Huge middle finger by blatantly obvious replication of the Rolex colours and models. Nothing says going our own way like that. Unless it is making $300 Quartz watch replicas of their hero brand. Omega are absolutely rattled and throwing hail Mary's now.
The lines today proved the moonswatch was a good idea. I was there and it was madness. Omega has never even come close to that type of hype surrounding any release until today. Omegas name was all over watch and hypebeast news. Big win for their brand and now they have a whole slate of the hottest looking watches available for sale - that you can get! I think this was a master stroke. As a purest, yes I see your points, but this period will be seen as a turning point for the brand. All this stuff will sell extremely well.
I agree with you on all the Omega releases. But I love the Moonswatches and will get a few once they start online sales. Best collaboration ever and has generated more hype than Omega could ever buy through advertising. Brilliant idea. Time to democratize the Speedy for the masses. And the Uranus Tiffany is a giant FU from omega to Rolex and Patek. Nice to see humor in this crazy hobby of ours.
@@fourdoorsmorehoes I saw videos where hundreds of people were swarming swatch stores at the malls. Talked to an Omega dealer. They are being sold by Swatch and not omega. I think it's a pretty cool idea. Honestly it's making me just want to get a real speedy. Always liked it but never could pull the trigger on one. But idk. It's making me want to give the brand a shot
You're the first one in this space(watch commentary) who's expressing the same misgivings that I have about Omega. Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not crazy.
When it comes to the world of investing, most people don't know where to start. Fortunately great investors of the past and present can provide us with guidance.
The crypto market is highly profitable with an expert broker just like Mr Michael Saylor. I got recommended to him and since then my financial life has been a success.
Wow I know Mr Michael Saylor. I met him at a conference in The Dome at America's center Life 2016 where he introduced us his business strategy, he helped me cover my losses trading myself.
The craziest part is that for someone like me who never considered a regular speedy started to think 7k is very reasonable after seeing miles of a line in front of swatch stores today and those watches are going for 2-3k on eBay……. Mission accomplished omega!
I actually think the Omega ATs colors look better than the Rolex OPs. The sunray looks better than the flat dial. The movement is also a hell of a lot better. Bottom line...let the flippers play the Rolex game. I'll buy a better watch with Omega...I know many won't like it, but it's the truth.
I thought it was funny that Omega introduced 10 colored AT watches and four of them were the same colors as Rolex. Three of them were primary colors. I think there’s a case for the green and gold Speedmaster maybe, but it’s funny to think that Rolex owns red, yellow, blue, and green watches.
Exactly! That lacquered dial doesn't stand a chance against the brushed one, and the co-axial is objectively better in every technical aspect. Funny how some Rolex fanboys think Rolex invented colours dials 😂
Great review Eric. In these times, gratification is common and people can get what they want, the same way Swatch or Omega can do what they want = increase sales!!! The watch is hotter than ever and glad to see all the different models available at different price points. Omega is the ONLY one I see stepping up against Rolex to give consumers an alternative. The market ALWAYS dictates what the people want at the end of the day. Feed the need.
I've always loved space stuff, and I've always had love for Omega. Like some, I can't always afford them, and they always seemed limited with their color range and model variation. In regards to the Swatch collaboration, they just opened up their front door to new clientele with space fans, people who may not have as much money to afford normal Omegas, and people who may just want more light-hearted watches. I think just having something say "Omega" on it would make me feel unbelievably proud, which would be enough motivation for me to come back for another. As far as the color ranges they are offering. I say "good!" So many companies toss out the same colors and they fly off the shelves. People get bored with Omega, or always have a bit of a "meh" reaction to them, so when they finally offer more than the few standard colors they always have, people still aren't impressed. However, just like the Swatch collab, they just got the attention of people who may not have looked at them before. People who really do just want something that looks like something else, or who just wanted the color-scheme. I'm excited to see what happens, and I can't wait to get one on my wrist one day.
Did Rolex invent or have the copyright to the color green or red? It's ridiculous to relate a watch to another for merely a color change. Omega is light years ahead in terms of technology from the OP's.
I think the opposite. The MoonSwatch release is a smart move from Omega. Omega cannot compete with Rolex in its own scarcity game. Thus Omega is giving the satisfaction to all clients to be able to have the watch they want, not having to pay extra or wait forever in queues. I have a Rolex and 2 Omega Speedmasters and I am not afraid of this MoonSwatch decreasing value of my speedy (it’s just not gonna happen!). On the other hand people will start to get sick of waiting forever for Rolex models.
I think Omega hit a home run with both their new releases and with the Swatch collab. They want to maximize awareness through all age groups and these releases will definitely do just that. More awareness means more market share. Like you said Eric, no shame in the game. It’s all business
Omega didn't made the uranus version, Swatch did by permission using the design and trademark. Omega made a beautiful move for us watch people, because how freaking cool is it to be reminded of your humble beginnings and also about your holy grail, you were searching for so long? Yes, exactly like that? Seeing this swatch covered in an Omega Speedmaster dress honouring an icon, is the most beautiful thing a watch brand could do to it's faithful costumers. It shows the tremendous respect a watch brand has towards it's watch crowd. Speaking for myself, the day I heard Swatch made the Omega collaboration, I felt such a warm and nice feeling in my chest, that told me: We understand you, we are here for you, we feel with you. In other words, if Omega reads this: Thank you so much to the heads, that made all this happen🙏 I didn't manage to get one out of the first batch but will for sure grab one by the second or third☺️✌️ Accusing Omega beeing a copycat is wrong. Accusing them trying to get a foot in the luxury door and showing where technological standards should be and what reall effort and costumer care means, yes that is absolutely right. Love the Ultra Deep... what an innovation! Seeing the Aqua Terra lineup and comparing it with Rolex, makes me even more confident, that Omega wasn't out to copy but plain and simple offer a better variety of dial colors then Rolex did back then and all that of course available.🥷🏽
@@christianhermann1372 No offense but you're obviously not a serious watch guy nor a shrewd businessman, because if you were, you would immediately recognize that Omegs just surrendered to Rolex.... Where's marketing genius behind that?

