In Kirby Star Allies, you can play as Marx as free DLC, and it's revealed he's actually a pretty pleasant guy if well-fed. Apparently, he did all this JUST BECAUSE HE WAS HUNGRY. So, instead of making himself a sandwich or something, he got the sun and moon to fight and tricked Kirby into letting him wish for cosmic power so he can rule the universe. No part of this plan makes sense or involves getting food to stop being hungry. edit: BTW they let him keep the cosmic power Edit 2: yall make a really good point. He couldn't make a sandwich bc he has no arms. He still didn't give himself arms when he wished for cosmic power, so it's still weird tho.
I love how Marx sounds insane, like he has no sense of morality. However, in the second half it seems like Marx knows what he’s doing, like with lyrics “I have been strange, I know that I’m deranged.” It’s this emotion that both the singer and the lyrics have that makes me love MOTI covers.

This does a great job to emphasize a curious difference between Marx jevil and Dimentio. Dimentio is for the kind of chaos he can control from what I can tell. He doesn't seem to care how the future ends up, only caring that he's the one who shapes it. Jevil is more maddened chaos. It isn't malicious, rather his insane ramblings are what he sees as the truth overall. Marx is SADISTIC chaos. While he does also want control in a sense, you can get a vibe that he would want Pop Star specifically so he can burn it all himself.

@@hannahbg1852 I feel Jevil's insanity is more like legit, developed insanity, he's realized the world is quite literally a game, hence he threatens children because he thinks it's fun and knows there wouldn't be consequences, because the entire world of Deltarune is a game. All he really wants to do is cause mischeif and wouldn't care if a few people died along the way because he knows they're not real and it could all be reloaded.
Creepy? Check. Terrifying? Check. Adorable when not in boss form? Check. Good, we hit all the major Kirby End Boss bullet points, we're ready to launch.
Well, Marx's first appearance was an idea to get Kirby to make Nova to stop the Sun and Moon fighting, but a Top 10 Anime Betrayals hapened and he became all-powerful. The Galeem and Dharkon theme COULD be made out of it, but I doubt that's what he meant.

I can kinda see that. Marx did what he did to cause "as much mischieft as he wanted" (stated by Marx in Super Stat Ultra, which is known to be closer to the Japanese transcript). Presumably he was just bored with everything and wanted something that was actually thrilling. Like Junko who is bored of everything and despair is the only enjoyable thing to her

I feel as if Marx Soul was somehow in this. Hearing that "No more control", and the second verse of "'Cause this is my fantasy", with a much eviler laugh, just gives that image. If anything of a genocidal jester who can evolve into a demon with an ear-blasting scream as its death, I find it pretty cool, despite Soul being non canon.
Sort of. Marx is evil in Super Star for disputed reasons, and Soul is just a pure embodiment of that evil. The longer Kirby fights him, the more demented the evil Marx becomes. Note that I say "the evil Marx", because he was good in Star Allies. Personally, I believe the "Marx was evil because he was hungry" idea, because it makes sense.
Drawcia Soul from Kirby: Canvas Curse was not locked behind a boss rush unlike most of the other Soul bosses, so I suppose she's canon. It's possible that Marx Soul and Soul of Sectonia were both what-if scenarios and therefore non-canon.
I pretty much had a stroke when I saw the notification. MARX! Also this makes me want a Kirby Super Star Musical. Edit: The line “At least I dared to dream” shows that Marx really just wanted his dream of ruling/destroying Popstar and becoming a god to come true, but of course Kirby had to come and stop his schemes.

