As a 24 year old, I think I just witnessed one of the in my eyes most adorable ways of communicating with children. You’re not changing you’re voice that much, not talking childy things only, taking you’re son seriously with what he has to say. I will save this video to remind me of this when I, one day, hopefully will be on a hiking trip with my own kids :) lovely content!
Just don't talk to your kid like they're a Golden Retriever and they will end up being able to talk properly and more "grown up". This also means they won't get frustrated when trying to talk to explain something to you. My daughter is 4 years old and can have proper conversations with me because I didn't talk to her like she's a dog.
As a 57 year old with 6 incredible children, the youngest 16 and the oldest 36 in the next couple days, I could not agree more with all these comments! Treat your children with respect and maturity and that's how they will grow up. My only regret? I didn't take enough photos and videos. You appear to be a wonderful dad and Noah's behavior supports the appearance. Keep up the good work and take more pictures 📸
Any missed photos are your fault alone. Your assistant Noah did an amazing job. He reminded you so many times about your camera you forgot, and didn't let you get nearly as far as you normally do before remembering to go back for it.
Adding: another curse of photography, especially when running, is being out on a run, seeing a PERFECT scene, and not having a camera with you to grab it.
Oh this is just the best! Noah is so adorable. One of my favorite things about your videos is that you are real with your viewers. Noah saying you left the camera is hilarious. The honesty of a 2 year old is priceless. Thanks for sharing your sweet boy with us. You two and your father son interactions brightened my day and made me smile.
Noah is a great assistant. He pointed out points of interest (windmill), reminded you to get your camera, agrees with you on man made objects ....adorable. You had a special day out with your little man.
My favourite video of this year. Father and son, a great combination. Dry humour mixed with childhood innocence. You're on to a winner, more videos like this 😂
As the dad of a two year old - hiking with my daughter, with my camera is one of my favourite things. This is both great to see and infinitely relatable. Every time she asks me to pick a flower for her, or says 'wow' at something she finds impressive (but is usually just a funny looking tree stump), or asks me to find more animal poo. Both amusing and endearing. Fun joint activity and i get to scratch my creative itch. Loved this video.
As a 22 year old this video pulled on my heart strings like very few things have. Thank you for sharing such a precious video with us. ❤ your channel is top notch mate!
It occurs to me that having someone for whom everything is new, interesting, and exciting is an ideal companion for a photographer who has become a little jaded and overaccustomed to the world he inhabits. Lovely video.
Thanks James, you reminded me of how much I enjoyed having my kids with me when I hiked and attempted to do photography. Here I am thirty years later and they are carrying their own equipment. My daughter taught in France for a year upon graduation from university. I let her take my old dslr. She commented that when she would get home sick, she would take out that camera. She said the smell reminded her of me and helped her to not feel so alone. You may not have made many photos on this one, but sometimes the memories are so much more important.
This is the most wholesome and adorable thing I’ve seen in a long time. As a new parent and photographer, I sincerely hope I get to do this with my boy.
This has to be in the top five of your videos - maybe number one for me. When my kids were small, one was always treated to going to work with me. It won’t be long and your son will be giving you photography tips. My son is now 34, loves photography, and has a great collection of digital and film cameras. I think I gave him a simple point and shoot camera when he was 5. All my kids got one, and my oldest girl majored in photography. Cheers!
This may be the best landscape-photographer-youtuber video I've seen. Doing anything with a small human involved requires considerably more effort, exponentially more time, usually more money, and probably generates more mistakes along the way. AND YET, it is far more worthwhile all the same. Well done, dad!
Absolutely the most charming photography video ever. Thanks so much for sharing your day with Noah. Although being covered with yogurt is far in my past, life in general has a way of crowding in on morning and evenings, especially when the light is good. Hang in there.
This is such a great example of why I like James' videos, they're just so real! He leaves the real in and just knows that you're going to be OK with it, or you won't. I don't think he cares in the slightest. Genuine. It seems so refreshing. Crazy how it's become that way. Keep up the great vids. I'm learning a ton!
