Raised my roommate's dog for him, and after 5 years he is officially mine now. Took him to a new vet, who seems to have misidentified the cysts? He said they were abscesses that I would need to drain at home myself.......... He even broke one of the small ones open during the visit and left it like that. But they aren't full of fluid so all that did was hurt my dog. It hasn't taken long to realize these were not abscesses at all, and poking at the cysts was NOT going to help. Thank you for the video. The new vet did give him short term antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and topical anti-microbial spray - which is a start. Not sure if I should try another new vet or try again with this one.... Hmm.
I believe this is what my dog has. It’s so bad she has puss and bleeding. I take her to the vet and it clears up but then comes back. I feel so bad for her. Top it off she is on apaquel because she it’s all over that causes bleeding. My baby hasn’t had relief in a long time.

Could you give me your professional opinion on why he was prescribed Keflex? I did research on Apoquel and am worried about the side effects. It has been one week of keflex
I took my 9 years old doberman mix to the vet in the end of July. Vet recommended to give him the anesthesia to check out any foreign objects in the paw. He came back told me took out a small foxtail grass but he didn’t show me. He prescribed the antibiotics for a week. Next day I took out bandage from his paw, I was stunned by the no signs of open wounds or sanitized(I expected his bandage would be brown from iodine). The swollen wound looked same as before. But the during the antibiotics the swollen went down but once medication was over it came back. I wonder the vet really treated my dog or just put the bandage on him… I already paid $400, I couldn’t afford more. I regretted I didn’t call to ask what the vet offer next but I was worried about expense and I couldn’t trust him anymore. Right now his cyst still there but he still like to go for a walk every day. What’s my next step? Should I take my dog back same vet or different ones? My dog should take more antibiotics for a long time, steroids or surgery???any advices appreciate 🙏

I finally tried this shot called cytopoint for my cane Corso, she was getting cyst and abscess on her feet and itching like crazy, the shot works, but is a bit pricey, they charge by the pound, my dog weighs about 140, and it's about 250 bucks every two or three months, depending when symptoms start to show, it may seem a bit pricey but for me and her, it's worth it to not suffer, and the side effects have been non existent, and I think they're pretty low anyhow.
I have a pit/boxer mix. She's had multiple vet visits where none did any test to pinpoint before treatment and putting her on pills that didn't help. At this point her feet r covered with these. This all began with the Frito smell into excessive licking of her feet, itchy mouth licking furniture or anything into blood n her toenails into boil looking sores with puss etc. Sore feet when walking. I kept her bathed, her bedding and mine washed, food bowl clean and used antifungal antimicrobial spray and shampoo that helped at first but is now out of control. Ty for this informative video as it gives me possibly a positive diagnosis and point of treatment. Does giving a teaspoon of organic with the mother apple cider vinegar help ? I've read it kills fungal n the body. My dogs feet r n serious condition.
I've heard that organic apple cider vinegar with the mother's, helps, too. It's acidic so I wouldn't use it on the sores bc it will sting, but you can put a little in her food or water( if she'll drink it- my dog won't touch his water if I put it in there.) also you can use half n half , like a cup of acv to a cup of warm water, to rinse your dog after bathing her. If you can let it dry naturally, the better it may work. Warm Green tea also helps give them some relief. It has to be 100% green tea ( nothing else added) steeped in hot water for about 10 minutes & cooled down to where it isn't hot, then use a clean towel as a compress on the sore.
Can these pop on their own like an abscess? My female cane corso has had this happen a few times. I've had dogs all my life and then I move to western Washington and I'm having this paw licking outta control problem and it seems like every other person I talk to up here has the same problem or had had it. In Los Angeles, where I'm originally from, our dogs can't afford to get sick. PS; I wonder if vaccines are playing a role in all these problems. Since they're not held accountable for any side effects does anyone really take the time to put two and two together?

