I swear I miss the 80s so much I wanna cry!
Yes so do I ..I really miss the 80s very much It was a great decade and the last decade that had easy and simple times
I remember my big brother watching DR. J. This brings back so many memories. ❣
You must be a youngster. The eighties was a violent era. Crips & Bloods criminals killing each other. Fools in Chicago gunning each other down over sneakers. The crack epidemic destroyed so many lives during that period. Now the 60’s & 70’s were the greatest of times. Of course I’m biased because those were the years of my youth. Great times!
@@highcrimes9153 Im 58 born in 1965 and like I said I miss the 80s!!! You must be a youngster going on what you heard bro don't reply to me any more with that dumb sh* t!!
he may not be the greatest basketball player but in my book, he's definitely the classiest. A lot of today's so-called superstars could learn a lesson on humility from Dr. J.
This is a great tribute to Dr. J. Not only is Dr J one of the best b-ball players, Jeffrey O is a good singer..Good Job Jeffrey!!!!
thanks 4 posting i am the guy with the red hat on that dunks the ball in slow motion can't believe that was 21 years ago in tustin playground in west philly the scene in the gym is my high school carrol h.s. we were selected by a alumni of carroll who worked for converse we shot that scene in jan 87 I remember it was below 0 I couldnt dunk it the way I wanted to because it was so cold. The great experience was to meet DrJ. it was a special tribute for him in his final year. thanks for posting.
sante3121 💯
Man you are fortunate. I was in high school from 86' to 90'. I still to this day have not met him. My play cousin Steve Colter #14 which is from my neighborhood here in Phoenix, AZ made the last couple of assists to him in his last game.
Being from Philly, I lived and died from the Sixers, so it was mostly pain. But when they won the championship, it was and still is the happiest day in my life, next is when the eagles finally win the super bowl.
I live in Florida now, but my heart is hoping to one day find myself back in Germantown, getting a cheesesteak.
Dr. J will always be my favorite athlete, let alone favorite ball player.
Julius (Dr.J) Ervingggggg
The Doc had it all. Talent and class. One of the best ever!
Hi edagdwg God blessed these two souls with a forever gift to enjoy life love J.E. and J.O. a forever loving fan enjoy watching J.E.playing basketball and hearing J.O. singing about life love a forever loving of both special man Linda j.peace
I was about 6ft then this was supposed to be aired halftime of the 1987 nba allstar game but whatever reason they didnt show it. about a week later my mother awoke me telling it was coming on next on friday night videos hosted by pee wee herman. this was one of greatest thrills in my lifetime to be on national tv dunking in slow motion 21 years later Im still excited about it. We were interviewed on the news the paper ect..great experience for a 16 year old.
Those youngsters were looking at the Doctor with awe. And when that kid dunked it his friends looked to see if Dr. J. saw it. So cool. Great combo--Jeffrey O and Dr. J.
I love this. Very classy song and video, I can't help but think if this was done today it wouldn't be that great because it would likely be a hip hop tune or something, i like the silky smooth R and B for a guy that played just as smooth.
I had this on vhs when I was a kid and thats how I learned to play basketball.
love Doc's sneakers...had a couple pair in the early 80s
I remember seeing this video on the show "Friday Night Videos" on NBC in the mid to late 80's.
Great song For A super great guy That will be Julius Erving They don't make basketball players like Julius anymore True Class Gentleman
I'm from Philly and I remember this championship win! Philly was crazy! I got married a few days after this win! It was a wonderful time for me! Unfortunately, my husband passed in December, 2014.
Oh I so miss the 80’s.
I love Dr.J
What a way to go out, I just wished he stayed a little longer with the team, I cried back then in 1987.
Dave Zinkopf, what a voice used with inflection made for perfection.
Great, I remember when this came out. Love DrJ, my favorite all time player!!!
That dunk on Walton is still my favorite of all time!
nothing more would make my day if u post the behind the scenes pleeeease! post it! thanx 4 the experience you guys gave us to be scene on national tv at 17. I will cherish that for the rest of my life. thanx 4 shoveling the snow lol.
I am so glad you posted this video. I also remember watching it on Friday Night Videos when it came out. It is a great tribute to one of the greatest players.