Ah this feels more like a JP video. Your conversational style about what you see and what your plans are make the video so engaging. I'm looking forward to more of them. Noah's concern for the 'forgotten' camera is hilarious.
Oh my one of the most enjoyable videos ever! As a granny of 5 older grandkids, it was amazing to see a young dad with his son on an adventure! Well done Daddy! Do more Thursdays with daddy!😂
Love this video, as a father and photographer this is so lovely to watch. Such a relaxed vibe and had me giggling all the way through. You're doing great as a dad, keep it up.
Best assistent you can have, out there. Nice little guy and he is always thinking of nothing gets lost. 😅 I had laughing multiple times, because of his cuteness. And I hope this will be simular with my kids. 👍👍
....sooooo adorable assistant❤... don't you worry, after a few times you'll stop thinking that you have yogurt, ketchup or anything else on your t-shirt😊...it was big pleasure to watch you both... 🥰
You could do a series of videos where Noah tries to find his favorite first camera😊 This was absolutely adorable, your communication sounded so wholesome!
Fabulous! Always love your videos with many laugh out loud moments for me but this was on another level! 👏😍Wonderful times with your little man! Keep savouring the special outings regardless of the photos you get or don’t get! 💙
Thoroughly enjoyed that. I loved wearing my kids and letting them see the world with me. Also agree that they get in the way of doing all sort of things you were hoping to do on your own schedule but in compensation they also draw your attention to things you would not have otherwise seen. I hope you continue to have many fun walks and chats together!
This is your best video ever. It reminded me of when you started. The dry humor was great. The parts where you explained how RUclips works was gold my friend.
Haha, made me chuckle and very true. Remember taking my daughter out in misty woodland conditions as my assistant once as she wanted to come. Trouble is I had the conditions and not sure pretending to be headless chickens was a game she enjoyed too much.
Aww, Noah is so cute, this video just reminds me of when i used to go on photography days and weekends later in life with my son, we loved it, so much bonding happening and you don't even know it. 15 years later, my son and i still do it and even better now he has his own camera setup, thanks to Santa, he's actually doing photography in his GCSEs this year and uses some off his pics taken as homework. Great video James, these are memories to treasure
I feel so seen. I just got into photography this year while caring for my four year old son much of the time. I keep asking myself why I didn’t start before I had a kid! But at four, he’s a great helper and mostly patient, although location and time of day is so very limited.
Loving this video bud, not only is it still informative, but you are teaching your kiddo and spending time with him. You can't put a price on this. Enjoy it while it last and keep up the amazing work.
reminds me of my lad , started taking him when he was 2 as well now 6 and still enjoy it makes you enjoy the mornings a little more for me . and his even started taking some photos (pushing the button ) but he tells his mum he took them lol enjoy it mate they get big too quickly .
This is the funniest and adorable video ever seen. So sweet how you talk with your son and how he sees the world. Maybe it is a idea to make a video with him and photograph what he like to photograph
Noah is adorable James. He is such a good talker. I'm sure he'll be very interested in what you do because you've included him at such a young age. You might have to take him camping when he's older to catch those sunrises and sunsets.
Having Noah in this video is awesome 😁 He’s adorable 😁 Thinking he may take over your channel as the director (he does a great job of not letting the camera get left behind and keeps you moving through different scenes 😁)
So very relatable. My weekend hike looked pretty much the same: pretty surroundings, poor light conditions and a toddler assistant. I managed to take one photo. And it wasn't a good one.
I was going to shoot a really scenic park this past sunday, but I slept well past the good morning light because I went to a concert the night before. It's fun how something as basic as the position of the sun can turn your photos from publication worthy into snapshots you would immediately delete from your phone.
Super video, that has to be the best you have ever made. He was the star of the show, certainly like his dad and enjoys being out taking photos. Who cares about you not getting any decent photographs when you produce a video like this, shows off exactly what makes you a wonderful dad. 😁👍
Great video. I can definitely relate with a one year old who doesn't enjoy the camera strap dangling in her face every time we see a nice fence/gate combo.