I am not huge on plastic watches, but I still believe the MoonSwatch was one of the most amazing ideas ever seen in the watch industry. I don’t have much interest in owning one, but I fully understand the hype.
why is it when every other watch brand follows certain color trends, you rave about them and how desirable their models are, but when a great watch brand like Omega follows the trend you hate on them. This is not unlike car design trends with big grills and enormous displays and every manufacturer is doing it, then how come they are not seen as copying one another.
I will give Omega credit for one thing, on the full gold Speedmaster on a strap, by design you can still put the watch on a bracelet UNLIKE the Oyster Flex Daytona variants.
Rolex and AP are so arrogant. You are a flipper that’s why you hate these Omega moves. You flippers deprive the enjoyment of watch collectors. You just hoard all the watches and mark up the prices for desperate people. Why are you against flippers for the moonswatch. Aren’t you doing the same thing? You are no different.
As a guy who dream to buy a moonwatch as a grail watch, I think this maKe me stop wanting to buying one. Imagine saving some money until I could buy one for around $5000 to buy professional moonwatch, then someone ask "is that the $250 watch that people queue nights to get one ? Yes, Omega will sell ton of these and make a lot of money. Yes it is a fun watch. Yes it will find a place on newcomers who can't afford the "real" one But, all along I think Omega is a Luxury brand watch and somehow I'm wrong. It was a luxury brand, not anymore.

