enough to purchase the FE but am rethinking because I saw the huge price difference between the same model Gen s7's. I will stay saving for the s7+ thanks to the video and all these helpful comments
My vision must really be crap because I looked at a s7 Fe in store today and the display looked fantastic. It's very pretty and crisp. Is the 7+ that much better? If it is then it must be truly something. Great video btw.
that's the same type of display you find on every iPad, except the 2021 12.9, and on most laptops. I wouldn't call it ancient tech by any stretch, more like the most widespread type of screen around. The issue is probably the naming, since people sometimes confuse TFT with TN, while here we are talking of what other OEMs call IPS, but not Samsung, to avoid paying royalties to LG, who owns the IPS name
I just got a new S7+ tab, tab looks awesome, probably in par with ipa pro , but the pen isn't as durable a apple pencil. My kid accidently hit the nib into hard surface and it's not completely useless
Same. Am using s6 lite and I dropped my s pen from a coffee table height on a carpet floor and it causes the cursor to deviate from the pen nib so it'll be inaccurate all the time. Im guessing the ferromagnet is broken, although its usable.

@@soundbydesignindia3730 Fe is like lite version with just good screen experience and not for heavy or multi tasking. I'm using my s7+ as my drawing tablet using Virtual Tablet software and it's quite smooth. Also using multiple apps simultaneously.
I bought the S7+ but thought it was able to connect with my 5G carrier then found out it's only WiFi. So I am sadly returning it and just purchased the S7 FE 5G. I don't need all the bells and whistles but I will miss the 4 speakers, 128GB storage, and Super Amoled display. Getting FE new for $265 vs S7+ for $850. This video helped confirm my choice. Very helpful!! For the FE price if and when S8.comes out I will have to reassess but not freak out to upgrade. BTW I tried to buy 5G S7+ and it's out of stock.
Been considering buying a tablet but now that I've gotten the batteries of my laptop stylus replaced I no longer think I need one (my current laptop turns into a tablet), but I might get one in a few years. Still, watching these reviews is always fun :P

Actually dex is good but not desktop replacement If you are on a budget go for the fe The both models have larger models so depends Multitasking is not issue in my s7+ can run a few apps like zoom, whatsapp, RUclips,notes and calculator open simultaneously I had no issue whatsoever ( I work load doesn't even make it sweat! ) If going entertainment pov go for S7+ But my recommendation S7 fe
Similar case in my country (~800 vs ~1200 in USD). And we don't have crazy sales and for the s7/s7+ like in the US so the FE was relatively still a great buy for what I'm gonna use it for. Kinda miss the fingerprint sensor tho
I bought my Tab S7+ before the FE model came out. Had I waited, I would probably have gone with the FE despite the flaws. The whole reason I was willing to spend so much on the S7+ is that I sometimes have to read small text in PDF documents or e-textbooks, and the typical 10 inch tablets are just a little too small for my aging eyes when it comes to small text in such documents, which results in a lot of extra pinching and zooming. A lot of reviewers don't seem to talk about how great the S7+ is at displaying small text in PDF documents, e-textbooks, and digital comics. If you're interested in such things, it's amazing. The brightness doesn't matter to me at all given that I almost never use my tablet outdoors, but the difference in resolution is a big deal to me because of the small text issue. The speakers on the S7+ are indeed amazing, but to be honest, if I'm concerned about sound quality, I generally use a set of circumaural headphones. The 120 Hz display is great, but I like the improved battery life better, so I almost never turn it on. All in all, if I were buying a tablet today, I would go with the FE despite the lower resolution.
I bought S7 FE and i'm glad i did.The battery life is amazing.I'm using the tablet almost all day long and there is still %20 to go.The screen quality is also good too.I'm using a phone that has amoled screen and it didn't bothered me at all using TFT screen.