Not going to lie James, this is probably your all time greatest video. A combination of your photography, fatherhood and obvious love for both. Tremendous ! 👏🏼
James, I think that's your best video yet. The little sidekick helped you execl in your presentation and constant 'you forgot camera' reminders made mat chuckle. Plz take Noah on more trips!
I've created these little straps that allow me to hook my camera to the shoulder straps of my hiking pack, and it makes the camera almost weightless. I'm using some paracord to make loops and then I have clips attached to my camera lugs which can clip off of my normal strap and onto the loops. It's a game changer!
I feel your pain about the curse, I've been Mum's main carer for a year now, don't begrudge it a bit and it is getting easier, but breakfast and whatnot coinciding with the good light is... well I can see it out of the window, so there is at least that. And then the weather's rubbish on my days off :)
'Silly daddy you forgot your camera', just loved it, you are an awesome dad! Love how you two interacted! Next Noah joins the manmade object should for sure be a windmill 🙂 Nice video James! I admire your effort to talk us through the compositions with your two year old on your back
As a fairly new dad and photographer this video is so encouraging. Seeing that it's possible to do both together and not just get covered in yogurt all day.
A wonderfully expressive video about your love for your son and for photography - so calm and measured, just as you seem to be in all of your videos. Just great - thanks James!
I think this is one of my favourite videos you’ve done, largely because your kiddo is adorable, and I can commiserate as a dad to an amazing and rambunctious nearly-four-year-old daughter 😊 The candid moments you shared with us of you two were just wonderful, while you still put forth your usual humour and effort to talk to your audience. This is inspiring me to take my daughter out for some photo walks, and get her to take her camera too! ($10 cheapo from a thrift store.. not bothered if it breaks 😉 )
I've got a little one about the same age as yours. At the end of this video, when you say you didn't get anything good at all, it makes me think that you may think differently in a few years when some of these photos may remind you of this day you spent with your little guy on your back. Maybe it happens often enough for this to not be much of a memorable day, but I'd cherish a day like that and the boring photos I took quite a bit!
Love that you were able to take your son with you on one of your quests. The conversations are precious. Enjoyed this immensely. Wish I had taken one of my daughters out with me.
What a riot! Although perhaps you didn't think trying to take your son for a walk while you video recorded the experience and tried to take photographs. Trust me, when your son is grown and you review this video, you'll smile and smile!
I tried to do something similar to this with my son, but he's 27 and tends to fuss a bit more in the back carrier. This is possibly the best RUclips video you've made so far.
Noah owns this video hands down! My own kids (25 and 32) are a tad too heavy to carry around like that, but when or if I have any grandkids I'll definitely want to do this :)
Appreciating the parents comment was tongue in cheek but after three kids and not a single day of parental childcare ever, I can say embrace any help you’re getting. Wife and I have had two nights off in 12 years…
It seems im not the first to mention this, but i dont normally like kids that much and I struggle with them a lot. This video on the other hand is an inspiration and i really enjoyed watching you two walking around scouting for shots 🥹
Haha, very cute, James. Brings back some great similar memories of my own too. No doubt this’ll end up being one of your most treasured RUclips videos of all. Very good. 😊
Great. Well done to Noah. Reminds me of when my daughter was young and her dad took her on his back - I had the excuse that I couldn't take the weight!
Very nice video that simply shows the reality of photography in harmony with family life. I feel transported back to a time 27 years ago when I, too, showed the world to a little person in a back carrier walking around with a camera in my hand. THANKS!
What a treat to see your little Noah in the video! He communicates very well for a 2 year old. Enjoyed this video so much and thanks for bringing Noah along :)
Daddy you get camera! Hahahaha. They don't miss a trick these young ones. You did well James. It can be tough when you've got a little chatter box with you. Was great to see the interaction you shared as you noticed things and took photos. And you've a little explorer - that's fantastic. I miss and I don't miss these days with little ones. My kids are now teenagers and I'm still waiting for the opportunity to be free of responsibilities to get out at various times of the day.