@@Iz0pen I tried the hydrolyzed kibble and feeding organic pumpkin and sweet potatoes for a while but didn't help then I tried this shot called cytopoint and it works great but have to do it every couple of months and they charge by the pound so it can be a little pricey but at least I don't have to see my pup suffer anymore and I'm still hoping she'll grow out of it she's three now but if you're still having the problem you might want to look into the shot if it's affordable to you I pay about 200 to 300 every two to three months for it good luck and God bless
@@LadyLiberty-zd1nv don’t know if you read my reply to the other person in the comments here but we tried changing diet and a couple of other things but what finally worked is a cytopoint shot, it doesn’t solve the problem outright but it stops it for one to three months depending on the season where I live, the shot can be a bit pricey because they charge by the pound, my dog weighs about 140 pounds and it’s about 280 dollars every two or three months, I guess im kinda lucky I don’t have to do it every month as they suggest, I just wait till I see her start licking a bit more than usual. I usually start to see excessive goop coming from her eyes and then I know it’s getting close to time for her shot, which at this point you have to get a script from the vet and either have them do it or you might be able to get the cytopoint online and do it yourself but I think the cost will still be the same because you need to get the right amount for your dogs weight, and it matters. Im about to start a probiotic chewable supplement that I recently saw some adds for that say they might help, still going to cost a bit but not as much as the shot, but all of it is worth it to me because it was horrible to watch her suffer with this issue, God bless and good luck 🙏

Did your vet ever suggest surgically removing the furuncles ? I don’t see that as mentioned as treatment really and I don’t see how antibiotics are going to get rid of the gumball sized one I just found in my girls paw (on the underside) . Pics I see , the dogs seem to have them protruding through the toes at all time- which hers does (kind of) when she sits, but it’s in the space between her paw pad and the underside of her toes - so she’s stepping on it . This case sounds like a complex one. Which is why three or four veterinarians have not been able to figure it out. It most likely is tied to allergies. The medication is an antibiotic which may help temporarily but if the allergy are not managed then the symptoms will return. If you want to be sure as to what it is you may need to biopsy it
My partners pug keeps getting these over and over again. He’s had surgical removal, antibiotics but they won’t stop coming back!! Would allergy wipes be a good preventative? Sometimes he limps and it’s sore and my partner has gone to the vets over and over again and it just keeps returning!!
The sis most likely are coming back as a result of allergies. My recommendation is either see a veterinarian who is comfortable managing them or go to a board certified veterinary dermatologist that would be your best chance at going ahead and getting the cysts under control and keeping them from coming back. My dog seems to have a cyst similar looking to this above his eye. He is 14 years old and takes eye drops twice a day due to losing his sight. Could that be causing the cyst?. It’s small and hasn’t changed in size in the last 6 months.
My girl has these on both front paws..is taking allergy med and I use Miconahex spray but it bothers her still..also we clean her feet before bedtime with
Something like betadine..any thing else we might do?
@@brendareese7534 you can do a epsom salt bath soak for the paws or whole body, just search up on RUclips epsom salt for dogs and you should find a video giving instructions
hi i need some help . my dog has had mange and a fungal infection since he was a puppy, and now hes 3 years old. i have spent over 3000 usd in treatments with 3-4 diffrent vets (everyone with their own treatment plan) . he was recovering but now hes back at square one with mites pretty much all over his body . now he has developed interdigital cysts aswell which started from one paw and now on all four of them . He is a black lab and is under a lot of stress. i had covid so i couldnt even take him anywhere. please i need some help from you guys .
This case sounds like a complex one. Which is why three or four veterinarians have not been able to figure it out. Whoever ends up looking at this case is going to need to look at everything that was done beforehand to see what didn't work and then try and figure out why not. I would be more than happy to see your dog but I don't think I am in your area. Have you tried seeing a board certified veterinary dermatologist?
@@DrLera do you have a WhatsApp number you can assist me with ? I can send you some recent pictures and videos It really hurts me to look at him like this
@@FarooqN1 my black lab has just developed an inter digital cyst 🥺 its still relatively small and not bothering him at all
use celsum blue to bathe him . avoid chicken and can foods. after he is dry apply some coconut oil on him take him for a walk and then rince to take off all the loose garbage that came off him after you put the oil. don't use any sampoo just rinse take him for another walk to dry. there is also a sulfur solution for mange but it stinks so bad
It seems to me that this issue is a bigger one that people think thus the cause of it may be an easier one like maybe since all types of dogs are getting it so maybe yes its allergies but it's an ingredient used to make dog food or something. Call me crazy whatever. Lol
I think you might be right kibble is crap food also dog treats are junk.
