In problem 1 i think no need to use pen and paper.it can be solved orally.if there is 42 rupees increases in total exependiture and 1 rupee per head decrease in others average makes it 35+42=77.this is for 7 peaople so perhead expenditure is 11 rupees that is 1 less than 12.so original expenditure was 35×12=420.
