  • So your refrigerator is all wonky when it comes to temp regulation?
well mine was and I was tired of seeing the mech thermostat doing a poor job. So China had a dirt cheap fix for my problem. The W1209 digital temperature regulator. At first I was very skeptical about this seeing as it was 5$... but reading up on the reviews made me reconsider..
in the end it turned out to be a great idea, and ever since this the box temperature has been very stable, and in boats... this means power savings that make for longer trips..

The relay on the W1209 is not rated for the current the BD35F takes. You'd be better off disconnecting the old thermostat and replacing it by connecting K0 and K1 to C and T. Also, by bypassiing the original controller you might be bypassing a slow start circuit or a fan delay circuit that is often included to reduce peak loads. And I'm not sure that power cycling the original controller might not shorten its life. What do you think?

I think the main positiv and negative shall go direct to BD35 and the relay shall switch C and T. And if you ad a resistor in that circuit you can tune the rpm.

Many ways to Rome, and yes the resistor table can easily be found in the secop danfoss manual

    Thanks for the information.
Please how can I connect the resistor to increase the speed. May be it will help my compressor, it is moving very low.
What is the setting you use for the new thermostat.

Hi, Can you add a view of the wiring? I have a similar project that has the tails already attached. Red, Black, Yellow, Black. But its hard to tell from the video where you have the 'harness' connected to and where the commons are?

I'm sorry I didn't make a schematic, but it's actually not that hard. See the digital board as something that turns on power to the motor based on a digital sensor instead of the mechanical one. It's connection is before the motor. That's all

Just curious why you didnt disconnect the two mechanical thermastat wires and reconnect them to the digital controller K0 and K1 (C & T) ? You did it for a reason, so curious why?

I did it this way to get rid of the mechanical thermostat all together. Is there something I don't see about still using it?

@@dsholden1not at all, but wiring C&T to the digital thermastat, you remove C&T from the Mechanical thermastat, This way it is a simple swap out of thermastats. The control unit remains powered on and the thermastat controls the compressor. In your diagram the thermastat now turns on and off the control unit. So curious what the advantage was of doing that?

Hi, is the system still working? I m going to buy the same thermostat. What degrees do you use it? Is it still icing in the evaporator?

Hello, yes it's still going strong and doing a great job. Have it at 5.5 deg and 3 deg hysteresis. Reduction in ice but not entirely

Claiming "it's pretty simple" to install this digital relay is completely overstated especially when the actual important info, being the wiring, is vague, at best. I'm curious as to his background in electronics and how it'ssimple for him. For a novice with the same cooling problem on the same Secop compressor, you are the danger here, with your iffy tutorial. This wire here and this wire there??? Then the harness??? And when you're finished wiring??? You ought to go have a pint and gloat on yourself.
