As I am sure you already know, Dragonstand is needed for Crystalline Ore, which is used for legendary gen 2s, legendary raid armor and some other things.
Honestly, I love all of the meta events in Heart of Thorns. In general, you run around doing events in different areas of the map, maybe calling for a volunteer to help with something, then it brings everyone together at the same location for a large boss fight and a reward corridor. Just wonderful.
I have had quite a few new players messaging in game asking questions, might be the Hs tag idk. I give them an answer and also promote the wiki. It has been alot fun lately. Ended up talking to this guy Spike for 3 hours about gw2 stuff. So much young blood and the Decade Armor set has really also spread the love in the core game. Awesome armor set highly recommend you pick it up once you have the time. gg
Love your zero-to-hero videos but had to throw this next bit in for accuracy. gw efficiency is good for overall account value, but it is not good for giving accurate farming value, because it tracks your overall account value, not just the farmed amount. I farmed Sivlerwaste for 2 hours a bit ago, and it told me that I lost 500 gold over the two hours. It told me this because one of my items in storage lost significant value during that time. You can supposedly click the little box to avoid this, but it doesn't work.
Only thing I dislike about Dragon Stand is that it feels a lot like "follow the leader", specially before the boss fight where you all run like idiots in circles. Dragon's End did nail down how to have a event where you do the right thing out of autonomy and not because you have to do the exact thing the commander is doing,
So yesterday Dragon Stand was part of the Dailies. It was funny so many new players who've never done it and some who'd not done it since 2015. Most of the squad I was in had no clue. We go in and knock down the preservers and then 90+% of the squad run to the boss and there's like me and two others running the circle keeping the preservers down. It is the closest I've seen it come to failing in years. And the number of people trying to kill the beetles instead of drawing them to the spore was amazing. I and five others ended up bouncing between blighting rooms saving the meta, I thought for sure it was going to fail.
I'm pretty new to Guild Wars 2, even though I'm Mastery lvl 230 at this point, I just finished the story. I lucked out big time and got a spot in the Mordremoth Event less than 1 hour after finishing the HoT story. A MUCH more satisfying ending to the expansion than the regular story fight, to put it mildly.
Dragon's Stand really is something special. It is a real shame that the combination of power creep and general better strats/knowledge has sped up the fight so much. You often one burn the 3 mini bosses so you have minimal interaction with the tenders and the blighting pods. And then at the Mouth you one burn it so you almost never see the split phase with the bosses.
If you want the feel of how it used to be, go there for a "reset run" just before the daily reset (reset happens partway through progress of the meta, so you get your loot in the next day). I did one last week and it was hairy and chaotic as anything. We lost an island completely, we had TWO Vinegrowth phases, it was awesome :D
@@AlaiaSkyhawk Reset happens sadly at 1AM for me in Europe so that is not so realistic to do nowadays. But it is fine for me because I was there at launch so I have got my fair share of failed meta events under my belt :P It is just a shame that new and returning players might not really get the full experience. Same thing happens with World Bosses like the Shatterer. He does one breath attack and then he gets CC'ed and he is dead in 30 seconds. He never gets the opportunity to do his shard storm attack where he flies up and does his cool attack or even summon his healing crystals. You don't really see the mechanics that differentiates the bosses from each other, so they can have a habit of blending together and just become HP sponges that you just hit for a bit until they die. A fight that can be beaten super fast if you do mechanics correctly is good but it can give the "wrong" first impression if you as a new player don't know about the mechanics to the fight. To them you just reduced the HP to 0% and you won because of that.
@@Thakrulll You don't see the shard attack or the crystals at Shatterer??? That's odd. Every time I've done that boss over the last few months, he always gets at least 1 shard attack off, and always does a crystal phase. Then again I don't follow the WB train specifically/don't join any squads. I just show up in the map and stick on the one where I land, which I imagine is how it will be for most new players. Perhaps since I'm not making the effort to join the really organised map, I'm always in a map where the full mechanics get to run.
