    Add an ex Mormon who was married in the temple I can confirm that the Mormon Church believes that men will continue practicing polygamy in heaven

    I am a single no longer a member of the church and I can tell you this is it's very true . Every time I've gone on a Mormon dating site the majority of the men are married. Every time I go to a church dance the men are looking for a hookup in the parking lot. Wife swapping, swingers swapping it's nothing new

    I think the same is true in Evangelical and Catholic culture, it’s the “purity culture”. Though we don’t believe in eternal marriages. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have heard that there is a higher likelihood of genetic disorders in babies born in areas with higher LDS populations, due to the lack of genetic diversity. Edited to add, Hasidic culture and Amish communities also have similar issues. 😢

    I keep seeing people talk about this wild show. Purity culture seems to lead to an obsession with sex revolving around guilt and shame…

    I appreciate you covering this. I watched 2 episodes. My take away is that these women are using social media and the show to make lots of money to pay for plastic surgery and hair extensions. Apparently just mentioning swinging has gotten them more followers, a reality show, and $$$. Just my take.

    If a woman wants to marry her second husband , after she has been divorced , in the temple, she has to get a consultation of ceiling first. If the man wants to marry a woman after his divorce in the temple he does not have to do anything so a man can be sealed to multiple women in the temple where the woman can only be sealed to one man

    • @Third_Verse
      @Third_Verse  2 месяца назад

      @tienmou68 I think she meant to say 'cancellation of sealing' . Please be respectful if you would like to keep your commenting privileges.

      A little unclear as to what soft swapping is. From watching lots of Mormon stories episodes, I learned about the strict rules regarding how women must dress. As I understand it the Cox family had standing in the church. How was that even possible with the way the women in the family all dressed. Bikinis, sleeveless tops, lots of leg showing. How were they given a pass by their church/community for all that? BTW love your podcasts!

    Brigham and Heber started polygamy. Joseph did not nor had anything to do with it. One of the reasons his friends put him away. That and the issue that Joseph was ordaining black men to the priesthood and was anti-slavery while the others were proslavery. Other than that I agree with your comments. Thanks.

    I think it's just marrying young and the covenants. It is just a step to divorce. 😂 But more than anything, it is just the sexual obsession. You are pure until marriage and then have no clue or experience once married. Sex is just the root of what screws us all up!!😂

    Your whole reason for leaving the church is based on a lie that someone told you that you believed. The Lord loves you. Please seek out the the whole truth. Research the church historian Don Bradley who also had a faith crisis and then came back. Please stop perpetuating the lie that destroyed your faith.

    • @Third_Verse

      It’s not a lie, it’s literally on the church website in the gospel topic essays. Click all the way through the footnotes. Read the first hand accounts of the women. Then ask yourself if your daughter or granddaughter was treated the way Joseph treated those women, what would your reaction have been?

      I’m a little confused because Mormonism isn’t really a Christian faith as fat as I was taught a huge reason was their book said the savior sat at the LEFT hand of God the Father which scholars figure that Lucifer had as the worship leader until the fall where he became known as the devil eventually. Also I would not put a ton of stock in the Jehovah’s Witnesses text as when a nice lady came by one day we started comparing and much of text was either omitted or revised to remove many of the wonderful meanings in scriptures. Basically in the few verses we looked at in the New Testament the wonder and miracles had been neutered from the text making it “believable “ but not accurate. It’s almost like once people thought miracles were a sure thing but got disappointed and so they removed them so nobody would be disappointed anymore. Stripping the hope out of the Word of God. Terribly unfortunate because even though we don’t always get the miracle we want or would like to be robbed of hope is a travesty.

      @tienmou68 this is your second warning. Calling someone a liar and saying their info came from an ignoramous is inflammatory and not conducive to peaceful discourse. Challenge the argument, not the person.
