The best part of this video is showing the components Outside of the door how they fit together. And then doing it again In the door itself.
That is what is lacking in a number of other similar video Helpful about the same Helpful about the same issues

Thank you I was about to disassemble my entire roller system on my screen door 😮 LOL. However your video made me look twice at my PELLA screen door and discovered what you were talking about👍. Thanks however one important point to note is that all screen doors are not created equal…. so The particular brand that you work on would be helpful in the future.

Try spray some WD-40 lubricant. The rollers will slide in easily.

Excellent video.
Great job showing the details of the work. Very professionally done.
I will change out my broken wheel today with your video to help me.
Thank you.
Edit: found that mine engages a soft plastic part (the round part that the roller is pried off) that broke as soon as I tried to spread the roller with my #1 Phillips screw driver. Of course!
So now I have a door that is trash.
You’re welcome and thanks for the feedback. Professionally done might be a stretch… LOL
😎
@@HacksbyDad it seems that some manufacturers make the interior door corners - the part that engages the wheel assembly you showed being replaced - out of plastic entirely. Crazy.
I’m bringing the door to a professional now to have it replaced. 🥺
@@Colorado-Tinkering Oh... I haven't run into that, but I've only worked on a few sliding screen doors. At least you tried. 👍
We owe you beers.
12 pack? Lol
😎
Noice! Super helpful. Great tips and descriptions.

Awesome
Thanks! 👍😎
Excellent video. I will try this. If I remove the wheels, will most hardware stores carry same size wheels?
Thanks!
The rollers weee available at my local Home Depot.
Great video. Nice explanation. Do you recommend the medal over plastic? The ones I want to replace are plastic. Should I stick to plastic?
I personally like the quieter plastic rollers. 😎
Thank you. Is it the same procedure for the glass sliding door?
Similar, but the glass door has different rollers.
I know this is a much later response, but do you have any idea what to do if one of the tabs breaks? We have a similar screen door, but the tabs are plastic. The wheel feel right out when I got the door off the rail and the broken portion of the tab is inside of it. Hoping that I don't have to replace the entire door. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi there... If you're referring to the tab on the roller, you can purchase new rollers or use one from the top of the door (if in good condition). If you're referring to the pegs on the corner brace, you can purchase a new corner brace, but replacing it will require removing the screen and taking apart the frame. Hope this helps.
😎
I hate doing this job espeially with old, old screen door. Getting the prongs to snap into place is a pain in the butt!
Agreed! 👍😎
You mentioned arching motion several times but No idea what that supposed to mean
Good video, but not easy to install the rollers just with the screwdriver. However, after I sprayed some WD-40 lubricant, the rollers slide in easily.
WD-40 to the rescue! 👍😎
What if there is no labeling on the sliding door or screen, how do I figure out what type of roller to buy?
I suggest that you remove the door and remove a roller. You can also check the top of the door… if those rollers are in good condition you can move them to the bottom of the door. 😎
A lot of cuss words preceded my watching this video as I tried to install new rollers. If you didn't post this video - they would still be getting cussed !
Thank you! !
LOL!
I’m glad that you found the video helpful.
😎
@@HacksbyDad You should have put a warning out that the door will now slide so much faster/easier that caution should be in order once the wheels are replaced ! Lol 😅
@@RubberPantz 👍😎
My screen door seems to drag-could bad roller be the problem? Please know the screen was installed in 1982.
It could be the rollers. You can remove the door and try spinning the rollers with your fingers. 😎
My dog ran through the screen door and broke both the entire screen door off. After doing what you showed I realized the wheels aren't broken, what's is broken are the pegs the tabs go into. When I took the wheels out the pegs were stuck and broken into the wheel tabs.
Is there anyway to replace the "pegs" as you called it?
How big is your dog? LOL
Google “Primeline B-569” for the corner insert. It should be available at the Home Depot and Amazon. The Home Depot product page has a how-to replace video. Good luck!
😎
@@HacksbyDad Thanks! That looks like it should work. Will get it and get it done. Believe it or not, it's a Sheppard puppy only 25 lbs right now. But I imagine the wheels were already failing since it's her 10th time running into it lol
@@de8784 👍😎
I'm a genius now, I did it with the least amount of swearing
👍😎
Where did your 4 new rollers ?
Amazon... a link is in the video description. The rollers should also be available at Home Depot.
I bought a package of 2 for around $5-$6 from Lowes.
Nope. There's no rocking that clip into place. The wheel crumbles
Great, it's easy to replace the bad one.
👍😎