I know im abit late to the party but ive just got a brand new S7 FE w/ 128gb 6gbRAM, a samsung 128gb memory card and the official Samsung book cover keyboard cover (which are being sold separately 150 brand new in some places) (forgot to mention that I also got a 7 way adapter that plugs into the FE, with a HDMI, 3x USB3 ports, a USB C Port and a Micro SD slot (and the bigger memory card slot) on it. and I got all of it and paid £380 in the UK (obviously on a deal on their website) soon as I saw it I went down to their shop (PC World/Currys) to buy it, but IN-Store the standard 64 GB was on display with a price tag of £519, I told the guy working their and at first he was clueless and diddnt believe me till I showed him, he told me "that cant be right, then practically ran off lol" so I ordered it from my phone on the spot for delivery. I got it not so long ago and im so happy with it (even though I'm typing this on my phone... but im not bringing my brand new tablet into my bathroom lol. its Amazing, and actually allot faster than I expected and responsive, I've never had the luxury of owning an SPen but WOW! I'm blown away by it, especially when I'm playing about with 2D/3D Animation not sure if the deal is still on but get yourself over to there website if you think its a good price, just thought I'd mention this because the prices are allover the place with the videos im watching. Edit- I got the WiFi version as I don't plan on going pokemon hunting with this! it stays at home for now and even without WiFi it still has everything I need on it.
At Brazil the FE goes for less than half the price. USD 1420 for the 7+ and USD 680 for FE 128 gb version. When you take into account that 680 USD is 3x our minimum salary... I think FE it's the better choice
Similar pricing in South Africa too. Just got the FE it included the keyboard cover and buds 2. I think it also depends what you use it for. I basically only use teams, outlook, one drive, office and noteshelf. And the FE is perfect for it. if you're a gamer or use editing app which needs more processing power and better display then the upgrade may be worth it
I just got a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 inch and do enjoy it. I’m super worried about it bending tho. Considering returning it and getting the tab s7 FE. I have the tab s6 lite and can see myself just using the tab s7 FE.

I got the Samsung Galaxy s7 fe (without 5G and cellular. Mine is mystic pink and it's 64 GB) and I couldn't be happier. Granted it was for school, so I didn't worry about the gaming and taking photos capability. The battery life is really long, and I don't have to charge the s-pen so I'm glad I didn't buy the s7 plus. I bought two bluetooth keyboards that weren't associated with Samsung and they're working perfectly. I have beats headphones and they work so well with the s7 fe (there's no headphone jack on both of these devices so I use bluetooth headphones.) For two speakers, the sound is wonderful. So I'd say buy the s7 fe since it's cheaper. It's only $379.99 on Amazon right now (1/30/22.) This was a very good video, man. Thanks for being thorough.

Unfortunately, my country the s7 and s7+ is still expensive...s7 (got like USD250 difference) while s7+ (got like USD500 difference) thats why ended up with s7 FE

In India im getting S7 FE (4GB Ram) for Rs 37000 (500 US Dollars) and S7 PLUS (6GB Ram) for Rs 53000 (710 Us Dollars). Should I save 200 Dollars and get FE. I am a law student, and am not going to use the tab for drawing/etc. But I do appreciate a good display!

Personally I watched this video just for the sake of it, I have a S7 tablet and a iPad Pro M1 I don't think I would ever go to the S7 FE or the S7+ the real estate is just fine for me, for many years I have kept to using iPad Mini's and smaller 8 inch tablets I just have found the need to have more performance lately, at the end of the day I am keen to see where the FE fits in the Australian line up. I think the prices are fairly competitive in Australia where we've seen the base model of the wifi S7 drop to $849.00 from $1149.00 on sale

In the UK.... If you're a student S7+ 256Gb Wifi is £625 (£243 off). The S7 FE 128GB WiFi is £475 (£83 off). This makes the S7+ even more worth it unless you simply don't have that kind of money... Even better is the S7 128Gb WiFi at £441 (£177.85 off). I'm buying one for my family member as a gift for Uni.