@@AlaiaSkyhawk Okay yeah that is fair. I mostly do Shatterer when it is a daily or for daily event completer. So that one might be a little more chaotic when you are on an unorganized map. It was probably a bad example. It was the first one that came to mind. A better one might be the Death-branded Shatterer then. For that one I only see the full DPS strat and never the split-up for the Riftstalkers. But that might be different also if you are on an empty map and not doing it with a commander. So I guess it depends on how players get to the maps/bosses. Just running around exploring or following a commander around. But yeah. Looping back to the core Shatterer. I have seen new players on organized maps getting disappointed that the fights were super short. So it does happen but it might not be super common.
Just came across this event today, great fun and tons of Hero/Mastery Points, I like some are locked behind the event area. Loving the series, have had the game a while although rarely played, got EoD with a bundle including HoT and PoF so great following along - although went with an Engineer as already level 80 from base game.
i made a new account recently as well and for story unlocks i went with the strike rout for gearing, icebrood 1 and 2 for free accessory and amulet, then ofc i got crack in the ice as well for tat berry, now saving up for buying the rest in bulk dont sleep on the eod spec collection as well btw, those give free weapon + full stat selectable ring + amulet + accessory
This is a wonderful event AFTER SIX MONTHS when most people knew how to handle the towers .. before that it was a PITA failing at the towers due to one of the lanes not managing to keep their boss down .. which even if they managed to recover some other lane had a boss respawn due to not managing the pods. The backlash was entirely valid, same as with EOD's end meta!
Hello i have gathered 1000 gold and not sure what to do with it. Is it worth to buy whole icebrood saga or living world 4? Or just one or two chapters?
HoT was/is so good in that department. There are some rare drops in the form of the Lightward's Battlestaff (70G) and the Lightward's Battlehammer (20G). There used to be some more expensive rare drops from it but they have all crashed in value because the content is 7 years old at this point. There are other things that you can get that are accountbound so those things hold their value forever if you value skins and things like that. You will get access to a vendor at the end with unique stuff like runes needed for the elite spec weapon collections. And you can buy plated weapons that unlocked the corresponding machined weapon collection. And during the meta and after the meta there spawns the noxious pods. They are opened with machetes and they give all sorts of items. They give the machined weapon parts needed to completing the collections and they give crystalline ore that is a vital part of the crafting of Gen2 legendary weapons and the legendary Raid armors. You also get the chance to kill 3 treasure mushrooms that spawn after the meta event is done. Those can drop invisible foot wear that sells for 1900 Gold.
Account value is variable depending on what you have and the market for those mats. My account value fluctuates between 135K and 150K like a ping-pong ball and I do relatively nothing, it's all the invisible heartless hand of the market.
I will do it more if you make me understand the lore of it...who do you kill in that meta if you kill the plant dragon 's mind in the story, and if that is not the dragon , then explat why do we fight the moth in the temple strike...THE LORE IN THIS GAME IS SO FECKED!...
Why does his character have 20k HP in newbie gear? I hope it isn't like ESO scaling up starting characters... cause that systems sucks and destroyed out feeling for the game completely when we decided to restart playing it.
We are thinking of starting playing the game since the last time we tried in the beta ;) ** EDIT ** Just noticed this has dynamic scaling.. this is a bummer. I want to work my way to the top..I should not be able to enter a dungeon that is meant to be higher then my level allows. Only time I think dynamic scaling is ok it to "downlevel" a player to allow an old player to play together with his newbie friends.
@@thrilled99 Players are NOT upleveled in PvE (only downscaled in low level areas). When people talk about "dynamic scaling" they are most likely referring to events/bosses scaling to the amount of players present (so they don't insta die to 50+ players, but can still be done with a lot less). To answer your initial question - the character in this video is max lvl already and using "exotic" quality gear (which is only slightly worse than the best gear quality - think about purple vs gold quality in ESO) with stats that increase hp.
he's not in newbie gear, he used a boost to make his character instantly level 80 and it came with generic level 80 gear. considering the content he's making specifically here, there was no need for him to grind to 80 the hard way.
Imagine gw2 attracts new players to steam just to make a certain elite spec completely unenjoyable and have no uniqueness the very next patch. A let down.

I also got a dandy bluster from this event, which i sold for 33g. It's an exotic pistol which people want for the skin (wasn't to my taste though).