"I am well aware of that. No, I am here to warn you that your friend, Kirby, is coming to get you." "Kirby? Hah! That pink punk really is foolish to think he can stop me!" "I highly doubt that." The jester sighs. "I am here to strike a deal with you." "I'm interested." Marx says. "Team up with me and we will be able to destroy more worlds. Deal?" Without hesitation, Marx yells, "Yes!" "Very good." The jester laughs. "Now what do I do?" Marx asks. "What you do is wait... for now." The jester explains. "When Kirby comes, fight him but don't kill him yet. After a while, a portal will appear, throw Kirby into the portal and then go into the portal yourself. We will kill him there." Marx laughs to confirm that he understands. "Good. I shall see you there." The jester says before creating a portal and walking towards it. "Wait!" Marx yells. "What is your name, new friend?" The jester stops and turns back to Marx. He smiles. "I am Dimentio."
Playback Speeds... Normal: Ah, this seems nice. Let’s see how creepy we can make it. 0.5x: The Music gets very creepy, but the vocals make Marx sound like he’s just come back from the dentist and is still on that laughing gas high. 0.75x: Slows the voice to make it scarier, but not too much to make it sound funny. The music is also slower, bringing out the notes and providing a scary mood. 2x: The vocals are terrifying, Marx scares me. But the music then sounds like a happy Disney musical solo, so... not sure if it makes Marx more demented or more like a Disney protagonist, but it makes him more of something. Normal: Terrifying as fuck bois
0.25x: The music is very creepy (think if Kirby was a Satanic horror movie*) but Marx is now drunk. Well I guess a drunk genocidal OP jester is a good reason for music to be creepy. 1.25x: The music isn’t as creepy, but everything (both the music and the vocals) have a chaotic, panicked feel to them. It’s surprisingly rhythmic to begin with, but pretty soon (as in about 2 seconds into the music) the frequent time signature changes throw you off. 1.5x: Similar to the 1.25x, but the panic increases. The music is cheerier. I.75x: The panic of the last speed is still present, but it’s actually more joyful. I think that as a general rule for this song, the slower the music, the creepier the music gets, and the faster the music gets, the creepier the vocals get.
I like to think that the first half of the song is sung by Marx, and the second half is sung by Marx soul EDIT: especially since in the first half he says I'm in control, and in the second half he says no more control

This is actually really well-constructed. I like the idea of the first half being vs. Marx while the second half is vs. Marx Soul. The finale section being when he regains some semblance of his sanity.

All he really wants to do is cause mischeif and wouldn't care if a few people died along the way because he knows they're not real and it could all be reloaded.

I feel as if Marx Soul was somehow in this.

Sort of. Marx is evil in Super Star for disputed reasons, and Soul is just a pure embodiment of that evil. The longer Kirby fights him, the more demented the evil Marx becomes. Note that I say "the evil Marx", because he was good in Star Allies. Personally, I believe the "Marx was evil because he was hungry" idea, because it makes sense.
I think everything in the true arena is non-cannon BESIDES the soul bosses, sooo... Knock yourself out.

Drawcia Soul from Kirby: Canvas Curse was not locked behind a boss rush unlike most of the other Soul bosses, so I suppose she's canon. It's possible that Marx Soul and Soul of Sectonia were both what-if scenarios and therefore non-canon.

Marx laughs to confirm that he understands.
"Good. I shall see you there." The jester says before creating a portal and walking towards it.
"Wait!" Marx yells. "What is your name, new friend?"
The jester stops and turns back to Marx. He smiles.

Normal: Ah, this seems nice. Let’s see how creepy we can make it.
0.5x: The Music gets very creepy, but the vocals make Marx sound like he’s just come back from the dentist and is still on that laughing gas high.
0.75x: Slows the voice to make it scarier, but not too much to make it sound funny. The music is also slower, bringing out the notes and providing a scary mood.
2x: The vocals are terrifying, Marx scares me. But the music then sounds like a happy Disney musical solo, so... not sure if it makes Marx more demented or more like a Disney protagonist, but it makes him more of something.

0.25x: The music is very creepy (think if Kirby was a Satanic horror movie*) but Marx is now drunk. Well I guess a drunk genocidal OP jester is a good reason for music to be creepy.
1.25x: The music isn’t as creepy, but everything (both the music and the vocals) have a chaotic, panicked feel to them. It’s surprisingly rhythmic to begin with, but pretty soon (as in about 2 seconds into the music) the frequent time signature changes throw you off.
1.5x: Similar to the 1.25x, but the panic increases. The music is cheerier.
I.75x: The panic of the last speed is still present, but it’s actually more joyful.
I think that as a general rule for this song, the slower the music, the creepier the music gets, and the faster the music gets, the creepier the vocals get.

Honestly, the line at 3:34 has so much potential. Its delivery is chilling, yet the lyrics themselves are almost hopeful.
