    In canon, there actually WERE some examples of them doing some of the stuff you mentioned.
    Star Wars Rebels Siege of Lothal: They blew up Minister Maketh Tua and framed the Ghost crew.
    Star Wars Annual 1: They killed the Senators they were going to execute along with rebel spies on Coruscant when they blew up that prison and pinned it on the rebels.
    Pretty much every time the Partisans acted up: Used Gerrera's less noble acts as a way of pinning the rebels as terrorists. Even other rebels thought those acts were going too far.
    Separatist Holdouts: Used their attacks as an excuse to increase military spending.

    Given that we know Alderaan was the main source of munition for the Rebel Alliance I could see that being used as one of the reasons the Empire with justify destroying Alderaan.

    • @JediMasterZim
      @JediMasterZim 4 года назад +3

      Yeah, but we know this ended up backfiring on the Galactic Empire. If Palpatine and his regime were smart, but not so smart as to avoid destroying Alderaan, then alternatively they would have immediately tried to find some way to frame the rebels. Sure, it might be seen as a bit of improbable deniability, but given their control of the narrative it would have been better than what they did in canon. Heck, if they could somehow successfully frame the rebels, or maybe Separatist remnants, it would leave most of the galaxy utterly terrified of and hating the rebels, and turning to Palpatine and his regime for protection now more than ever.

    • @DragonKing19th
      @DragonKing19th 4 года назад

      By "not being perfect" you mean ruling the galaxy with an iron fist, subjecting billions of people to endless suffering, committing mass genocide, exploring worlds for their own gain, driving species to the brink of extinction, taken wathever they wanted without consequenses, using it's alien citizens as catle and human citizens as meat shields, destroyng citys as well as inportant infrastructure and terorising any planet that didn't join them?
      The Old Republic had some problems but I would chose them over an EVIL and opresive regime any time. (Not to mention that technology stopped moving forwards and economy collapsed under the empire.)

    • @duescaymania2940
      @duescaymania2940 4 года назад +2

      Gabriel Rodrigues ah you show your shortsightedness with your argument but ill get to that in time. Subjecting billions to endless suffering is an extremely harsh way to put it especially when most suffering is self inflicted. There are a great many worlds in the empire that have never had to hear the shriek of a tie fighter. Besides empires expand its what they’re meant to do. So their expansion comes with a choice. Join peacefully, or fight and suffer. And most if not all planets where “suffering” and “genocide” have happened, it was due to people fighting the empire and in turn causing their people to suffer. A great example of this is Lothal. After numerous missions from the rebels it started to get rapidly militarized as a result and yet people only see the effect rather than the cause. Of course you could also be referring to alderaan for the genocide in which yes it was a tragedy but a necessary one. You see the planet was the largest supplier of the rebel alliance, had large scale planetary defenses, and since the end of the clone wars to prepare for invasion. An equation that adds up to more people dying in an invasion than simply its destruction. And now where you clearly don’t understand the empire. Yes it did invade planets but it also did everything in its power to not destroy the infrastructure or kill the planets residents. If not anything else for profit. The rebels on the other hand are willing to do anything to get rid of the empire which usually results in large scale destruction and death. The empire also in fact kept technology moving forward, and helped the galactic economy boom. It was the rebels that collapsed both of these. Unfortunately I don’t have time currently to go over all the shortcomings of the alliance but I will say the empire is a force focused on the long term while the rebels are only nearsighted enough for a few years at most

    • @DragonKing19th
      @DragonKing19th 4 года назад

      @@duescaymania2940 Oh im sorry does putting billions to 20 years of suffering sound nicer to you, yes killing millions of innocent women and children on Alderaan in order to destroy the rebels is completely okay unfortunely I forgot Palpatines hero medal in my other pocket. By the way how did the empire keept technology moving forward? they were one big monopoly on everything in the real world if you control the intire market the economy canot grow and because of that corporations are not motivated to develop bettre technology because nor then nor the citizens of the galaxy can't do anything to bettre temselfs. The planetary invasions of the empire left the galaxy devasteded. They filled the waters of Mon Cala with blood and burned the forsts of kashyyyk as well as enlslaving or exterminating anything that wasen't human. In planetary invasions they tried to avoid destroyng infrastructure but did so must of the time. Peoples lives became even harder when they took over especialy aliens the empire did not care for peoples education or well being all they cared about was for them to be funtional to serve under the empires boot. People couln't do anything to bettre their lives because they needed to focus on surviving. In the Republic the people could demand change from their leaders because they did't need to wory abaut surviving the next day but with the empire were everyone is so poor and so underepresented they cpuld't do anything. The galaxy is bettre of without them.