I thought the same thing when I bought my Speedy Reduced….I thought it was great and saved thousands! 4 years later I have an 1863 and the Reduced is long gone. A plastic watch will never scratch that itch.
@@theshamelesswatchchannel6815 congrats on having one of my grail watch, it must be nice. Yes, plastic won't ever replace the original moonwatch. I own a Heuer 01 skeleton dial and to be honest, I'm not a proud owner of that watch. Many times I want to trade it for moonwatch, but because it is a gift from my parents, I can't sell it. Seeing a plastic moonwatch make me glad that I never sold my heuer.
Also the bezzel and the dial is made out of ceramic. So the color is exactly the same. Thats not the case with the hulk, where only the bezzel is made out of ceramic.
I think Omega did the right thing. Why not, Rolex makes fun from all of us, since you cant buy one and only certain people can (like they have more like others, and a lot of them flip them). So it is right from Omega to eat from Rolex market share.
It’s cool what they do and I’m sure it will work. But it is not increasing the long-term value of the brand. Quite the opposite of what Rolex would do.
I have 2 2021 Rolex GMT’s that I love on Jubilee. But, I might pick one of these MoonSwatches up to rock in the summer. I will not pay over retail or stand in some long line for, not a chance. If they become available online, I’ll snatch one or two up. If I don’t like it, don’t matter, they are cheap price. Good job on the videos, be well!
My first high end watch was a 1998 Schumacher. I have a dozen Rolex but not a single one will ever reduce my affection for Omega. Rolex & Omega can go happily hand in hand.
Spot on, I would just add that it's obvious that the Swatch Group is squeezing everything out of Omega and the fact that they try to revive the Swatch lineup by watering down Omega just tops everything off. They can only play this card once and in the long run it will pull down Omega instead of pushing up Swatch. That's just the very thing that Rolex has (mostly) avoided doing in its history.
Eric, I agree with you with BRAND PRIDE. Bro, Ive been watching those awful Bond movies with Daniel Craig; the last 2 movies Bond wore a watch that looked EXACTLY like a Submariner and the final movie he wore a wannabe Root Beer. I have Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 and 3 Rolex Sports models in my watch Collection am moving on to Omega Moonwatch Speedmaster and the new Seamaster range
The moonswatches aren’t limited and will go on sale online, per Swatch. Ultimately this brought attention to Omega and Swatch which is invaluable. It doesn’t diminish my 1861. He’ll I want a couple for myself
I think it’s great! My high school colors are green and gold my boutique told me they can get a green and gold speedy to me by the summer the Rolex ad looked at me like I was crazy after buying a 25k engagement ring 1 Rolex 3 tudors and a 1200 dollar folding knife from them.
It’s an odd approach and from the branding side it initially looks a little questionable but I won’t be surprised if omega sells a lot of volume this year.
I have to disagree. People are getting fed up with Rolex shenanigans (AD shenanigans) and Omega is offering real alternatives, often better quality and available. I think it’s a genius move. Regarding the Moonswatch, I think it’s a masterstroke. People may have an opinion one way or another, but literally everyone is talking about it. Rolex needs to be careful that it doesn’t become the next Kodak or Nokia
@@nickgalla-barth6336 ya I think it’s smart but I do see the concern of people thinking omega is lowering of the brand (I personally disagree with this thought process). @@Joebo31 That would be great. I have a Speedmaster and a Submariner and really wanted a Royal Oak or Daytona, but to be honest I'm bored of feeling frustrated when there are so many great watches that you can actually get. (Lange, Glasshuette, Omega, Nomos etc) I also refuse to pay above retail.
Im personally done with Omega. Had a very unpleasant purchasing experience with Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage edition just 1 week ago here in Stockholm at Erikson Urhandel. Put down a deposit 65% deposit and I waited 4 months for it. The day before I went to the shop to take out my watch the salesman called and claimed that I now owe them 6%more since there had been a price increase despite the fact that they had already written on the receipt how much the watch would cost me. I went there and refused to pay for it and until today I am still waiting for them to return my deposit. I went to a Rolex AD here in Stockholm and paid 25% down for a Yachtmaster 40 Rhodium Dial, and the saleswoman told me that the waiting time would be around 8-12 moths. Had I chosen the blue dial she would be able to deliver it to me for around 4 months, which is equivalent to what it took me to wait for an Omega. Man these Omega AD are now acting up like as if they were Rolex AD.....
