Great vid as always. Just started my offseason doing strength training, long rides, torque training and tempo spikes, so seem to be on track 😂. I also just switched to 165 mm cranks and the torque training is now way harder, do you guys know if there is some way to translate the nm I was doing with 172.5 mm cranks to the 165 mm cranks, or do I just have to accept that the torque is going to be harder to achieve with the shorter lever? Thanks.
hmm this is a great question. i'm assuming you were already in your smallest cog? the cranks shouldn't really affect this if you can just shift down into one harder gear; no?
Honestly I don’t get why ppl seem to hate their long rides on the trainer. It’s clean, no dust or dirt from the dirty outdoor, no post ride clean up, easy access to water and the toilet, no cars, and you can always pop open your favourite TV show or a console game , or even get work done on the laptop to maximise the time spent training. You literally can’t do any of these riding outdoors. IMO the only problem with riding indoors is that you lose touch with bike handling skills. But other than that, long indoor winter rides is almost all positives compared to riding long rides outdoors.
My butt and hands hurt a lot when I ride the trainer. I can just barely ride 3 hours on the trainer before it comes unbearable, but outside I can ride longer.
They do. But it’s the kind that gets them a short term podium spot, rather than the kind that their body thanks them for when they’re 80 and trying to lift their grandkids.

Always good to hear about another benefit of strength training 🫡
Are the pros doing strength training ?

a lot of them are, yes. but definitely not all. it's a mixed bag.
Not much. Cavendish says he does none