    • @duescaymania2940
      @duescaymania2940 4 года назад +1

      Gabriel Rodrigues ok so first off I had a stroke reading several parts of that. Second ah yes sarcasm to make a point how original you microcephalic addlepate. Once again I’ll state the empire is a long term solution. 20 years is hardly anything and yet they did more than the republic ever did. You claim the republic was so great a government and yet they rarely helped their people. Corruption was rampant. Hell they couldn’t even protect themselves. Yes the empire could have done things different but they were a great change for the galaxy. And yet most people are as shortsighted as you. Yes there were civilians on alderaan and it was tragic but there were also civilians on the Death Star that no one cares about. The rebels have killed more people overall than the empire ever did and yet they’re hailed as heroes. Anyway yes technology still advanced. The empire worked with several companies and only integrated industries that were vital to the imperial military so there were still plenty of areas left for improvement. Planetary invasions more often than not left people and buildings alike intact unless of course people fought back as you so generously left out. As well the planets you mentioned very much did fight back against the empire and as such action was taken against them but you forgot that part too. The majority of people enslaved by the empire were those who fought the empire or lived a criminal lifestyle. The empire actually lowered the amount of slaves in the galaxy than either of the republics did. And aliens sure they weren’t cared for but unless they did something wrong they were basically left alone. You act as if people under the empire tried to survive day after day. That’s simply not true the people trying to survive were criminals or people who suffered during the republic as well. That’s because the empire inherited the problems of the republic. And while education may not have been a top priority that doesn’t mean the empire ignored it. Schools remained open and the empire built academies as well. So next time you have an argument try to piece it together with at least to brain cells before attempting to act like you’re right. I’ve done this dance many a time and usually with people who actually have an argument, and usually people who can have a nice debate about it too. With all that said I bid thee farewell

    I like this theory, but it just isn't supported by the text:
    I heard from Generation Tech that Inferno Squad occasionally performed false flag attacks, so maybe it was mentioned in a few books, but from what we see in most star wars media during that period, there's absolutely no mention of regular people not liking the rebellion or the rebellion worrying about the Empire distorting their image. From Rebels, we see that joining the alliance is relatively easy, and simply a matter of not liking the Empire, In ROTJ, we see that even core worlds celebrated the Empire's destruction. And just from a psychological point of view: the Empire was too stupid to do this. Palpatine was cloak and dagger before he rose to power, but now he can't be bothered to be smart, as evidenced by the death star projects. He's eliminated the Jedi and commands a powerful army. What else does he need to do to maintain power? Same with the Imperial commanders. Most we see were stupid, or at least didn't understand fighting an insurgency, and respond to everything with brute force.

    If this is true, how did the Rebellion eventually, defeat the Empire? I am not discrediting this theory as it sounds very reasonable and likely, but how is it that they eventually turned the tide against the Empire? Although the destruction of the Death Star did break the image that the Empire is invincible, it also could(and likely was) be used to portray the Rebels as a legitimate threat to the Empire and the Order it brought to the Galaxy. My best guess is that the Holo-Net was decentralized(albeit ultimately controlled by Coruscant), therefore as the Rebellion began to win victories, it could turn the Holo-Net against the Empire. The other way is that the Rebellion found alternative ways to get their message to the Empire, and/or people began to trust the Empire less, though neither sound terribly likely given everything that the Lore Guy already stated.

