    Nice new version of the Chevelle. I restored the original 2 door and station wagon years ago. Thanks for sharing. Grilles and hoods were different on the 64 and 65's.

      Yes the 64s were very flat and the 65s have a peak

    Nice comparison. Thanks for taking the time. I would imagine that the new tool 64 body could be kit bashed with a 66 amt/ lingberg kit or the Revell 65 kit for a full detail chassis. Thanks Adam

      Thanks Rick! I do think either of those could be good options. The Revell kit likely being the better of the two since it uses the interior tub/floor style.

    Good video. Glad you did the comparison between the vintage and new tool. I restored the original two door and station wagon. All good kits and nice builds. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks! This is great, answers most of the questions I had. Another youtuber covered the engine fit problem: if you carefully cut out the plastic between the bumper and sway bar , (he left about 1/4 inch at the front) there is enough room for the fan and balancer to clear. Thanks for showing the custom parts, I am thinking the custom grille and hood from the 65 elcamino, the 64 wagon has an interesting custom front end and 6 clyinder... the 1/4 panels , frame and interior in the time machine kit , and we can have a correct 65 hardtop... this is going to be fun.... I just ordered 4 of the new kits!

    Great comparison. I kinda like the old 1 piece glass. Less chance of me getting glue all over it. Elcamino is pretty cool for the parts.

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  4 месяца назад

      I agree if the one piece fits well I'm OK with it. The new ones with the location points should allow assembly and then gluing so that should limit the chances of errors

    Awesome that you had the original, thanks for showing them in detail. Something I’ve been curious of is why companies do not include the model year on bumpers anymore. Seems like it could be a simple addition but then again I’m no dye maker.

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for checking it out. I think the majority prefer non-dated bumpers. I like them on original annuals but probably prefer without otherwise. Many do come with dated license plate decals.

    Good of you to go into so much detail in this video, thank you.
    So rather like the Ford pickups it’s almost the same in construction, but just different enough in size not to be like for like.

    Do you think it's possible to modify the 65 wagon and El Camino to fit the new 64 Malibu parts

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  4 месяца назад +1

      I guess it depends on what you want to do. There's no clear correct answer from what I've seen. In any direction there's going to need cutting/trimming. I do think it's possible to use their chassis, but likely the easiest is just going to be to cut/trim the new chassis to work. Or go to a higher detail chassis kit, like the Revell 65 Chevelle maybe.

    Rear deck height and the rear upper quarter panel window opening do look improved on the new kit. Just wish while AMT was at it, they had put a full engine assembly in the new tooling.
    They charge just as much for these Craftsman-Plus kits as they do for kits with motors included, which seems unfair to model buyers.

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  4 месяца назад

      I wish they would offer both the full and the Craftsman+ as they did for the Nova Wagon for all of them. Yeah I don't know how they come with the pricing.

    1964 Chevelle Malibu had single bulb elements in the front.
    Yet all see in a google search are the 1966 double light elements ? WTF ?

  • @williwass6837
    @williwass6837 4 месяца назад

    Thx for this comparison!But all i can see on all these pictures is a "RETOOL" not a "NEW TOOL"!Yes they modified a couple of things but calling it a new tool is one of many Round2 lies they spilled since they own it!They only call it new tool to rectify the much too high price!And some of the changes they made(especially to the Dashboard) are bad!

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  4 месяца назад

      They call it New tool because none of it is reused from anything prior. All fresh tooling, Zero carryover.

      @@sodakmodelcars Thats what they tell!I dont believe it!Too many similarities between the old kit and the "new tool"Theyve done it before and will do it again!You may believe it,me not!But everyone for himself!Dont take it asagainst you!love your Vids and channel!👌

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  4 месяца назад +1

      Well, I guess you can believe whatever you want but having the parts in hand and showing them there were zero parts that were identical and clearly not from the same tooling.

      @@sodakmodelcars Maybe you should understand the meaning of "retooling"

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  Месяц назад

      @williwass6837 A retool is a cleanup or modification of previous tooling. New tooling means it started from blank slate.
      If you would've just watched the video you could've seen the differences between your claims of "similarities" and all the actual differences.
