  • A Strip & Sanitise is a thorough cleaning process for poorly-laundered (aka stinky, stained) cloth nappies. You might like to use this process if your nappies smell and no matter what you try it doesn't go away, or if you've purchased nappies on the secondhand market and you want them to be super clean for your baby.
The Strip & Sanitise has 6 steps:
    1. Strip soak
    2. Rinse
    3. Sanitise solution
    4. Rinse
    5. Wash x 2
    6. Dry
The Strip & Sanitise is otherwise known as a Strip & Bleach and is originally from Fluffloveuniversity.com . The Strip & Sanitise is the Strip & Bleach made user friendly for those in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and United Kingdom and was popularised via the Clean Cloth Nappies Down Under Facebook group and later documented at cleanclothnappies.com.
This video documents the process of Strip & Sanitising some secondhand nappies gifted to me by my friend. They were yellow-brown and really smelly after years in storage. After the Strip & Sanitise they were back to their original cream colour and smelled like new.
If you're wanting to try cloth nappies for your baby why not test the waters with a hire package from Clean Cloth Nappy Hire? We're based in Brisbane and ship Australia wide. We offer full-time packages of modern and traditional cloth nappies so you can try cloth without the stress or expense of buying new. Visit us at www.cleanclothn... :)

Thanks, I've always used cloth nappies but I've used disposables on my 6th child because she keeps getting quite red and rashie when using cloth. I'm going to try a strip and sanitise and see if it helps. Thanks.

Hello, thank you for your video. Rookie Mamma! I was just wondering to keep it most kind to our babies, isn't bleach dangerous for using ? I mean, can the traces of it affect baby's skin? Is there any way to swap it for something else? Thank in advance!!!

Hi Barbora, bleach is actually non-residual, which makes it one of the safest options for baby products. Milton sterilising solution is bleach, for example, and that is used on bottles and dummies which are used as soon as they are dry. You can use heat to sanitise as well- find full instructions on the Cloth Nappy Help website at www.clothnappyhelp.com.au .

What fitted nappies would you recommend for at home use without a cover over summer? My bub runs really hot so it sounds like a great option!
