Glad you did this. I dont speedrun but play both the original on an original xbox and the chief collection and they play very differently.
What would you say are the main differences?
Which do you prefer? The extra resolution and fps on modern Xbox is much appreciated. We are so lucky to have all the halos on one game. Halo mcc launch was rough and they fixed it years later. The fact they have abandoned halo mcc is truly sad and now hackers are on the game

This is the original release, so this is the most faithful.
I guess Gearbox should've buffed enemy health on PC to compensate for the better weapon accuracy.

I don't have the same emotional reaction to MCC campaign, I'm now realizing. The sound, FOV, resolution, etc. all has to be there.

Absolutely loved all the small edits 😆 GG, it might have been 2:31:51, it still means you probably played in less frames overall than any other version of the game, especially during the Maw 😅

It's amazing seeing the tricks work in the original. Shows that they kept it exactly the same. Makes me happy that we still get to play it on halo mcc. So sad that Microsoft has abandoned halo mcc and that's a mistake
I don't speedrun, but the Plasma Pistol tracking is why I just spam normal shots with it on my Legendary runs lmao
I also just spam regular shots with the plasma pistol, it was always more efficient
However I never thought about the reason, now I know it was because the awful tracking
You should open your xbox and rip out the clock capacitor with some pliers, it's a faulty part and will eventually burst and kill the motherboard.
Funnily enough, I did look into it, and I have the newer model of the original Xbox that does not have the faulty clock capacitor. So I lucked out there.
@@nervydestroyer Nice, I always go for the older models because they're easier to mod.
You can get a native hdmi 1080p output with those, and install chips that add a form of dlss to get rid the the jagged edges.
I’ve seen those and have debated doing it for a while… will probably get another Xbox just so I can leave my childhood one more “vanilla”.

You would like the OGX360 mod since it lets you use the xbox one controller on the Original xbox.

I never got an xbox as a kid but i found one with halo ce by the side of the road and have been practicing speed runs.

My best friend had a third party controller whose sticks were way too tight for campaign use. However, it was too good for when we would play Snipers against each other. It was the only way I could compete with my friends, who were all slightly better than me otherwise so felt good.

I wish they made the menus of this on mcc the same style they where in the original game. Although it might be a bit much if they did that for each game’s style of menu.
If it was just for campaign, and later, customisations, I'd be down. Keep the MCC menu for multiplayer, or have the multiplayer tab in the game's OG menu move you to the MCC one.
Honestly biggest loss for me is the loading screens, I miss seeing Vergil's map overviews in ODST :(
@@IncarnateSable I can see that being a good compromise to keep it consistent especially for multiplayer….I miss the original Halo CE(Combat Evolved) loading screen with the ring and wiping blue light it was a neat and fun addition I feel.
I still have my original Xbox, but I have no idea what happened to the cables and controller.
Thank you for confirming that the og XBOX is much harder than the MCC. I watched a couple of playthrough and have seen all those Elite headshots. I kept wondering, how much harder is it on the OG console?
Much harder definitely. Just the start of AotCR gives me trouble, sure I could get better too.

Duke isn't uncomfortable it's just big which people were never use too so always complained for some reason. It's otherwise very ergonomic and probably much better quality sticks and triggers than S revision.
FYI the og graphics are differnt than all of the other versions of this game. Halo PC and Mac compressed a lot of the graphics and you lose a lot of textures. The og source code has been lost and so every version after uses these ugly compressed "original" graphics, not the more vibrant og xbox ones
