  • Doing this entire build by myself definitely adds some time to the process. But little tricks and jigs can definitely help!
I saw the trick to use a pole and some clamps with the house wrap on a different youtube video, unfortunately I can't remember whose it was, but thank you! That was a lifesaver.
Things like the long rafters and the sheet roofing would be so much simpler with just one extra set of hands. Definitely put in a lot of extra time going up and down the ladder and walls. But doing it all with just my own two hands is also extremely rewarding.
Unfortunately I ran into a time crunch with the roof and had to decide between: Tarping the whole thing and waiting a few days (risking a coverage failure with the wind) Or putting in a long day and finishing the roof in the dark.
I actually ended up doing all the seams "upside down" in the dark. This was my first time installing a metal roof and I learned after the fact that the longer tab side goes underneath at the seams. Which seemed counterintuitive to me. I contemplated removing a couple lines of screws and fixing the seams, but it doesn't seem like a consequential enough issue to justify the risk of removing and reinstalling the screws in the same holes.