    The control of the narrative would have worked great.....right up until the destruction of a planet. That is a little harder to claim the Rebellion did. The didn't have the resources, and if one thinks about it, anything after A New Hope showed gaining support for the Rebellion. Different ships (snowspeeder) more powerful weapons (those satellite turrets looking turrets, cannon towers and ion cannon on Hoth) and then a fleet. So if anything, it shows that the Empire could make all the propaganda they wanted but it would not have mattered. The moment Palpatine gave complete control to Tarkin, the Empire lost.
    Palpatine was in a bind, he was the most powerful man in the galaxy, saying Tarkin acted on his own accord would have done no good, that means he didn't have any real control over those under him. Couldn't say that he gave Tarkin control as that would show him incompetent and not really understanding those under his authority. Can't say he ordered the Death Star being used, nor why he felt the need to build such a massive weapon that would cost a grand amount of money from a galaxy recovering from a horror war. Which brings me to the Yuuzhan Vong. I'm actually glad they are no longer cannon. It's an 'easy out' for the story line as all those 'attacks' could have been contributed to them and not the Rebellion. It would have justified so many things and instead united the galaxy like Palpatine wanted, or used them as an excuse to kill off the Jedi. Say they were 'infected' by some spores or something and it effected force wielders. You could even plant evidence that the Yuuzhan Vong started the Clone Wars through the the Geonosian race, which would be a good excuse to wipe them out. Their queens were infected by the spores, those worms that brought back the dead were actually Yuuzhan Vong, and that's how the Jedi got infected, but you'd have to explain away the Clone Army. Which goes to Master Sifo Dyas. Go back years, a 'disturbance in the force' and him and say.....Jedi Master Dooku went to investigate, and uncovered the Yuuzhan Vong. Before they could warn anyone however, Dooku became infected and Master Sifo Dyas had to escape, he was separated from the Jedi council and through 'still being investigated' means, came across the Kamino's and discussed the creation of soldiers immune to these spores. Unfortunately, Dooku made it back to the Jedi temple and infected other Force users, when Sifo Dyas finally came back was killed by his fellow 'infected' Jedi and began plans to infect the galaxy via the chaos of war and split the Republic in two in preparation for the Yuuzhan Vong.
    But no, he didn't and got a planet blown up causing people to turn against him.

      @Gaius Wyrden Uh.....that actually makes sense but I always thought Tarkin did that as a way to be always in the Emperors favor, by cutting off people that may get his ear instead. I read some of the extended lore before and after Disney and Tarkin and Palpatine go far back, before the Clone wars.....but why would be his motive for the Empire falling really? I mean he was benefiting a lot from it.

    • @madisonatteberry9720
      @madisonatteberry9720 4 года назад +1

      @Gaius Wyrden Actually, after I made my last comment, I had a thought, and I think it's still cannon.
      Tarkin did have a son and was killed by Vader but told it was by a native group on a planet being invaded.....what if he found out the truth? If it's still cannon that is, he did realize at some point that Palpatine was force sensitive, but didn't care, he 'had' too have known Vader was Anakin Skywalker, "You my friend are all that's left of that religion." Is it possible that he could have also known how to conceal himself, emotionally, from their force sensitivity? I think Thrawn could have also done that with a good mental state and not those 'plot device' reptiles. So why not Tarkin?

      @Gaius Wyrden It would be, again, if that story line is still 'cannon'. Right now Disney is bringing so many things that 'they' threw out back either 'out right' or 'in secret' or 'renamed' that it's hard to tell what is or isn't anymore.

They require a sizable (not even a majority) part of the population to directly benefit from the exploitation and subjugation of an underclass. The Empire was a Human Supremacist polity, and bet a portion of the galactic human population were fairly privileged compared to other species as a whole. You know that BLM and antifa are far left organizations right. If they really are undercover Trump voters then why are we seeing militias and rioters duke it out like in a war?

      Teddy N I..... I was comparing the right wing to the empire.... I never said that antifa and BLM aren’t left wing.
      Though for the record they’re not organisations, they’re movements.

      Tracytron They are not the ones shutting people down based on their opinions. Like for example how the dems try and shut down all sorts of public events but BLM is allowed to protest with few limitations on how many people can be there and can even spray paint stuff out in the streets.

      @@teddyn240 Imao sure buddy. ICE is literally performing forced hysterotomies in their detention centers, Black communities are being over policed and incarcerated on mass to fuel the prison industrial complex, millions of people are financially unsecure now because the oligarchs refuse to bail out the people but love to bail out wall street, over 10,000 have been arrested, and for profit healthcare is killing thousands every year.
      The state apparatus is killing us and you are swallowing cooperate propaganda xD