Just got a base FE 33% off at BestBuy which I think should be the real price. And they should have called it AE, for ''Artist Edition'' because its basically a canvas on the go at 12'' with a good pen and not much tech bells and whistle to keep price low.
As of today my S7+ began screen flickering to the point it's totally unresponsive.....cost hundreds to fix it ....this tablet last 2 years to the date ...I'm not looking forward to buying another tablet from Samsung....I have a Galaxy Tab Pro with android 4.11 and been working for a decade in my kitchen .....how is that possible....very disappointed with the beautiful S7+
You should notice the difference in batterylife with the 60 vs 120hz screen. This is really noticable as i read reviews on websites. So FE for me, yes the screen is little less good but 60hz is enough for me. S7+ is another 200 EUR onto the FE price. Is not worth it for my personal taste.
Luv the tab s7 FE, great quality device with great stylus & 12.5 inch screen vs tab7 small screen, + the super cheap price of 2nd hand -45%off in excellent brand new condition, as samsung devices are always poor in resale values. Using it for fast executing forex trading in MT4 since IOS removed & banned MT4. Next upgrade would be 2nd hand tab s8+ or tabs8 ultra.

There will always be an advantage with newer technologies, to get a better perspective go a read the glowing reviews of phones from around 5 (or 10) years ago - you'll end up buying one of those - "Samsung implemented a 4-core version of the Mali-400 in the 4210 and its resulting performance is staggering" LMAO! Engineers designing these devices are well aware of the compromises they have to make, but their marketing department is never going to tell you how the cost cutting will affect your experience. Buy the best you can afford and throw it away the moment a better device arrives (of course, make sure you you have plenty of money). 😂
I own a galaxy tab S7+, but I would choose a galaxy tab S7 over a S7 FE if I had to buy a tablet today. My second choice would be a galaxy tab S6 lite.

Will you cover the rumored s8 line which will according to rumours have a 14.6 inch s8 ultra with the thinnest bezels on any tablet and will supposedly have the top of the line snapdragon 898.
For me, the deal breaker is the speaker setup, screen quality, refresh rate, battery life/charging speed and fingerprint sensor. Let's face it. Most people aren't content creators or hardcore gamers and use their tablets mostly for watching videos, social media, school, games.

Agreed, however I've been looking at the Samsung website and they have deep discounts as well as trade-ins on old devices. You're paying for a good performance bump, which helps with things like heavy multitasking and emulation

One suggestion I have for you: while you're comparing specs between models, showing the data in a table layout would make it much easier to follow along and compare for us viewers. Then you wouldn't have to film B roll footage for the background either, making less work for you as well!

What I think is more important to mention is that Samsung has upped the price of the Tab S7 and S7+ so that more people buy the inferior S7 FE which wasn't selling as well. This is a horrible business tactic and there is no way I can justify purchasing a product marketed as being inferior that only has a TFT screen and a much worse processor. I hate the direction Samsung is going in nowadays. I'd still rather pay a premium for a device with a high end processor and an OLED screen especially if it is intended to be a device as powerful as a laptop and possibly even a laptop replacement. The S7 FE fails in all of those areas because of the display and processor which are both severely lacking
This is exactly what I was considering, I'm a highschooler with enough to purchase the FE but am rethinking because I saw the huge price difference between the same model Gen s7's. I will stay saving for the s7+ thanks to the video and all these helpful comments
My vision must really be crap because I looked at a s7 Fe in store today and the display looked fantastic. It's very pretty and crisp. Is the 7+ that much better? If it is then it must be truly something. Great video btw.
The FE model has a TFT display which is ancient tech. For that price they should have included an AMOLED display.

that's the same type of display you find on every iPad, except the 2021 12.9, and on most laptops. I wouldn't call it ancient tech by any stretch, more like the most widespread type of screen around. The issue is probably the naming, since people sometimes confuse TFT with TN, while here we are talking of what other OEMs call IPS, but not Samsung, to avoid paying royalties to LG, who owns the IPS name

I just got a new S7+ tab, tab looks awesome, probably in par with ipa pro , but the pen isn't as durable a apple pencil. My kid accidently hit the nib into hard surface and it's not completely useless

Same. Am using s6 lite and I dropped my s pen from a coffee table height on a carpet floor and it causes the cursor to deviate from the pen nib so it'll be inaccurate all the time. Im guessing the ferromagnet is broken, although its usable.