You nailed it about the Omega collaboration with Swatch. I don’t know what it does for Omega. The hype over these watches will dissipate when Rolex and other brands release their watches at the end of the month.
Unless Rolex comes with a $300 submariner I think Omega will be the hype king for the next six months. Remeber all the hype Casio got from the Casioak? Now supercharge that shit add some turbos and a chip tune, that is what Omega and Swatch has done. It's the most disruptive move in the watch world for a decade if not five decades.
Hey Eric, Do you have any suggestions for Anthony Farrer re-branding? I do..."The Timepiece GentleHAND", "TimepieceTUGGER", or "The Real TUGG Life" He looking for Tudor to sponsor >>> "TUGGS for Tudors"
Ultradeep goes 20,000 feet under water without a HE valve. Thats innovative. Seaweed doesnt look like a Hulk. Different markets IMO. Gold Speedies and Aqua Terras, cant argue with you on those.
The moonswatch is a brilliant idea to capture the fastest growing sector of the watch industry (entry level). And I LOVE how Omega trolled Rolex with the metallic color versions of the OPs. Rolex laid the groundwork getting people interested in those colors, and Omega is capitalizing on that by giving people watches they can actually buy (with better specs)! The best under the radar 22 Omega is the reissue Speedmaster ‘57 in red.
I think Omega is beginning to turn the tide in people’s minds. This weekend the Omega store was full because of the hype from Swatch even though there is no Swatch store here. The Rolex AD next door was empty because they have nothing to sell.
I feel like that watch collectors forget that there a A LOT of people out there that just want one good watch that they can wear for 20 years. They used to go to a Rolex AD but now, they get turned away or put on never ending waitlists, so Omega are happy to play to the people who will only purchase one, or maybe two, watches and leave the collectors to Rolex and AP. I feel like the “single purchase” market is much larger than collectors realise, so it’s a good business move
The only thing that annoys me more than Omega releasing _such familiar_ watches are the mental gymnastics that some people are going through to make it look like Omega didn't just copy Rolex. They did, admit it and move on, call it "drawing inspiration". They are all great watches with the exception of a 50m WR on rubber, that is just idiotic but everything else is really nice and *really* familiar.
They just hopped on the color trend. Rolex don't own colors especially since the shades are different. Rolex didn't even invent the trend as many Japanese and German watch makers did bright colors before Rolex. Omega released beautiful watches that took advantage of the current color trends. No need to get salty. Take away the branding and Omega is every bit as good as Rolex and in some ways superior. It's arguable that Omega has better movements and is more innovative with materials and their watches are naturally anti magnetic and the Ultra Deep outclassed the Deep-sea in abilities and toughness.
I think you have to do some of those mental gymnastics to compare a green Seamaster with a green Submariner. Rolex doesn’t even make a green Submariner anymore. The watches are dissimilar and the color of green is dissimilar. The only correlation is that both watches involve a shade of green. I think there are a lot of similarities between the Omega and Rolex watches, but it’s funny to see people get so drunk on being right they end up being wrong anyway.
As I said lol. Look sure sure sure one color that's the same, sure total coincidence. But ALL of them? Come on. It's corporate if you can't beat them join them.
@@mattg27 Mostly you. Just to be clear I don't even own a Rolex, its just what I see. You can take any one of these in isolation and say its the same color, its the same type of watch, but when you combine all of them together its trend that points to Omega following behind instead of leading the way (not technically, only in appearance and style) and honestly its a shame. I'm sure they have original ideas that were left behind to accommodate these releases.
It’s sad to see such an iconic brand with their own DNA copying their competitors playbook but the move with the MoonSwatch was pure genius 👌🏻. Not only did it create a huge buzz, they strategically did it the week before Rolex releases their new watches at BaselWorld to steal part of their thunder. If Rolex doesn’t come out with anything new and interesting, we may have a dog fight on our hands.
Rolex will counter the moonswatch with a Daytona box for $299. The box will serve as a great placeholder whilst you wait on the list. I can see flippers on selling these boxes for an easy 200 percent markup. Maybe they can sell you a beautiful catalog displaying all the sold out watches.