Happy birthday to you Jeffery Osborne 3 12. Your voice makes this tribute worth listening to.
Doc doesnt walk he just floats and glides
The Dr!!!!
This song and video says it all... No questions necessary; just watch and listen...
Classic
I've been looking for this for about 10 years and when I mention it to folks never seemed to know what I was talking about. I love it.
Thanks
Still have my VHS copy from 1986. Recorded it in the middle of winter. In Milwaukee we shoveled courts and played year round.... That video was one of the best of all time.
The dunks were spectacular, but the finger rolls were simply sublime.
that parallel baseline is still incredible!
Fm bass from dx7
My Idol...Coolest Dude! Bucket list to meet the Doctor!!
Always loved the intro for him at the Spectrum, 'From the University of Massachusetts, Number Six, Captain of the Philadelphia 76’ers, Julius, The Doctor, Irvvvvvvinggg…”…So glad to have found this video tribute...I remember seeing on TV live in 1987 at halftime of a game during his farewell season and loved it for two reasons, Dr. J and Jeffrey Osborne!...I never saw it again and never heard the song again...I had the life-size poster of The Doctor with his big fro in high school in late 70's /early 80's and was HUGE Jeffrey Osborne fan (saw him in concert back a few years ago and he still has the pipes)...I actually shed a tear when he hung up the sneakers that year...was thrilled to have gotten a chance to actually meet him and shake his hand in the O Club in the 90s when he was an executive with the Orlando Magic... THANKS to the poster for helping me relive a good memory of the Doctor...
Think of all the moments Dr. J had openings/moments for powerhouse slam dunks and he opted out for beautiful lay-ups.
👍 fo my fav of alllll time…Jeffery Osborn….#LAL fo life.
Doc and Earl the Pearl.
I truly miss the old school players.
Awesome! 😍
Thanks for posting this. Been looking for this vid for years. I had it on tape from that very same Friday Night Videos show with Pee Wee Herman hosting but lost the tape. Love this...thanks!!!
Thanks for posting. This was the first time I saw the whole thing. On the VHS is fades out when he's walking on the sidewalk so you don't see the other highlights and the short "making of" portion. I thought the sax was by Grover Washington Jr. who wrote "Let It Flow (for Dr. J)" back in the day but I see it was G. Albright.
I have the same Friday Night Videos recording! February 1987 I believe. I need to digitize it one of these days.
I was 6 yrs old going 7 I remember as a kid
yeah at 17 I felt like a star lol one of the greatest experiences in my life whoever put this on youtube had re - enlightned my excitement.
I used to watch that tape then go try to a reverse finger roll
Thank you! I've seen this fantastic vid now.Young doc is a sensational, explosive player.
Thanks for puttin this up !! I been looking for this for the last few decades. I think I saw this on BET and never forgot how good this was> Orale carnal!!!!!!
Rome wasn't built in a day, neither was Dr. J.
Excelente recopilación de momentos estelares de uno de los más grandes del BASKET ¡¡¡
Genniales sus Converse ¡¡¡
As much as I lov Michael there is no one like the Dr. A class act
Michael will tell you, he got a lot of stuff from doctor j.. Including his love for playing golf!!💯
Where can I buy this song. I can't find it on ITunes.
That's cool that you got to meet Doc and appear in the video.
I'm old to remember them blocking off Tustin courts to shoot this video. For anyone who is curious. The outdoor courts are Tustin Playground, a legendary basketball court where many greats have played, from Dr. J to Kobe (RIP). In the background is Overbrook High, where I attended. Dr. J's high school, Roosevelt. Let's just say its not in walking distance to Tustin Playground. :)
Grandpa Speed (Ray Wilson) ❤️🩹 miss you coach
rest in peace coach Ray Wilson
I had this vhs as a kid 😂😂😂
ASE 👑 King
Roosevelt Jr Sr High School my alma mater
My dad was in this video

NBA FANS DIDNT GET TO SEE THE DOC WHEN HE WAS YOUNG WITH NO KNEE PAINS...ABA FANS GOT THAT TREAT...BOTH BENCHES WOULD BE LIKE KIDS WATCHING HIM SLAPPING 5, AFTER A MOVE
Ditto.
Look at the snow...that was July or August probably...you know, global warming took all that summer snow away.