@@soundbydesignindia3730 Fe is like lite version with just good screen experience and not for heavy or multi tasking. I'm using my s7+ as my drawing tablet using Virtual Tablet software and it's quite smooth. Also using multiple apps simultaneously.
I bought the S7+ but thought it was able to connect with my 5G carrier then found out it's only WiFi. So I am sadly returning it and just purchased the S7 FE 5G. I don't need all the bells and whistles but I will miss the 4 speakers, 128GB storage, and Super Amoled display. Getting FE new for $265 vs S7+ for $850. This video helped confirm my choice. Very helpful!! For the FE price if and when S8.comes out I will have to reassess but not freak out to upgrade. BTW I tried to buy 5G S7+ and it's out of stock.
Been considering buying a tablet but now that I've gotten the batteries of my laptop stylus replaced I no longer think I need one (my current laptop turns into a tablet), but I might get one in a few years. Still, watching these reviews is always fun :P

Multitasking is not issue in my s7+ can run a few apps like zoom, whatsapp, RUclips,notes and calculator open simultaneously I had no issue whatsoever ( I work load doesn't even make it sweat! )

here in europe, FE 64GB cost me 540$ (with 24% VAT included), while the S7+ cost 900$ brand new.
This lol. The 7+ costs upwards of 150$ more here (Portugal) too.
Similar case in my country (~800 vs ~1200 in USD). And we don't have crazy sales and for the s7/s7+ like in the US so the FE was relatively still a great buy for what I'm gonna use it for. Kinda miss the fingerprint sensor tho

I bought my Tab S7+ before the FE model came out. Had I waited, I would probably have gone with the FE despite the flaws.
The whole reason I was willing to spend so much on the S7+ is that I sometimes have to read small text in PDF documents or e-textbooks, and the typical 10 inch tablets are just a little too small for my aging eyes when it comes to small text in such documents, which results in a lot of extra pinching and zooming.
A lot of reviewers don't seem to talk about how great the S7+ is at displaying small text in PDF documents, e-textbooks, and digital comics. If you're interested in such things, it's amazing.
The brightness doesn't matter to me at all given that I almost never use my tablet outdoors, but the difference in resolution is a big deal to me because of the small text issue.
The speakers on the S7+ are indeed amazing, but to be honest, if I'm concerned about sound quality, I generally use a set of circumaural headphones.
The 120 Hz display is great, but I like the improved battery life better, so I almost never turn it on.
All in all, if I were buying a tablet today, I would go with the FE despite the lower resolution.

I bought S7 FE and i'm glad i did.The battery life is amazing.I'm using the tablet almost all day long and there is still %20 to go.The screen quality is also good too.I'm using a phone that has amoled screen and it didn't bothered me at all using TFT screen.

I know im abit late to the party but ive just got a brand new S7 FE w/ 128gb 6gbRAM, a samsung 128gb memory card and the official Samsung book cover keyboard cover (which are being sold separately 150 brand new in some places) (forgot to mention that I also got a 7 way adapter that plugs into the FE, with a HDMI, 3x USB3 ports, a USB C Port and a Micro SD slot (and the bigger memory card slot) on it.
and I got all of it and paid £380 in the UK (obviously on a deal on their website) soon as I saw it I went down to their shop (PC World/Currys) to buy it, but IN-Store the standard 64 GB was on display with a price tag of £519, I told the guy working their and at first he was clueless and diddnt believe me till I showed him, he told me "that cant be right, then practically ran off lol"
so I ordered it from my phone on the spot for delivery.
I got it not so long ago and im so happy with it (even though I'm typing this on my phone... but im not bringing my brand new tablet into my bathroom lol.
its Amazing, and actually allot faster than I expected and responsive, I've never had the luxury of owning an SPen but WOW! I'm blown away by it, especially when I'm playing about with 2D/3D Animation

USD 1420 for the 7+ and USD 680 for FE 128 gb version. When you take into account that 680 USD is 3x our minimum salary... I think FE it's the better choice
Similar pricing in South Africa too. Just got the FE it included the keyboard cover and buds 2. I think it also depends what you use it for. I basically only use teams, outlook, one drive, office and noteshelf. And the FE is perfect for it. if you're a gamer or use editing app which needs more processing power and better display then the upgrade may be worth it

I just got a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 inch and do enjoy it. I’m super worried about it bending tho. Considering returning it and getting the tab s7 FE. I have the tab s6 lite and can see myself just using the tab s7 FE.

