First ever comprehensive midsole explanation I have seen. Thanks for this.
Both pair can out great!!! Well done fellas
Great video as always! That midsole explanation was the best I’ve ever heard from anyone. You guys are a big influence to picking up cobbling as a side job. Especially Mr. Tony who has talked with me on the phone personally to help with cobbling questions. Thanks guys for all the help and great videos. Keep up the great work!
Outstanding work as always gents!
Again: Two absolute "Dream-Upgrades" !!! Thank you for sharing.
That midsole explanation was genius. Thanks for the amazing video!
i enjoy a lot your videos... In this case my favorite Iron ranger on my favorite vibram sole, did not disappoint. Now i would love to have another pair of 8087 ´s for re-craft. great video
Awesome video guys. The production quality for this video is top shelf! Excellent lighting and setting. Well done.
LOVE both of these pairs of boots. Hard to pick a favorite!
They both look awesome, you both did a great job
@@BedosLeatherworksLLC thanks!
Those both look fantastic! Great job fellas!
Great video. I like Tonys boots. Great work
Those wedge sole are 🔥I wish redwing made them like this
Really enjoyed watching this with my early morning coffee!
Beautiful work as always!
Fantastico & Fantastico!
Awesome video
Amazing work!
an unexpected but very much appreciated surprise on this fine Saturday morning!
You guys have been doing the leather shanks a lot of late. Love that look with the Dr Soles.
Nice little showdown.
I was watching a cobbler on RUclips resoling a vintage pair of Red Wing Beckman boots. I notice cobblers on RUclips typically remove the old cork, and replace it with new cork. I know it depends on how old the boots are, their condition, or if it's being custom re-crafted. These Beckman boots were pretty old. There was a few cavities in the cork. Then the guy glues new cork right over top of the old cork. I was wondering if this is something cobblers do, or do you think this was an oversight? I do recall in a video where Tony explains how important it is to remove the cork. That way the customer won't feel any bumps and ridges as they walk. I would think the cork would need to be replaced for those Beckman boots. You all do great work, so I was wondering your opinion about it. I've learned a lot from your videos, so I appreciate how detailed you all are 😊! This is a wonderful video thank you guys!
@@phoenixreen unfortunately, there are cobblers that patch over cork instead of replacing it. That’s not a good practice for dried out, or missed cork in the pressure point area’s
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Ah ok! Thanks for letting me know! I appreciate the input!
My favorite pair of iron rangers. I have two pairs. lol
keren
Love the Gloxicut sole. Thinking about that for roofer boot or moc toe. How is it wearing them, Tony? Also thanks for guidance on the midsoles, never heard that before
@@kiwihowser thanks! I am really enjoying them. I typically prefer a hard sole. I only wear tennis shoes when jogging because I don’t like cushion soles. These things are great. They are light weight, grip great, yet firm enough that I don’t notice any squishy feeling, but they are very comfortable at the end of a long day on my feet
360 baby! ❤
Love these videos!! Did you mean to cut off the explanation about antique finishing starting at 11:02?
@@RemFreeman thanks! No, that was a glitch. To finish the statement: when applying color to raw leather like this, it is never perfectly even or exactly the same color, like anything that antiques over time.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Thanks so much for the explanation!! It is greatly appreciated!
They both look pretty darn good. I like the white sole on your boots but they wouldn't stay that color in our Oklahoma red dirt. Thank you for sharing!
@@CC-hl5zj I love the comfort of the Gloxi so far! However, I’m a bit rough on the white also. I think black would have been a better choice for me.lol
6:54 Do you ever stitch the gemming to the foot bed to prevent future separation?
@@EdAb no, that only works if the inner sole is covered with a protective layer, or the stitches gets walked on and worn out quickly. Then they do no good.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Thank you for the reply!
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Could the gemming be stitched to the inner sole on request, if we have boots with a full length insert protective layer to cover those insole stitches? Or would the full length insert wear the gemming stitches away anyway?
@ it can be done.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany You guys are awesome thank you!
"Is cuz", why?... 11:03 Might be worth Pinning the answer. 😄 Cheers
@@EdAb lol No, that was a glitch. To finish the statement: when applying color to raw leather like this, it is never perfectly even or exactly the same color, like anything that antiques over time.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Thanks again!
Do you guys use stitching wax on your curved needles?
@@travissmith7100 no. We switched to a nylon braided thread. Wax is necessary to protect linen thread from dry rotting. Nylon thread doesn’t have that problem
Is poly braided the same? Thanks so much. I just picked up a 12l aristocrat and it makes such a mess with hot wax
@ yes, it will work without wax
Well dang I was really wondering why you use the word antique...
@@evsnova74 unfortunately that was a glitch. To finish the statement: when applying color to raw leather like this, it is never perfectly even or exactly the same color, like anything that antiques over time.
@WyattDadCobblerCompany ah nice. Very interesting that you dye with edge dressing on that one.
@ it works well if you seal it afterwards. The process is explained in this video ruclips.net/video/ii85GM9jmmA/видео.htmlsi=uz7rc4iVd2Og3OIn
FWIW I think the Gloxi sole beats the Cristy sole in every way
@@mach5jeep thanks for letting us know. We have had several say the same thing
Hey guys, love your show, I was wondering however, if I could send in a pair of Harley Davidson boots for you guys to redesign for me? I'm looking for a resole, with a better bottom half of boot, sole, welt etc. I can explain/be more specific later. Just curious, thanks, God bless.
@@trainbobber03 hey! Yes, we have redone several Harley boots. Email us at wyattndad@gmail.com
Thanks
Q re: Gemming • to strengthen the Gemming, can an option be, stitch Gemming to insole?
Yes but it’s not always that simple. Most leather insoles in heritage boots are quite thick and the machine needed to stitch would make a stitch easily felt underfoot. So unless you’re already using a full length insert that would cover the stitching, it is not recommended.
@@CobblerTobias Thank you!
Y didn't u just get a smaller black sole 🤨🙄
@@hectorcortez3888 I didn’t have time before the video shoot. I thought I had the correct size in stock, but had just used that size on a customers boots
Not a fan of the wedge on the iron ranger I mean they not ugly just not for me. Love the young guys iron ranger
