10 and 2 Terry Towelling Flat (Traditional Cloth Nappy) Leg Seal Hack

This video describes how I fit terry towelling flats to get a great seal around the legs. Using the 10 and 2 leg seal hack prevents gappiness around the leg and helps to prevent poo explosions. It also gives nice clearance over the hip so baby can move his or her legs freely and fits easily under a PUL cover. If you're new to terry flats I suggest using an origami fold for newborns and if your ...

    Hello, thank you for your video. Rookie Mamma! I was just wondering to keep it most kind to our babies, isn't bleach dangerous for using ? I mean, can the traces of it affect baby's skin? Is there any way to swap it for something else? Thank in advance!!!

      @clothnappyhireaustralia8515 3 года назад

      Hi Barbora, bleach is actually non-residual, which makes it one of the safest options for baby products. Milton sterilising solution is bleach, for example, and that is used on bottles and dummies which are used as soon as they are dry. You can use heat to sanitise as well- find full instructions on the Cloth Nappy Help website at www.clothnappyhelp.com.au .

      Hello! If you haven't yet started in cloth, and bub is less than 15kg, check out our Infant + Toddler package- that way you can find your perfect nappies. If bub is 15+kg you'll need extra large nappies, which have the added benefit of fitting right through to around 6 years old (great for nights!). If you're already using cloth, and using one size fits most nappies, let me know which inserts are currently working or not working for you and I can give you some tips. @@EdnaBlossoms310 You can try prewashing your nappies each day, I wouldn't leave them 4 days without some kind of rinse out. The longer you leave your nappies the most prone they are to degradation, so if you can wash them frequently they will have a nice long life.

      Hi - this is great but I still have some confusion around when to dry pail - I know it is done before the main wash but if you pre wash a day's worth of nappies each day to prevent smell and stains, do they go back in the dry pail until you have enough nappies for the main load (another 1-2 days)?

    • @clothnappyhireaustralia8515
      @clothnappyhireaustralia8515 3 года назад

      Hey Shelley, I liked to store mine dry. I found they went a bit yucky here in the subtropics when I attempted storing them wet. If you're out of the house you can use your drink bottle or a tap to wet them down. While our family always used cloth wipes at home, and still do a few years after making this video, we did use disposable wipes when we were out at the shops/restaurants etc- you can buy quite a few brands these days that are natural fibre rather than plastics. Try a few things and you'll soon find what works for your family!

      @clothnappyhireaustralia8515 4 года назад

      Hey Tiff, it's fine to give nappies a brief pretreater soak before the wash- you'll see I used the timer here and left them just as long as they needed. With so many poopy nappies it would have taken me just as long to Sard soap them individually and they'd be sitting wet and soapy for the same length of time. You want to avoid wet pailing, which is the old fashioned regular soaking in water where the nappies go into a bucket of water after taking off of baby until they are put into the washing machine. Let me know if I can help with any other Qs :)

    What about soakIng them just in water, no soaps/bleaches? Also do you have a video on washing the nappies as a lot of ppl suggest 2 washes. Is this really necessary?

    • @clothnappyhireaustralia8515
      @clothnappyhireaustralia8515 4 года назад

      Hey Kate, this is not a good idea with modern cloth nappies as the materials are far more fragile than terry towelling flats. Bamboo, for example, is easily degraded by bacteria and when you soak in water you just spread bacteria through all of your inserts instead just where the soiled part is. Elastic and the waterproof outers will degrade if you soak them, the waterproof outers in particular are glued together so are really not designed for soaking. Yes, there's wash routine videos on my channel- I hope you find them helpful! 2 washes is necessary, you need to remove the excess soiling from the nappies so that you can do the long wash in clean water. So no soak required, let your machine do the work!