As a 24 year old, I think I just witnessed one of the in my eyes most adorable ways of communicating with children. You’re not changing you’re voice that much, not talking childy things only, taking you’re son seriously with what he has to say. as a 25yr old, i agree.
Always TALK to your child. Never do the goo goo stuff
as a 18 yo, i agree.@@jaughnekow
As a 57 year old with 6 incredible children, the youngest 16 and the oldest 36 in the next couple days, I could not agree more with all these comments! Silly Daddy
The most adorable assistant I’ve ever seen 😁
My son is the same age. This is all far too relatable. Watching him stomp into the frame with his banana...that's your video shot of the year. 10/10.
Adding: another curse of photography, especially when running, is being out on a run, seeing a PERFECT scene, and not having a camera with you to grab it.
My son is now in his fifties. He knows better than to go into something as foolish as photography. He races cars.
James: Do you like man made things in your photos?
Noah: Yeah.
James in his mind: I taught him well.
Children at this age always say yes at your answers. Very fun thing to play with.
James: Do you know what GPS is?
Noah: Yea
James: Yea? Clever boy
Lovely what a wholesome video!
"Daddy, you forget camera" - cute!
Noah is a great assistant. He pointed out points of interest (windmill), reminded you to get your camera, agrees with you on man made objects ....adorable. You had a special day out with your little man.
More Noah, please!!! James, this was such a charming video. Your channel is so different from everyone else's and I'm here for it!
The way he says, "Yeah!" at @1:28 reminds me of my own. ❤
This is the cutest video I’ve seen in a while! I love how you talk to your son!
My favourite video of this year. Father and son, a great combination. Dry humour mixed with childhood innocence. You're on to a winner, more videos like this 😂
“Hairy Father and the Photographer’s Curse”
(Harry Potter?)
Loved this. Beautiful father son time. Favorite shot at 5:50.
As the dad of a two year old - hiking with my daughter, with my camera is one of my favourite things. This is both great to see and infinitely relatable. The best little helper you got there 😍 Noah is already having full check on daddy’s camera so silly daddy don’t forget anything
This is the most wholesome and adorable thing I’ve seen in a long time. As a new parent and photographer, I sincerely hope I get to do this with my boy.

I don't think I've ever related more to a video on RUclips.
This is such a great example of why I like James' videos, they're just so real! He leaves the real in and just knows that you're going to be OK with it, or you won't. Engagement farming on a whole new level 🤣
I absolutely love this, had a smile on my face the whole way though 😀 You've found yourself a new niche!!
Love this video, as a father and photographer this is so lovely to watch. Such a relaxed vibe and had me giggling all the way through. You're doing great as a dad, keep it up.
"You're not quite grasping the idea of these shots are you?"
"No"
Funny little man 😄
Awww that was adorable. Loved Noah pointing out you forgetting your B roll camera ❤. Precious to have a video with him to look back on too.
It's a wonderful video on Scouting! We , your faithful fans, never judge. "Silly Daddy"
Cheers from "across the pond.

Your son is adorable. Years from now you will cherish those memories of taking him with you. Enjoy each moment. My little boy is now 49 years old.
Best assistent you can have, out there.
Nice little guy and he is always thinking of nothing gets lost. 😅
I had laughing multiple times, because of his cuteness.
And I hope this will be simular with my kids. 👍👍
Dude...This is literally my challenge.
Lucky lad, his dad sharing the world with him. Lucky dad, a healthy, curious child. Brilliant content.
....sooooo adorable assistant❤... don't you worry, after a few times you'll stop thinking that you have yogurt, ketchup or anything else on your t-shirt😊...it was big pleasure to watch you both... 🥰
What a fabulously cute assistant Noah makes. Certainly kept you on the straight and narrow. More please.
Priceless, especially Daddy "forgetting" his camera!

Do that often! They grow soo fast! Not sure I miss having them in a backpack but it is a fun period of life!
Haha, made me chuckle and very true. Remember taking my daughter out in misty woodland conditions as my assistant once as she wanted to come. Trouble is I had the conditions and not sure pretending to be headless chickens was a game she enjoyed too much.
