Let’s not forget that that “7 year old hardware” can run games like TLOU2, God of War and Ghost of Tsushima flawlessly, and those games came out within the last 3 years
And on the xbox one side of things, games like halo 5, gears 5, AC odyssey, AC Valhalla, fuck even warframe looks and runs great on the base xbone.

@@fenggula7890 The difference is that CDPR isn't known to be scummy unlike EA and Activsiion. They've done a lot more good than bad and it's gonna take more than one bad release for me to drop them. The outrage is justified but CDPR set themselves up for failure when they kept giving a release date. They knew it wasn't ready but backed themselves into a corner where couldn't delay again. Sucks because the game itself is amazing.

Cyberpunk was also developed in 4 years (2016- 2020, if you count from the last Witcher 3 DLC), or 7 years (2013-2020, if you count from the announcement.)

what some people that are too occupied with sucking cd projekt red's balls don't see is the console versions are all last gen versions. Ps5 and series x run it through backwards compatibility, the real next gen versions are coming next year which makes the fact this game is not running well on old consoles that much more pathetic.
This reminds me of when Destiny 1 came out for the 360 and PS3. The difference here is that CDPR doesn't even have a next-gen version ready yet.
Exactly! Their PR person needs a raise! He saved them in my eyes; in that, I (and many others) will buy another game from them by a very narrow margin of missed error. Although, it will still remain the PC version only more than likely though; this is the FIRST game I have ever planned on purchasing on PC instead of console. I am aImost through with consoles now anyway. I think CDPR were attempting originally to develop for all consoles, but realized they could own the next gen console release if they could drop development on the current/old gen consoles and allow them to push the envelope and pulled an E3 Watch Dogs..tried to anyway...Hear me out: All game development uses PCs, and then they scale things back for each console prior to compiling the program/app. By scaling down this gorgeous PC game, they would pull a Ubisoft and people would gripe about how the old gen looked bad. But, that wasn't the case was it? They developed a PC only game, in the likes of the arcade to NES era type; it had to be scaled down too much, to where a whole new game would need to made. Remember the Wii and Call of Duty? Think that. They pushed on, the game went gold, BUT one oversight got them....the next gen of consoles that could be akin to Dreamcast's days of Soul Calibur in the arcade, were out of stock and no one had them. I would put all my Eddies on my theory and they had a hard choice, as OP put it; they were going to catch flack...they could choose what type and they made the lesser of the evils. I think the April 2020 date was something they truly wanted and developed it on PC for, and would water it down, a la Watchdogs, and be good to go. That didn't happened and they realized they had to do some major building block changes to get it to run on consoles, hence the delay to November. It sucked, but everyone knows the adage of delayed vs rushed games; so we accepted it because of CDPR's reputation they have well earned. Skip ahead to a few months of the back end, engine level designers, riggers, artists, you name it; all realizing this couldn't be accomplished via a simple pared down version. So, they had two choices....spend what time they had getting the PC as bug free as possible, with the PS5 and XBox Series getting the same ( as we are in the era of Console Branded PCs) and delay the games release to attempt to make a CP77 Lite version ready for current gen. Or, delay it until this time next year, in April and get it up to snuff on the older gen consoles; and everyone would wonder why they wasted their time, as most will have the next gen. They gambled and matched the dealer; how? Well they made damn sure the PC version was as good to go as it could, as a game gets only one first impression and hoped the next gen consoles would have actually launched with an adequate supply. Then, the minority of people upset and having to wait would have been a drastically smaller number than today, as no one has them hardly. Every notice when the delays were initially announced? Week of new console dates and 3000 series GPUs. They tried to pull a GTA5 and failed in that regard. Why, you may ask? Because, this isn't GTA and bugs break RPGs superbad and GTA pedestrian number and character detail are mud compared to this on my GTX 1070. Granted, I had to tweak the settings to get it working just right; but that is every PC game almost. But, it was worth it and I "get" what they reached for with this game's immersion, storytelling, and RPG Cyberpunk style...they nailed it. Would I feel this way if my first play through was on a regular XBone; I highly doubt it and would be hard pressed to trust CDPR with my console game money again. This is why they did what they did at the TOP of the company, all while developers knew the game they made is something special and genre shaking; and had to watch it get picked apart by pissed of old console generation players...rightfully so. They get one more chance from me; HELLO GAMES NO MANS SKY; I think they learned their lesson. If not, we may have a corporate split soon. I would be pissed off if I were a chef and my signature dish was about to be served to the president and the restaurant owner pulls it out of the oven too soon, causing our reviews to tank and me, the chef, catching flack. CDPR devs did a smashing job; the EA greed mongers at the top gots to go! Yeah, they presold 8M copies on a lie and pulling it out of the oven prior to Christmas in hopes of everyone just being able to buy a $500 console in this nonexistent economy; and on consoles that can't play it; refunds will hopefully help them get their heads recalibrated. But, 2077 seems more accurate to me of what the actual year may be like; I think it will (depressingly so) beat out Back to the Future II on it's predictions. Side note: WE are 57 years from 2077 and 35 years removed from Back2theFutureII's predictions.