The impossibility of getting new Rolexs (and the price of grey market) doesnt make me as a consumer say "oh man it's limited I gotta try to get one". The harder it becomes the more I throw up the middle finger to Rolex. I applaud all other watch brands for trying to make approachable watches for the consumer!

I might not like what they did but I respect them more for it. It took a lot of balls for them to do it especially the moonSwatch. Omega went balls deep ....
The thing about the new ATs are not the colors rather than why they have to be sun burst dial? The dials with the horizontal lines in color would be amazing and just right. I mean the AT with the green horizontal lines dial is a killer.

They have taken one of the most revered watch models of all times and they playfully made it available to every one in pretty much all colors. As much as I am not an omega fan boy, and I don’t own a single omega: they are clearly coming on top as the kings of cool and I will definitely buy the moonswatch and gift to people I care about and share this fantastic heritage and love for watches made affordable by Omega. It is literally a huge middle finger by one of the largest watch brands to all brands who think they belong only to the world of ether. Bravo Omega !
There’s something liberating by a brand just saying fuck it tbh

@@nobletype want another one… too many people are j*** off and wasting tens of thousands of dollars for 100g of steel to know what time it is… how about this one…
You have been paid by Omega to write this comment
Bad news gang. The mission to Uranus retails at $260 are now selling $1k-4k after 1 day.
@@thereissomecoolstuff those are just troll bids.. these watches are not limited

No doubt they copied, but man those watches are beautiful. I think it was a smart move and Omega is going to be VERY popular in 2022
When it comes to the world of investing, most people don't know where to start. Fortunately great investors of the past and present can provide us with guidance.
Investing in different streams of income in other not to depend on government for funds and avoid all the chitchat about the inflation.
Trading crypto with Expert Michael Saylor has being a game changer for me
I'm so happy for taking the bold step in working and investing $8000 with Mr Michael Saylor Jones after a week I received $24k to my bank
The watch game for manufacturers is about making money and the Swatch group is going to hit a home run here. The lineup are insane
The craziest part is that for someone like me who never considered a regular speedy started to think 7k is very reasonable after seeing miles of a line in front of swatch stores today and those watches are going for 2-3k on eBay……. Mission accomplished omega!
Stop the exaggeration… you can get one for 700 usd.
@@yanooo2007 really?
Check out some of the footage from the store openings, it`s crazy. Stores getting shut down and total chaos. Over a a plastic moon swatch.
You’ve lost your mind
I thought it was funny that Omega introduced 10 colored AT watches and four of them were the same colors as Rolex. Three of them were primary colors. I think there’s a case for the green and gold Speedmaster maybe, but it’s funny to think that Rolex owns red, yellow, blue, and green watches.
You are right.
Agreed. Omega is a much better watch.
Exactly! That lacquered dial doesn't stand a chance against the brushed one, and the co-axial is objectively better in every technical aspect. Funny how some Rolex fanboys think Rolex invented colours dials 😂
"When I was like EIGHT!" - Break it down E....😂🤣😂
Great review Eric. In these times, gratification is common and people can get what they want, the same way Swatch or Omega can do what they want = increase sales!!! The watch is hotter than ever and glad to see all the different models available at different price points. Omega is the ONLY one I see stepping up against Rolex to give consumers an alternative. The market ALWAYS dictates what the people want at the end of the day. Feed the need.
Eric, if you have time film a video for AP. Green dial in stainless steel that will be great! Thanks!
Otw
I'm excited to see what happens, and I can't wait to get one on my wrist one day.
very nice and proper not calling out "BIOPLASTIC in the TITLE nice work, once again...sound was top end, editing very nice, and a solid intro.
In other words, if Omega reads this: Thank you so much to the heads, that made all this happen🙏 I didn't manage to get one out of the first batch but will for sure grab one by the second or third☺️✌️
Accusing Omega beeing a copycat is wrong.
Omega just jumped the shark. In one fell swoop, Omega has completely devalued its brand. I'm not kidding.
That’s simply bs.
It the best marketing move ever.
@@christianhermann1372 No offense but you're obviously not a serious watch guy nor a shrewd businessman, because if you were, you would immediately recognize that Omegs just surrendered to Rolex.... Where's marketing genius behind that?

I like your sentence: "We can't beat Rolex, but we can join them"
Let Omega be… I’m tired of the exclusiveness of other watch makers… waiting list and crazy inflation.
Eric. Not sure how I feel about this. I have several Omega’s in the collection. One is a Speedmaster professional and a Planet Ocean. The main reason I bought them is because they are different.
That was an excellent segment, Eric. Your ironic observation on the “Mission to Uranus” / Tiffany colored variant had me LMAO.

