I read this story yesterday and I think that it's amazing. I actually kind of forgot that Irene Adler was going to outsmart Sherlock and I was surprised by it, even though i knew it was going to happen. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is an incredible writer and I think this short story is really important, because Sherlock starts respecting women more, or at least Irene Adler. It's wonderful to see him look up to someone and being inspired by someone.
I do not understand why movies feel the need to romanticize the relationship between Holmes and The Woman, his obsession with her is from besting him, not out of attraction! Ahh well, excellent video, I am enjoying these immensely 😁
I remember when Iron-Man was cast as Sherlock Holmes, I wondered what in the world was going on. I still watched the movies though. How could I not? It was only later, when I realized Holmes was a character with a drug addiction that the connection made sense to me. After sobering up and successfully playing alocholic Tony Stark, I guess they felt Robert Downey, Jr. could use his life experience again to play the famous detective with a cocaine problem. :)
It's also worth noting, I think, that if people don't have the energy or time to read the stories, there's a great tv show (the one with Jeremy Brett) that adapts the stories accurately. The best story to read is The Hound of the Baskervilles.
I agree it’s one of the best stories. It’s also the first, so probably high on the list of the story most likely to be read. I’ve read all the original Holmes except the last volume. It’s been said those stories are not the best. But I’m baffled at the amount of non Doyle stories out there. I like the character of Holmes well enough, but not enough to read something written by someone who isn’t Doyle.
I've been meaning 2 ask You what is Your favorite adaptation of Sherlock Holmes??? You don't have 2 sell me on reading these. I have more than a handful of times.👍 I said it before, but I dig that hat.👍 Sherlock Holmes master of disguise, stick fighter, and boxer. Sherlock Holmes, and Mythos tales are the only ones I read outside of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle . That's the same I thought when some people said he and Watson are Lovers. I thought....well I've read the originals handfuls of times , and I don't think Sherlock is interested in any Sex ...no matter the preference, or he was Asexual. That's just how it reads 2 me.🤷♂️ Anyway Great Read, Review , and Video 👍😁
I think Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes was the best. Basil Rathbone was pretty good too. Neither was really Holmes though…not the one in my head when I read the stories.
In addition to movies and television shows of Sherlock Holmes, I have seen several plays built around the detective, and these plays have been consistently horrid. It’s as if the playwrights have read none of the Sherlock Holmes stories and have instead based their character on some Hanna-Barbera cartoon parody.
While I always enjoyed this story, as Irene did best the famous Sherlock Holmes, I've gotten to like it less because of how many horrible fan fictions change it into a shallow romance between Sherlock and Irene.
It's on the list!

Yes, that story was particularly good. Thanks for watching!

Sherlock Holmes was an Ace! 😀
I'm so upset! I can't find my Adventures of Sherlock Holmes! Ahhhh!

@@michaelk.vaughan8617 Thanks!!!
Complete Sherlock Holmes should be there Tuesday.

That’s Hollywood for you! I’m so glad you like these ridiculous little videos. Any excuse to wear a deerstalker cap!
Michael, I end up wanting to read everything you read out loud 😆 I’ve only read one Sherlock 😳
You should add Sherlock to the pile of books you are currently reading!
I'm surprised you say most people haven't read the short stories cuz those are the only ones I read lol
Well, you are the exception. Probably because you are exceptional.

I’m sure that’s why he was cast! 😉

You could create an original SH tag!
Yes he should. That's a great 💡idea. 👍

That last volume is certainly not the best, but well worth reading in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
sigh.....the Tony Starkification of Sherlock Holmes....oh the humanity !! 😥 'A lot of people havent read...' - yeh stop reminding me 😥
It’s never too late to start reading Sherlock Holmes.

@@michaelk.vaughan8617 I think Christopher Lee is my favorite. 😁👍

I really like this one. I put all those fake fan fictions out of my mind. Only the real thing for me when it comes to Sherlock Holmes!
I don’t know… this one sounds too scandalous…
SO scandalous!
