I get a silk press once a month and I also get a trim (just like a dusting on my ends) every 3-4 months. I also take my vitamins (especially Vitamin D3 + Collagen), drink at least 7 cups of water, and I move my body at least 30-45 minutes everyday. When I tell y’all, I never knew my hair could retain length like it’s doing right now. When I was natural a just a few months back, I struggled with extreme breakage and weakness and now my hair is in a completely different healthy state.
Love this for you!! That’s such a healthy way to do it aswell, once a month press and keeping on top of dead ends and your hair is flourishing! It can honestly be difficult to maintain natural hair in its textured state and it’s not for everyone and that’s actually OK 🤍🤍
@@naturalnadinee thank you so much for the understanding and support! I felt somehow guilty that I was doing this but shoot, I got over that feeling fast when my hair starting recovering and I quickly realized that being a curly girl just wasn’t for me. You creating this video just gave me confirmation 💜

I'm planning on becoming a straight natural once I get the information and tools I need. I stopped getting relaxers 9 years ago simply to have fuller straight hair, and that was the peak of the natural hair movement so I wanted to also embrace my curls. I'm over it now because of how much time it takes and I have two COMPLETELY different textures in my hair that makes it difficult to wash n go(I went heat free for 4 years and the texture remained different). I love how long slim hair looks on me, and I don't like not knowing if my hair will cooperate DAILY
What helped me was the tymo ring straightener. It is healthier than using a flat iron and its much faster. I can straighten my hair in 25 minutes. It has heat controls on it too.
I HAVE to use silicones as my protectant. My hair got damaged experimenting with oils to straighten. I use Sabino Moisture Block. Been using it for over a decade.
I would wear my hair natural and in silk presses but mainly in a straightened state whenever I would wear it out of a protective style. I've recently decided to become a straight hair / heat trained natural. 🌸
I'm still a curly natural and I came to this video with doubts but you just dropped a series of facts! Great video, super informative. I'm going to consider more silk presses now
Very informative video! I’ve been natural since I was in college (about 12 years) and my hair will not grow past my waist. I either cut it due to split ends or it breaks. I love my curls but I find my hair is so much easier to manage/upkeep when it’s straight. So I’ve been heavily considering becoming a straight natural- at least until I reach my goal of hip length.
I hear it, I think you could experiment with maybe just stretching your hair more often e.g blowouts and not have it bone straight, that will help maintain your curls for when you do reach your goal length xxx
Most of the time it’s challenging for me to finish RUclips videos but you kept me so engaged with everything you mentioned! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and advice I’m eating this video up.

@@IAMCHIDERAthere are hydrating oils. Oils are usually sealants but if you look into it more, they can add moisture. I'm guessing the oils that do have a small amount of water in them
I'm still confused by the difference between just straightening your hair and a silk press? Anyways, I'm really considering incorporating straightening my hair or maybe just blow drying cause my coils are reallyyyy tight and keeping my hair stretch is my best chance of survival (aka fighting my arch nemesis SSKs which lead me to breakage & split ends) 😅

Very informative video!! Thank you for sharing. I have a question though. With the sebum… I really want maximum sebum coverage but I also want to apply my homemade rosemary oil to my scalp a least once a week. Do you think that’s gonna reduce my sebum production and affect sebum coverage?
Hey girl thank you! & no it won’t your hair will produce the sebum it naturally wants to produce. If you have clogged pores which means the sebum gets mixed with bacteria you’ll know because your scalp will start flaking dandruff-like. So as long as you don’t notice any extra/excess flaking then you know the sebum is flowing how it should be xxx
Nope heat trained means you can still wear wash n go’s if you desire. You can do both. Glamtwinz are a perfect example of this they wear their hair curly in summer and in winter it’s straight

@@naturalnadinee that’s what I’m saying!! So irritating haha but yes ma’am. Gotta stay on this routine and let my hair be the proof. 🥰🫶🏾
Do you keep your hair straight for 1 month?
Im a straight hair natural too its definitely much easier to retain length especially if you have multiple textures and curl patterns!
That's good to know 😊
As a straight natural myself I'm here for this video.🙌🏾 You are so right about the sebum coverage.
Omg I didn’t know you were a straight haired natural! I’d love to hear how you maintain your hair aswell how often do you silk press?xx

Ohh I definitely have loads of those🤣 cause this U.K. weather is mad & thank you so much friend 🥺🤍🫶🏾
Great video, thanks! How long does it take to heat train natural hair?
It depends on the hair, but not very long! A few consistent silk presses and your hair will soon be trained xx
So what moisturizes your hair when your hair is straight then?
I always use a little bit of grapeseed oil for the ends your hair will become greasy on its own so you don't need much
@@lilchocolatetinkc6743 thanks for the suggestion but that’s not moisture tho

“Not confined to one specific style” but if ur heat trained you can ONLY wear your hair straight right?
Nope heat trained means you can still wear wash n go’s if you desire. You can do both. Glamtwinz are a perfect example of this they wear their hair curly in summer and in winter it’s straight
You can also still do braid outs, flexi rods, perm rods, the list goes on....bantu knot outs
Do you silky press yourself or go to professional
Glam twinz have been doing both for years. They have extremely long hair. They do curls in the summer and straight hair in the winter and fall.
