There was an old VHS tape - Old Iron Horses Never Die - that had a double-header of these two locomotives around ~1999. The VHS is lost to time, but there's snippets of it on RUclips. I'm just glad that the title was right. Those old iron horses never die.
This video is sort of appropriately timed. A dear friend of mine pass away recently and his Father was actually #3's very first engineer. Glad to see the old girl running. Would Love to see that Sierra 2-6-6-2 in Oregon put back together.
Great video love these old trains such beautiful sounds and those whistles are awesome musical instruments

Great video.28 and 3 have same tender
These whistles are very SP and I love it
For some reason the whistle on 28 sounds very similar to hill crest lumber climax 9
Superstars of getting there before I did!
Do they still have the whistle used in the 3rd back to the future film ?
Railroad,Preserver,2000 I think that’s the one they have on it
Pretty sure the pitch was just changed
didn't 28 last in 2008 or 9 before returning on Easter 2019????
I wish they’d lease/restore the 38, THEN WED HAVE A SHOW!
What happened to Sierra locomotive number three whistle?
I guess Its broken.
