Midland Magic: 44871 & 45596 on 'The Mancunian' - 28/09/2024

- Originally intended as a trip from Manchester to Holyhead with LMS Jubilee no.45596 'Bahamas' as part of a memorial run to raise money for Maggie's Cancer Charity in memory of one of Bahamas Locomotive Societies volunteers Steve Peach who had sadly passed away.
However due to various ongoing operational restrictions including the dispute between West Coast Railways and the ORR (Office of Rail & Road) regarding the fitment of Central Door Locking to BR Mk1 Coaches, preventing them from using Mk1s on passenger carrying duties unless fitted with CDL (Central Door Locking)
A revised tour plan now meant that the tour would be hauled by 44871 with the tour now running from Manchester to Kidderminster via Stoke-on-Trent to Wolverhampton via Stone and Stafford, before running via Bescot to Kidderminster, where passengers would then continue their journey Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway behind 45596 'Bahamas' using the a rake of Mk1s.
We kick things off at Stone, where 44871 is captured accelerating her train through the station on route to Stafford for a water stop.
Our next location takes us to Stourbridge Junction where we narrowly missed being bowled out by a West Midlands Trains Class 172 Diesel Multiple Unit.
Our third location takes us to Kidderminster, where we captured 45596 as she heads the 12:25 to Bridgnorth, as part of the special charter run in memory of Steve Peach.
Retracting our steps for our fourth and final shot of the day, we head Old Hill where we capture 44871 as she storms up Old Hill Bank with a little assistance from 47746 'Chris Fudge' on the rear... Like the Stourbridge shot, we once again narrowly missed being bowled out by a WMT Class 172 DMU.. massive thanks to the guard for the swift and on time dispatch of the unit.
