My grandfather had a horse (1 horse power!) and cart with a tank on it with 1/2" water pipe with holes drilled in for the 6ft boom. He used tobacco factory scrap soaked in water to create a nicotine spray to control aphids on potatoes. We are talking 1920 or thereabouts! He was thought to be wildly advanced with that set up! This was in the county of Essex, 20 miles north of London. We now have a 280 hp Fendt 828 on a Horsch Leeb trailed sprayer with a 36 metre boom which is about 18 times as wide and does 1,000 acres a day with ease. It even has mini jet washers to keep the LED lights on the boom clean. Things have changed a bit. Would have loved to use a time machine to take it back to 1920 and show his young self what the future has in store.
Mike we have a toggle switch in our Tridents that override the speed limiter when loaded,so we can always go top speed. I think our dealer installed it, not 100% sure.
Mike. That was a great program. I grew up on the farm before the days of airconditioned cabins for anything. Setting up and using modern equipment is amazing. Great viewing for anyone who is interested in modern farming techniques. Its no surprise that you have so many viewers.
When Mike says byebye, it´s really just the five minute marker until the video ends ;D I´m a bit amazed though, that with all that technology they don´t even have a test mode button for something like this sprayer. I mean, you constantly need to do checks like you just did, be it to verify adjustments, nozzles or otherwise. It could just reset the next time you went faster than 1 or 5 or whatever mph and it would be just as "safe". Seems like manufacturers have fired a lot of their practical people nowadays. Also like that handrailing you mentioned. "Sure, lets put this twisted piece of tubing in the way, so noone can see the boom on this side, just in case a toddler comes along and fall off this machine."
Yes. Good point. I noticed that this Trident has dual wheels on each corner presumably set to run between the crop rows. With tilled soil and all that spraying I expect that soil compaction would be a problem
I loved watching this video and learned a few things. It looks to me like and seems to me that the software and technology it has is difficult and complicated to use, but that's just me and how it looks and seems to me though. Is it really difficult and complicated or is it just me?
Have you seen the 2022 Hagie they totally upgraded it. Also 20mph in field spraying. Key fob check individual nozzles for proper working etc.. I saw it on 6th Generation Farms.
The new tridents got rid of that bull hockey speed sense junk. They just have field and road modes, which I believe are in the raven. 40mph fully loaded now buddy. I like the idea of the trident but absolutely hate the old magnum cab and the loudness of sitting right on the hydro's. The new autoboom is straight money. Love the content Mike.
Anytime I see the glass breaker in the corner of a cab I always wonder if anyone has actually had to use one to break out a window. The poop would have to be hitting the fan pretty hard for a person to need that I would think.
I’m glad someone else hates pro 700s as much as me. Case really dropped the ball with their task controller for the DJ components on air seeders. I’ve been slowly switching out to Trimble monitors.
Hello Mike my brother-in-law invented the raven autoboom. Would you consider putting a flag on your equipment? Thanks for sharing with us have a great day.
Raven monitors, booms, axle adjustments….blah blah blah. What I really want to know is HOW BIG IS THE CUP HOLDER and if it’s on the right hand side…!!!
@@max-jc4wq I’ve watched all of Mike’s videos, but you’re asking a little too much out of a “middle-aged timer” like me; I don’t have the memory space between the ears to know if he talked about it or not. Besides, I was being flippant in my comment. 😉
I do front-end web design for a living... that Raven interface looks aweful! And SO slow. Wow. Do you ever get confused what each button does seeing as it's just the icon? I was always taught to NEVER use icons without a label! Especially when there are many icons on the same screen.
that bothers me too. From all modern machinery computer interface only Claas knows what they are doing with UI/UX design. (I gues it's because they worked with the design team on that one) But I don't know how about their interface speed. Pretty much every company makes ugly or too stuffed interface. And that's bugging me.
Designers always think they make the best designs. 😀 A web interface may not be the best in an environment that is bouncing and moving. Much different than using a desktop or sitting in a nice chair on a solid floor. If the users like the interface, it's great. The most important job is to get the field work done. Speed is important when in the field, not as important when setting up prefs. The hard part of design is learning what is actually needed by the user. Coding is easy, after all, that's just typing! 🤪
Not sure I would give the operator so many choices on placement. Thinking trouble shooting over the phone might be difficult along with documentation. Seen on some systems when operators have the ability to place icons shift change over can be less than ideal.
Thanks for this video. Made me appreciate my Deere sprayer even more. So much nicer and user friendly than that thing I like that Raven monitor though.
All autosteer systems are like that. I have used Ag-leader, raven, trimble, and JD. All the screens are laggy and unresponsive. I'll never understand how they can charge thousands of dollars for a screen and yet a 300 dollar used iPad gives a better experience. Raven is one of the better ones too.
I just recently bought one of these viper 4s for my case patriot they are just short of 10 grand for that thing but it is way better then the old viper pro s

Nice video I'm a big fan of the trident can't wait to see the newer models!
That thing looks bad ass
That's a very nice machi, you can everything with it I ques.👍
Another getter done mike day
If you look under the seat you'll find a broom stick that double as a remote control to press all those buttons on the corner post.
Not sure if that's a great idea or too lazy?.?.?. Its easy to get too big sitting in a machine all day.
He already has enough issues with front glass breakage on eqpt. May not help..
Great awesome video mike,
Mike you gonna demo the Deere sprayer this year? Would love to see what you think of the user interface on the Deere sprayer's
I think that if they were going to, it would be already there. 🤔
Unusual looking beast of a sprayer!! But good idea!! Blinging mods there 🙂😅
My '02 Amazone 3 point hitch sprayer is starting to feel pretty feckin dated. 🤔
Hey Mike it looks like you need to update that monitor. It shouldn't have that pro 700 look in it. The updates are way better
Split axle adjustment is good for minimizing compact in the right conditions with floats on (I think that you call them floats - big tyres)
Yes. Good point. I noticed that this Trident has dual wheels on each corner presumably set to run between the crop rows. With tilled soil and all that spraying I expect that soil compaction would be a problem

‘This is just a 120ft boom’ here in the uk big boom is 40 ft

can you get floaters for the trident?

Curious to see the wheel spacing adjustment in action, does it mess up the tires / road ?
Did you buy this now?
Great Video, Very good information about the way you operate your sprayer, the gear system seems a bit fussy, Thanks for sharing

That monitor is the ticket! I've heard some good and some bad about the Ravens but they seem top notch and very user friendly to me.
thought you were really dry there didn’t think you’d need duals on your spray unit
Why not it cuts down on compaction and rides better. Easier on the chassis and boom