I'm really worried for my 1 year old Shih tzu, she's been licking her paw then after I checked there's something in between her paw its like inflamed bump. Then I came across this video, then knew exactly what I was searching. Can this still be treated at home?
You can try Epsom salts soaks multiple times a day but you still may have to be seen by a veterinarian
@@DrLera Thanks for this informational video and for replying, I'll try to update her condition here tho
@@taetaeislifeu895 me too ! My frenchie has been limping and i saw a bump on his paw
@@byanes39 any fix for it ? Just seen one on my Frenchy but I can’t afford the vet 😢
@@MRCALIEMS i used coconut oil in about a week it was gone
Soooo basically no good fix. I have an 7 year old lab that gets them and struggles to walk because of it
My 7 year old lab get them too. Do you have any recommendations to help with this issue?
Thanks for the video, I think that's what's going on with my dog, nice to have some background before getting him into the vet.
Winston sat down like a nice boy at the very end of the video, what a guy.
Best of luck!
OMG same here- my dog has that on both toes. One is worse than other. I’ve been so stressed out about this especially because in 7 yrs he’s never had this. I blame myself because I walked him for 2 miles and he was exhausted. It’s when I saw the bleeding and swelling. I’ve stated washing it with cold water and applying neosporin. Once cyst erupted and became bloody and flat. He’s doing better and I also haven’t been waking him just to see how it heals. Thank you! Mine is also a English Bulldog.
@@natt408 Sounds like a very similar story, he was just over 6 years old when the first one showed up. The vet gave some antibiotics and it cleared up within a few days.
What do you do if it pop Already and it red
You can try soaking it in Epsom salts but you may need antibiotics to keep it from getting infected if it's not already in fact
My dog very furry….noticed a big cyst on my dogs shoulder, when I brushed him…I soaked it with warm solution of Epsom salt with cotton balls, and it went away…. I wonder why this happened….
Why the cyst formed or why it went away
@@DrLera
I know why the cyst went away…..
Why do dogs get these cysts?
I have an unconfirmed suspicion that it’s related to low quality food and treats. Specifically I mean low quality not inexpensive food. They charge a lot for non nutritious low quality food
@@Iz0pen well I don't know why ANYONE would feed their dog ANY food that fits the term "dog food" you care about the dog yet you feed it something you would never eat yourself nor would it encounter in the wild.
I only feed my dog what I eat. All human food. Snacks or junkish foods here and there don't hurt... Obviously don't over do it. The bulk of our diet comes from meats and vegetables.
Oh and btw I'm dead broke and nearly homeless yet I still manage this quite fine.
I could understand the cost being too much if you had multiple dogs... But pls try your best to just share your own food with them. Give yourself a reason to eat healthy!!
Hi my dog had an interdigital cyst and it ruptured the vet gave us antibiotics to give her. It ruptured yesterday her foot was swollen are there any home remedies we can do to treat it and cure it ?
You need to test the allergies. If not it will come right back. Epsom salt soaks can help
I have a 6 yr old make English Bulldog & he has seasonal allergies during pollen season but this ye starting aroung Nov. he got cysts so bad on his front paws we made him an appt w Dermatologist but thats wasnt til Dec & he took a culture & said he get back to me in 10 days well almost 3 wks w my dog suffering & not being able to walk went by why this guy was on his Xmas vacay that he never mentioned but he finally called me back & said he had a bad infection so he put him on antibiotics that made him poop blood all day long💩Now its end of Jan hes been on another antibiotic but theyre worse than ever🥲My poor dog is suffering & Im shelling out money w no results 🤬
Hello, I have a Labrador Retriever and there is alslo two cysts in his right front leg. Doc gave him megamentine 625 but when we gave this tablet to him it was going normal but after few days it again formed . Will u please tell me, is it very serious , I mean is there is any chances to loss him? , please tell me I am very scared.
One of the drugs that I will use a lot of the times that do seem to help patients with inter digital assists is a drug called atopica
Change is diet probably to royal canin hypoallergenic
James did you find any solution? May I ask does the pup get boxed treats or kibble dog food?
@@Iz0pen he gets kibble. He rarely gets treats and if he does he has a carrot here and there or some apple as he’s a pug and prone to weight gain