@@gamagama69 I play at 900p. Don't have a 1080p monitor unfortunately. And the integrated graphics are connected with the second monitor. Plus sometimes just increase the fans. Also I don't think my integrated graphics would be able to run the game at the settings I use. Not to to say they're high but for integrated graphics they would be high

Facts. In my area there is at least 100 consoles between both Xbox and PlayStation and they’re all trying to sell them for $1,000+. Walmart and Best Buy randomly stock up and won’t give any info out so you have to take your chances everyday and it isn’t worth. All I wanna do is play this damn game

Wasn’t this game supposed to be released back in like April even before the ps5. So no this wasn’t supposed to be a next gen game anyway.
I don't know exactly the reason it got delayed, but maybe it was this exact reason. They might have noticed that the slow CPU might go up in flames.
Everyone is getting confused by the next gen terminology, current gen is next gen and last gen is too technically(if you have the upgraded console versions)

The developers only need to know the specs of the next generation to develop a game for it. They don't physically need a ps5 to develop for it. In fact, high end gaming PCs are miles better than the hardware within a ps5 anyhow

"next gen" referrs to the type of technologies used in the game,such as streaming decompression and Raytracing.
They just havent released a console version of the full next gen experience. The next gen version is only on pc for now, but even the previous gen version requires too much processor power to be used on the old base consoles. The streaming decompression ties up most of the old base console's cpu time, leaving insufficient time to process Physics simulations, etc, resulting in a lot of problems. These problems manifest when the CPU is being over taxed and rushed. when a collision should be detected, the cpu isnt having enough time to test all of the constraints , making you go through objects or the ground. not to mention the big elephant in the room, The Hard drive has insufficient speed to get those assets to the cpu on time, resulting in LOOONG load times on the textures. The game has more objects on more of the screen, and you move quickly through the world , so its easy to REACH an npc or building before its textures have been streamed in, and decompressed. There might be a few things that can be made less buggy, but without sacrificing a HUGE amount of graphical elements, resolution, and simulations not to mention light sources , scenery and npc count, the game wont ever be smooth on ps4 and xb1. To be clear, there are improvements to be made, but the game just by the nature of the technologies that have been brought to console from pc, make the last gen base systems under powered for anything LIKE CP2077.
I dont know if you would reply with the statement i've heard others use, but RDR2, and CP2077 are not comparable. RDR2 uses no where near the number of simulations, has no where near the number of objects that need to be individually textured and animated and placed in the world, doesnt have anywhere near number of simultanious objects on the screen, no where near the NPC count, etc etc etc. Its a different engine as well.
(the way to see this all is true, the ps4 pro and xbox 1 x both are using the same version of the game as the base console. if the performance problems were ONLY bugs, the game should be just as bad on those machines, and it isnt. ) that, and the drives in the base units can not transfer data quickly enough to stream in assets. the game needs about 500mb/s to stream smoothly, but those older systems can only provide at best, 70mb/s. (40mb/s on average)

i once played a ps3 game on emulator with 5-10 fps. Fun times
my laptop can at least handle up to 40 frames. there are times where it spikes down but those are mostly bearable.

Right, that game scales amazingly, and I’ve only played it personally on a One X, my wife played it once on a One S and it still looked and ran decent. The PC videos I saw for it looks years ahead of most games out.
Your ignorance is palpable. Red dead redemption 2 does not in any way utilize as many simulations, graphical assets, and is no where near as demanding as cp2077. They are in different engines, and are not comparable to each other. RDR2 has only a few things on the screen at once, where there are Hundreds if not more High rez meshes and gigabytes of textures from top of the screen to the bottom in Cp2077. There are many times more things on the screen at once in Cp2077, many times more lighting sources, many times more textures and a metric butt ton of Physics simulations happening all while those little potato cpu's are being asked to decompress their files on the fly. The jaguar cpu cores in the base consoles DO NOT, have sufficient power to handle all that at once. RDR2 features a mostly static world that doesnt use alot the console's CPU , atleast when compared to 2077. This argument only has validity to people who dont understand their gaming hardware.

However, i have to say that Cyberpunk actually runs pretty well on my mediocre PC hardware. I'm on a RX 480 4gb (Barely hits minimum requirement) with a Ryzen 5 2700 and 2x8GB of RAM, and i can play on 50 FPS on low to medium settings, even in gunfights or car drives. Didn't expect that at all.
Still, your point remains valid. The game is extremely unpolished in terms of AI and bugs

That's what happens when you announced your game nearly a decade ago, you kinda need to keep up the progress of newer gaming hardware with better graphics and contents but at the same time you have to also optimized that said game to be atleast playable on the current/older generation with decent FPS.

Exactly. It was originally meant to come out in April this year, before COVID hit...before the 'next-gen' consoles had even released...
And there literally is no 'next-gen' version. Like, the only versions that exist on consoles are for PS4 and Xbox1, and the new consoles are just playing with backwards compatibility, and it obviously looks a bit smoother and crisper (but still is a mess).
So, obviously it IS a NEXT-GEN game by default. Since PS4 and XBOX One can't really run it. Makes me wonder if the consoles were running it at Digital Foundry's Optimized Settings could fix that. The reason the PS5 and Series X versions aren't out has to be because CDPR is shitting themselves knowing if performance on the NEXT-GEN consoles sucks, there will DEFINITELY be Hell to pay. Lol. I'm running mine on my RIG at 1440p 60+FPS with Digital Foundry's Optimized Settings now. NEXT-GEN for me. It really looks SO much better than the current consoles, not just the fact it runs better.
