My Dad was good friends with the Jimmie Rodgers family and the Ernest Tubb family and he got the oppurtunity to play Jimmie Rodgers Guitar at Ernest Tubbs home. This Is a great documentary/Tour and I am glad that the guitar is in its rightful place. Keep the Father of Country Musics Legacy Alive. You folks have an excellent museum!
I listen to a lot of different music. As a kid I thought Country music was crap. I had no idea about Willy Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and all these old timers. I wish I could have heard Jimmy Rogers play, what a badass!
@@commodoresixfour7478 Jimmie Davis was another that basically tried to copy Rodgers, and so did Autry. I think I am more acquainted with the Davis records cuz he played with a particular musician I liked.
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
Whenever I see that guitar, I get goose bumps, and picture him sitting on the train station deck playin and singing... Oh de layeee, oh de layeee, whoooooo... 🎶🎶🎶
I visited that wonderful place in 2014 - wanted my Daddy to be there so badly but he had passed on. He and I both loved Jimmie all our lives. The gentleman who was there took a great deal of time explaining everything to me; I was the only visitor that day and he told me a story that stuck with me. Merle Haggard visited there one time and asked just to hold the guitar that's in the safe - the guitar on which country music was born, he said. Sadly they had to turn him down because of the value of the guitar. I was astonished to see them handle it in this film. It's an excellent museum that I plan to return to someday!
My Dad had every record Jimmie Rodgers made. He used to sit in his garage and listen to them. My aunt was married to his brother at one time. (Didn’t work out for reasons I will not mention) His influence on music will never be overshadowed and every time I hear his name or one of his songs I think of my Dad blasting Jimmies music in his garage. One of a kind for sure
The mouthed train sounds of Jimmie Rodgers and his yodeling made me a fan. My first & favorite song was "Hobo Bills Last Ride." Imitating him was laborious but fun. Still can't "yodel," but remember every word. Jimmie Rodgers, made music people wanted to sing. Often imitated but never duplicated.
As much as I love the Beatles & the Rolling Stones Jimmie Rodgers & Hank Williams still are number one with me & ALWAYS will be + add as an bonus good ole Lebty Frizzell, my top three guys !
I visited in 2009. A different lady was the curator then. She was also very pleasant and informative like this woman. For Jimmie Rodgers fans, this museum is an absolute must-see. But music lovers of any era and genres would no doubt find the Jimmie Rodgers Museum very interesting.🎻🎸
The original Martin guitar that Jimmies railroad buddies bought for him is now owned by Marty Stuart and will be on display in his museum in Mississippi when it opens. It was Jimmie’s first new guitar.
I could barely pay attention to what was being said watching her hold the guitar waiting for it to drop or get knocked against the safe! LOL! I look forward to visiting someday. Thanks for sharing!
I can't believe she is holding the guitar with her bare hand's. I always thought the original Jimmy Rodgers guitar was on display at the Martin Guitar factory in Nazerth Pennsylvania. Either way it's a beautiful guitar. As long as it's safe and taken care of. God bless you guys.
Yes! Really!! Although you don't see it done so much with Guitars, I would've thought that she'd not want to handle that famous Guitar without at least, wearing gloves!! And actually, that great ol' Martin, (although the most pictured), is not the first Guitar that Jimmie used when he first became famous! Jimmie first used a "Weymann" Guitar, which that Martin, is similar in size and appearance to! The Martin is of better quality, and and a more attractive instrument, than Jimmie's "Weymann" Guitar! 😊 Jimmie's "Weymann" Guitar was, (and I suppose still is), on display at the "Country Music Hall of Fame" in Nashville. I saw it there in person, in July of 1993! Even though it was in a glass case, it was an awesome feeling to be standing just inches, from such a GREAT piece of Country Music history!!

went to school with his grandson and knew his daughter also. Met his son in law in Corpus Christi while he was a ship's pilot there. Just realizing some of that was truly powerful for me
...think TWO things have been changed, as stated, the pick guard has been added, also I am sure that Ernest said new tuners had been added, he told this at one of the shows at a JRMF event in Meridian when we attended in late 70s.
BULL STUFF - I own Jimmie Rodgers' first Martin guitar. See, he and I were jammin' over at my pad one day and we both got drunk - he left and left his guitar - I kept it - SO THERE! ROFL! GREAT VIDEO - I enjoyed every moment of it, wish it had been 3 hours long, I love Jimmie Rodgers!
I might be wrong but I believe Jimmie Rodger’s guitar is locked up in a vault in a bank in Meridian. I doubt very seriously the original guitar is handled at all. Also, I believe Jimmie received his guitar from CFMartin. Jimmie is the only entertainer to ever receive a free guitar from Martin. All other entertainers must buy.
This is a Great Video... This lady contradicts herself,,, 1st she says Jimmie's guitar is taken out of the safe 2 times a year... then she says it's always on display... ????
It always bothers me to see an instrument laying silent, especially ones that have so much significance. I would've had to ask to strum them............just a little,......please.

Winchester 10gauge lever action so cool!
Awesome heritage indeed.

I actually stopped at the museum on my way back from a trip to Arizona in 2005 it’s a really amazing little place......

What a nice lady! Thank you.
I saw Ernest Tubb with that guitar many years ago, at The Wembley festival. I didn't know it belonged to Jimmie
I visit the Jimmie Rodgers Museum every year. Next year the museum will be in a new location, in downtown Meridian right near the railroad station!
Seems like good place for The Singing Brakeman's museum to be.
I hope the trains blow their horns when they pass.
Been there and well worth the visit, just awesome history of a great man, RIP Mr Jimmie, GOD rest you !

One more thing to add to my “last man alive” shopping list. SRV’s number one being first on the list.
It is now combined with the railroad museum in Meridian.
Jimmie Rodgers songs in the 1970’s influenced me as a budding player. His writing gave me ideas how to put lyrics together even silly ones
Glad to know that!

It's in the safe, but with a glass enclosure as the door...so it is always on display to see.
Sweet mullet.

I think the neck without frets is for playing slide
the tour guide is plum outta breath. slow down. relax.
dufus she needs to lose weight. I'm not trying to be mean. For health reasons - she shouldn't be out of breath
Jimmie Rodgers was born in Washington state.