The Gruffalo! What an awesome book. This is so adorable. I love it. "Come on daddy." Aww.
Love the “you forgot the camera”. It’s a bit like going to the loo: you know it happens but you prefer not to think about it.
Noah's very patient for a 2 year old :-) Great video.
I was just thinking that. If I left my 2yos in the car and film an intro like that, I'd get an earful when I open the door 😅
I feel so seen. I just got into photography this year while caring for my four year old son much of the time. I keep asking myself why I didn’t start before I had a kid! But at four, he’s a great helper and mostly patient, although location and time of day is so very limited.
Love that moment at 5:50, you and Noah sitting on the rock chillin’.
Loving this video bud, not only is it still informative, but you are teaching your kiddo and spending time with him. You can't put a price on this. Enjoy it while it last and keep up the amazing work.

This was such an authentic video and didn't seem a million miles from your usual genuine content. I was smirking constantly and I loved the banter....
As a father of 3 I absolutely loved this. Great effort. Beautiful video,
.
This is the funniest and adorable video ever seen. So sweet how you talk with your son and how he sees the world. Maybe it is a idea to make a video with him and photograph what he like to photograph
Cherish every moment you get like this, as all too quickly they grow up.
Oh he's adorable!! Love this 😊😀
Noah is adorable James. He is such a good talker. I'm sure he'll be very interested in what you do because you've included him at such a young age. You might have to take him camping when he's older to catch those sunrises and sunsets.
Some fantastic parenting on display here and still a great watch, thanks for taking the time to continue making these!
The highlight of the video is Noah going "baaaa" again and again and falling asleep. That straight up crack me up.
Very cute little assistent, Always caring about your camera... ❤
Best assistant ever. Well done Daddy.
Stay safe 🇦🇺
Having Noah in this video is awesome 😁 He’s adorable 😁 Thinking he may take over your channel as the director (he does a great job of not letting the camera get left behind and keeps you moving through different scenes 😁)
Oh my gosh could this be any cuter!? The James and Noah adventures! Don't forget the camera daddy!, love it!
So very relatable. My weekend hike looked pretty much the same: pretty surroundings, poor light conditions and a toddler assistant. I managed to take one photo. And it wasn't a good one.

oh bless, babba. beautiful boy.
James, I think that's your best video yet. The little sidekick helped you execl in your presentation and constant 'you forgot camera' reminders made mat chuckle. Plz take Noah on more trips!

I'm using some paracord to make loops and then I have clips attached to my camera lugs which can clip off of my normal strap and onto the loops. It's a game changer!
Just love this video: the real not the ideal, the world rediscovered, and a beautiful parent/child team effort.
I feel your pain about the curse, I've been Mum's main carer for a year now, don't begrudge it a bit and it is getting easier, but breakfast and whatnot coinciding with the good light is... well I can see it out of the window, so there is at least that. A wonderfully expressive video about your love for your son and for photography - so calm and measured, just as you seem to be in all of your videos. Just great - thanks James!
What an excellent assistant! Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming video.
Makes me realize how long I've been watching your channel. That was absolutely precious. Thanks for sharing!
Lovely interaction between a father and son, especially in gorgeous scenery.
I think this is one of my favourite videos you’ve done, largely because your kiddo is adorable, and I can commiserate as a dad to an amazing and rambunctious nearly-four-year-old daughter 😊
The candid moments you shared with us of you two were just wonderful, while you still put forth your usual humour and effort to talk to your audience.
This is inspiring me to take my daughter out for some photo walks, and get her to take her camera too! ($10 cheapo from a thrift store.. not bothered if it breaks 😉 )

Always handy to have the critique of a 2 yr old. He’s a star
That father and son on the rock with the camera pointing at the backs looked like an awesome shot
We need the James & Noah channel right now! The shot of Noah dropping his toy is priceless.
I can not wait until my litle one can go on these kinds of adventures with me! Love your stuff James. Cheers from across the pond brother
THANKS!
Great vid James. The tiny human is adorable, as was your interaction with him. 😊
