@@agathahofmann6977 Not all of them. When you are doing CPR the first thing you want to hear is coughing or crying, that means they are breathing and the next step is getting them medical help before a relapse can happen.
It actually isn't as common as you may think for this kind of relapse to occur in small children. Sometimes the problem is heat or exhaustion and not something fatal. It just depends. Once in a hospital it is even less likely for a relapse, especially because they have fast ways of dealing with the issue and good medical equipment on hand.

Happened to my son too…My son was born with the cord around his neck twice…he looked d e a d already, completely blue and eyes bulged out. My mom fell to her knees praying and my husband had a death grip on my hand. I was as calm as could be, very peaceful, and idk why but I knew he’d be alright. They assured me that the loud sound of them beating on his back was for his own good. It took them 4 1/2 minutes to get him to breath. He stopped breathing later in my recovery room and I watched what they did. So when we got home and he stopped breathing twice, I already knew what to do. He’s 11 now and no issues!
Honestly, I struggled to get his shoulders thru. They had 4 nicu nurses ready to save him…one of them shouted at me in a loud fearful tone to push (like a deep warrior tone)! I could see it on her face that something was wrong, it scared me enough lol…I understood the assignment and pushed him out right then. I always wanted to thank her but idk who she was. Before I was allowed to take babysitting jobs my parents insisted I take a specialized course for teens who wanted to be babysitters. Most of the course focused on first aid. I remember learning CPR for babies and toddlers.
I mean, we didn’t get CPR certificates but we were taught enough to help until the ambulance could get there.
Most parents in my area wouldn’t hire babysitters unless they had this course.
I only had to use the skills once when at the park with a child I was sitting. A playmate started to choke and couldn’t breathe and the mom was frantic. So I went and helped. Kinda odd that a 15 year old took over from the mom, but I managed to dislodge it and get the kid breathing just before the ambulance arrived.
That mom called me a week later and I became their regular sitter, lol.

I was driving with my son in his car seat. He started choking on a sweet. I immediately pulled over and it happened to be a bus stop. A bus had to brake hard because I stopped so quickly. The driver was blasting his horn. I ran around, got my son out face down like this baby (my son was about 5years old) on one arm and slapped him between his shoulders and the sweet popped out. I've never been so glad to hear anyone gasp for a big breath. The bus driver saw what had happened and asked if I was OK or needed an ambulance for the boy. He was fantastic when he realised.

There are good officers on every force. It only takes 1 or more to tarnish the reputation of a department. Qualified immunity needs to be abolished. And officers should be encouraged to police themselves and others in the department to step up when they recognise wrongdoing among their peers without fear of flash back from the higher ups. This keeps everyone honest and held to the highest standards of service.

We followed the directions on the packaging. Our girl swallowed it correctly, but our boy aspirated it, went stiff as a board, and turned blue. I called 911 as my husband jumped straight into infant CPR. Luckily we were both trained because of our jobs, and our baby was saved. He had just started breathing and crying again when the parametics arrived. Scariest moment in my life and contributed a ton to me later having postpartum depression and doubting my ability as a parent. I hope this mother realizes she did everything right, getting the parametics there right away. When I realized I needed to act bc help wouldn't come in time I managed to get myself together and dislodge the banana but it only took seconds for her to change colors and start foaming from the mouth. Even if you have the tools, when the emergency is yours you still may need help. I worked in healthcare for over a decade and to this day I get weak when either of my daughters bleed.

    • @TallDiana

It’s so scary when it happens. It’s possible to suction a baby with one’s own mouth if necessary. Some would say “gross”, but we do what we need to do in emergencies, right? Of course!
My baby stopped breathing hours after her birth when she vomited amniotic fluid. She started breathing after a few minutes and was doing better by the time paramedics arrived. Her pediatrician said newborns have extra red blood cells to get them through the first hours after birth and she was (involuntarily) protecting her airway. She was fine, but it’s really scary! Older babies don’t have the extra red cells so they don’t have much time to start breathing again.
I saved my husband’s life at Disneyland in front of hundreds of people. He choked on an expensive but very dry burger there and I had the same feeling hit me to my core- No one else could arrive in time to do the Heimlich, it was up to ME! And I saw no onlookers or even my daughters as I did it five times to dislodge the food.
All parents should know CPR and basic first aid. Sometimes, help is too far away and we need to save our own babies.

I hate that no one ever talks about the good things they do like coach football, take kids to summer retreats, lead 12 step programs, lead boy scout clubs, etc. Everything you mentioned is exactly how we got to the mentality that all officers are bad. I have seen hundreds of people on posts say they hope they get shot, suffer and die. People they don't even know.