Spot on everything especially on the timing issue as the FE gets 3 years of updates and the 7+ gets 4 years so they end up being about the same time.
I got the Samsung Galaxy s7 fe (without 5G and cellular. Mine is mystic pink and it's 64 GB) and I couldn't be happier. Granted it was for school, so I didn't worry about the gaming and taking photos capability. The battery life is really long, and I don't have to charge the s-pen so I'm glad I didn't buy the s7 plus. I bought two bluetooth keyboards that weren't associated with Samsung and they're working perfectly. I have beats headphones and they work so well with the s7 fe (there's no headphone jack on both of these devices so I use bluetooth headphones.) For two speakers, the sound is wonderful. So I'd say buy the s7 fe since it's cheaper. It's only $379.99 on Amazon right now (1/30/22.) This was a very good video, man. Thanks for being thorough.

Personally I watched this video just for the sake of it, I have a S7 tablet and a iPad Pro M1 I don't think I would ever go to the S7 FE or the S7+ the real estate is just fine for me, for many years I have kept to using iPad Mini's and smaller 8 inch tablets I just have found the need to have more performance lately, at the end of the day I am keen to see where the FE fits in the Australian line up. I think the prices are fairly competitive in Australia where we've seen the base model of the wifi S7 drop to $849.00 from $1149.00 on sale

That has not been my experience. Now that I've tested both, I'm seeing 2678 vs 2845. So it's better, by about 6.3%. I will continue to run tests.

In the UK.... If you're a student S7+ 256Gb Wifi is £625 (£243 off). The S7 FE 128GB WiFi is £475 (£83 off). This makes the S7+ even more worth it unless you simply don't have that kind of money... Even better is the S7 128Gb WiFi at £441 (£177.85 off). I'm buying one for my family member as a gift for Uni.

As of today my S7+ began screen flickering to the point it's totally unresponsive.....cost hundreds to fix it ....this tablet last 2 years to the date ...I'm not looking forward to buying another tablet from Samsung....I have a Galaxy Tab Pro with android 4.11 and been working for a decade in my kitchen .....how is that possible....very disappointed with the beautiful S7+
You should notice the difference in batterylife with the 60 vs 120hz screen. This is really noticable as i read reviews on websites. So FE for me, yes the screen is little less good but 60hz is enough for me. S7+ is another 200 EUR onto the FE price. Is not worth it for my personal taste.

Luv the tab s7 FE, great quality device with great stylus & 12.5 inch screen vs tab7 small screen, + the super cheap price of 2nd hand -45%off in excellent brand new condition, as samsung devices are always poor in resale values. Using it for fast executing forex trading in MT4 since IOS removed & banned MT4. Next upgrade would be 2nd hand tab s8+ or tabs8 ultra.

There will always be an advantage with newer technologies, to get a better perspective go a read the glowing reviews of phones from around 5 (or 10) years ago - you'll end up buying one of those - "Samsung implemented a 4-core version of the Mali-400 in the 4210 and its resulting performance is staggering" LMAO! Engineers designing these devices are well aware of the compromises they have to make, but their marketing department is never going to tell you how the cost cutting will affect your experience. Buy the best you can afford and throw it away the moment a better device arrives (of course, make sure you you have plenty of money). 😂

I own a galaxy tab S7+, but I would choose a galaxy tab S7 over a S7 FE if I had to buy a tablet today. My second choice would be a galaxy tab S6 lite.

confirmation bias in this review, I think the reviewer needs to retest the gamelay lag issue without knowing the tablet in use being known.
Will you cover the rumored s8 line which will according to rumours have a 14.6 inch s8 ultra with the thinnest bezels on any tablet and will supposedly have the top of the line snapdragon 898.
I don't think this is a rumors channel, but I have no doubt he will cover the S8 ultra when it comes out

For me, the deal breaker is the speaker setup, screen quality, refresh rate, battery life/charging speed and fingerprint sensor.
Let's face it. Most people aren't content creators or hardcore gamers and use their tablets mostly for watching videos, social media, school, games.
