    hi besties! so sorry about the ads.
    we would never put ads on an episode willingly.
    youtube recognized a royalty free song (in the intro bit) as a copyrighted song, so we got ads automatically inserted
    we have disputed the copyright claim and submitted a royalty free content id - hopefully the ads are gone soon.

    I wan't to see Chamath's face when his bank announces that his account's ground truth is now an AI agent and not a transaction log.
    Also, CoT is how langchain & co got popular, you guys had it on the pod couple of month's ago. It's just a native implementation of that now. While cool, it was a catch-up from OpenAI not an innovation.

    • @sanesanyo
      @sanesanyo 19 часов назад +1

      I would disagree. This is still an innovation because we have now figured that there is a scaling law for runtime as well which means if we throw more compute at run time we get linearly better results. This means we can get gains in model quality by scaling the foundational model & then we can improve them further at runtime by scaling compute again. Also CoT used in o1 preview is a little different as they fine tuned a reward model which is trained to find the correct reasoning trace out of multiple CoT simulations.

    • @tallic14
      @tallic14 18 часов назад

      @@sanesanyo You are not wrong. I would expect incremental improvements and better theoretical understanding after approx 1.5yrs. However, from a user perspective, nothing really changed since back then. It's not a new method but an improved technique we already knew off and instead of running it in a crude terminal it's now embedded into ChatGpt.
      Guess my point is that, back then when it started, lots of hype was built up around agents and planning. While useful, they were still limited up to the point where the extra wait time does not make sense. I already turned it off in my ChatGpt because I tend to ask multiple simple questions which does not warrant extra wait time. But hey, happy if people enjoy the new feature.

    What they want is high quality and high performance. But these are expensive, which means low volume, which means automation is less economical.

    For everyone complaining about the ads: I don’t know if these guys have monetized or not, but RUclips will put ads on even if you don’t. The algorithm detects natural breaks in the conversation to insert ads. I suspect this is what’s happening, but if not, sheesh, you’re getting this information for free

    AI is still some way from replacing systems of record. There are tons of laws & regulations that require these systems to be locked down. Try telling your auditor that an agent pulled together your 10k, or an employee that their paycheck was handled by an AI agent. "Well, across the company payroll was 98% accurate." That company will 100% have a lawsuit (at minimum)

Maybe being in some other people in other fields that can speak to how they use AI to optimize their work flow.

    Thank you for identifying Joe Rogan. I never watch TV. I only know him from his podcasts. He's always sitting down. He always wears headphones. I didn't recognize him. Comment: People underestimate Senator Kennedy. He's a lot smarter than they realize. Comment: I grew up with the threat of nuclear war. I saw historic documentaries showing the horror of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I saw reports of the devastating effects from the Chernobyl explosion on children and wildlife. I read the book On The Beach for a perspective of "what if?" If we have a nuclear war the ones pushing the buttons know what will happen. Maybe they think it's noble to die in a safe bunker while the rest of us die from radiation poisoning. I can't understand the thought processes of people who even consider doing this. My life is precious to me. I am angry that they are so cavalier with it.

    • @kreek22
      @kreek22 5 часов назад

      If you wonder how nuclear war could happen Annie Jacobsen just published this year "Nuclear War: A Scenario." It's a highly unpleasant read, but also, so far as I can tell as a well-read person without classified clearances, quite realistic. She interviewed many top insiders to write, and she's very well connected in DC.
      The basic answer to the psychology question you pose is: the decision makers are not experts in nuclear war, they will listen to what their expert advisors tell them to do because they know they're not experts and the stakes are ultra-high, and those advisors will tell them to follow established procedures to prevent any nuclear attacker from winning. Many of the people responsible for launching a nuclear counter-attack would be among the first to die. And they know it.

    1:28:57 Sacks is so insightful, intelligent and clear-minded… on every topic except Ukraine. NOBODY is estimating those losses for Ukraine. It’s not just the MSM; the Institute of the Study of War, Oryx, Osint etc. are not coming up with numbers anything CLOSE to what Sacks is saying. It’s pretty clear at this point that he either has Russian LPs in his fund who are influencing him, or he actually fell for the widespread Russian disinformation campaign, the beginnings of which are starting to come to light in the last weeks. The point about the peace negotiations in 2022 is more serious. It is not known for sure if it went down like Sacks says, but serious sources like Fiona Hill and Benjamin Netanyahu and cryptic comments from Turkey have given some hints that it might be true. If it does turn out to be true, then it will be yet another massive hit to trusting the US as a partner, and a crazy betrayal of the Ukrainian people, especially considering the luke-warm military support since then.
