  • In this video I cover the pros and cons of dual grips for gimbals, specifically the dual handle grips for the DJI Ronin S by Canadian-made company Shape. This is a review by a wedding / event videographer.

    Is there any way to use the 360 roll with these dual handles?

      Yeah you just have to keep your hands in the middle like I do at 2:37

    Great video. Is there any problems with the gimbals motors when being used with the dual grip in the ''upside down mode"? the way the Ronin M looks.. haha

    • @CrazyLightsProductions
      @CrazyLightsProductions  4 года назад +1

      I've had no issues using it upside down. DJI calls this "underslung mode" and it was made to do this on purpose. Doing a calibration (through the app or holding trigger + m) after physically balancing helps a lot. Thanks for watching!

      @@CrazyLightsProductions thanks for the reply. I'm thinking about getting the Ronin s or Ronin m but not sure which one to go for yet. If it's the Ronin s it will prob be new and the Ronin m used because I can't really find any new.

    • @CrazyLightsProductions
      @CrazyLightsProductions  4 года назад +1

      It really depends on what you're shooting and the size of your camera/rig.

      @@CrazyLightsProductions currently using the Canon 80d but soon switching to Sony a7iii or a7iv when it comes out, still not sure but it's going to be a mirrorless camera so it wouldn't be that heavy. I guess the Ronin s would be perfect for the a7iii

    • @CrazyLightsProductions
      @CrazyLightsProductions  4 года назад

      Yeah for something that size the Ronin S is perfect. Not sure what you're shooting but I've talked to people that shoot videos for clubs with the Ronin M and it's a pain in the ass for them to lug around, set down, maneuver through crowds, etc. On a set the Ronin S makes sense - one guy can pull focus while both your hands are on the Ronin M. I think the Ronin S makes more sense for solo shooters.

    does this work with the RONIN SC ?

  • @YaBoySL
    @YaBoySL 3 года назад

    Why are you tossing your equipment in the air?!?! Close the tripod legs while carrying and when you need to adjust your joystick, rest the closed tripod on your waist/upper thigh and you can safely let go of the handle!

    Incredible he gives it 4 lot of five stars after describing how useless it is. I bought one - and it’s junk . If you can’t reach the Ronin controls what’s the point ? No tilt , no pan .
    You can only move forward and hope the camera remains stationary .if not - the shot is busted . Don’t buy the Shape .I give it a big fat Zero. .

    • @CrazyLightsProductions
      @CrazyLightsProductions  3 года назад

      Pros: smoother shots, more ergonomic for your arms, and you can mount accessories. You can set your Ronin's deadpan through the Ronin app so the camera won't move when you walk forward, or you can set it so that it's extra sensitive and your movements are what makes it pan/tilt. Then you can have each of those settings mapped to one of the 3 presets. Looking back on this, the 4/5 rating was dumb and I should have omitted any sort of rating system. Thank you for your comment, I'll address some of these concerns in a follow up video soon. I listed the cons though. You should've watched this video before you bought it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @@CrazyLightsProductions yeah I’m familiar with the Ronin S set up profiles and motor controls. But handles inability to slide is a deal breaker . I bought it last year . If I’d seen your video I might have avoided it. I’ll buy the DJI or preferably the UU rig currently out of stock on Amazon. Small Rig version looks like handles will slip and slide.

      Yeah I ordered the DJI one. Gonna shoot some weddings with it and give it a proper review/comparison. Already looks like a huge step up with the "flashlight mode" support

      @@unemployedgringo I have people crying in the comments when there is background music and when there isn't. Someone on the videography subreddit said they loved it and frankly I like it. @@CrazyLightsProductions Yo, dumbass. I was going to say at the end that I really enjoyed your video anyways. Way to make yourself look unprofessional, maybe stick to making videos instead of flexing how many views you have. Nobody asked, and it's quite apparent that you're incredibly insecure. Have a terrible day, you just lost a subsciber. Loser.