I am not huge on plastic watches, but I still believe the MoonSwatch was one of the most amazing ideas ever seen in the watch industry. I don’t have much interest in owning one, but I fully understand the hype.
“BioCeramic”
why is it when every other watch brand follows certain color trends, you rave about them and how desirable their models are, but when a great watch brand like Omega follows the trend you hate on them. This is not unlike car design trends with big grills and enormous displays and every manufacturer is doing it, then how come they are not seen as copying one another.
Omega did great moves, 👏🏼 bravo Omega. I want to see Rolex comeback. Dudes this hobby interesting, artistic, practical and yes it should be fun . 😃👍🏼
Eric the Omega Speedy is older then the Dayton so are you saying rolex is ripping of Omega

Green dial Speedmaster, solid gold case and bracelet. Brilliant.
Class video, love it 👍🏻
I will give Omega credit for one thing, on the full gold Speedmaster on a strap, by design you can still put the watch on a bracelet UNLIKE the Oyster Flex Daytona variants.
That rose gold panda speedy on rubber strap is my grail watch. Holly crap !!
The line wrapped around the swatch store in Miami today, it was crazy. I heard people were camping out since 4am to get in line for the Moonswatch.
Great review!!!
Yes it will find a place on newcomers who can't afford the "real" one
But, all along I think Omega is a Luxury brand watch and somehow I'm wrong. It was a luxury brand, not anymore.

Imagine being idiot who cares what somebody else thinks about the watch that YOU like? LOL what a joke
The green dial speedy in gold is amazing !
I like those moon swatches I'm buying all 11!!

It’s cool what they do and I’m sure it will work. But it is not increasing the long-term value of the brand. Quite the opposite of what Rolex would do.
How about fifty-fathoms green dive watch? Can you do a review as well?

The rose gold Speedmaster with the green dial looks much, much better to me than the Rolex Daytona with the green dial.
I have 2 2021 Rolex GMT’s that I love on Jubilee. But, I might pick one of these MoonSwatches up to rock in the summer. I will not pay over retail or stand in some long line for, not a chance. My first high end watch was a 1998 Schumacher. I have a dozen Rolex but not a single one will ever reduce my affection for Omega.
Rolex & Omega can go happily hand in hand.
They got it right , every creator on youtube will talk about this and thats a win .
That's just the very thing that Rolex has (mostly) avoided doing in its history.
old adage "if you can't beat them, join 'em"
Yep
Eric, I agree with you with BRAND PRIDE. Bro, Ive been watching those awful Bond movies with Daniel Craig; the last 2 movies Bond wore a watch that looked EXACTLY like a Submariner and the final movie he wore a wannabe Root Beer.
I was saying to myself, when I see these Omega clones it just makes me want to buy a ROLEX. Omega creates beautiful pieces I feel they should stay in their OWN LANE.

That said I do agree that omega has been pretty smart and strategic recently. I just want them to steal enough market share to where both omega and Rolex are readily available.
I do..."The Timepiece GentleHAND", "TimepieceTUGGER", or "The Real TUGG Life"

This is insane...the crowds....ebay over retail...PLEASE...do i want 1...YES
Absolutely Insane
Love them or hate them everyone is talking about Omega. Can’t say the same with their previous releases in past years.
I think Omega is beginning to turn the tide in people’s minds. This weekend the Omega store was full because of the hype from Swatch even though there is no Swatch store here. The Rolex AD next door was empty because they have nothing to sell.
The green seamaster will forever to me be the "green bastard" parts unknown.
Going to go cop a Moonswatch and praying that Eric doesn't catch it on my wrist in while in Miami😔
E Money LOVE your honesty Bruv,
The only thing that annoys me more than Omega releasing _such familiar_ watches are the mental gymnastics that some people are going through to make it look like Omega didn't just copy Rolex.
@@Nefville Who are you responding to?
@@mattg27 Mostly you. Just to be clear I don't even own a Rolex, its just what I see. You can take any one of these in isolation and say its the same color, its the same type of watch, but when you combine all of them together its trend that points to Omega following behind instead of leading the way (not technically, only in appearance and style) and honestly its a shame. I'm sure they have original ideas that were left behind to accommodate these releases.
Another brilliant and balanced video - thank you.
