This movie is so beautiful. They were both friends (classmates) and the straight guy didn't know that he is gay. His friend is in love with his mother, and yes they were together. Eventually, he confessed with his best friend and to his mother about his sexuality. He even told his mother that he's in love for the first time but didn't say who he was, bec. he didn't want to hurt his mother. He has had a serious heart defect since being a child and couldn't live any longer and his mother knows that but a miracle happened. Until his mother found out that his illness triggered and his heart is getting worse. His mother lately knew that he was getting hurt every time he saw them together with his best friend, whom he badly fell in love with the first time. His mother took everything she could to save her dying son. So she broke up with the guy and asked if he could instead, love his dying son, at least for the remaining number of days left for him.

Well since you asked I’ll give you some spoilers. First the movie is a good story but it does end in sadness. The mom and BFF do end up together in the end. The son and BFF do have sex with each other too. The whole love triangle thing is kinda of a mess lol.
