Dave is definitely young at heart and is staying young. He has a very warm and welcoming smile and face. What an incredible and hard to believe it's possible layout. Wonderful ! I am blown away by it.
Stunning. I LOVE tiny detail in dioramas, and this reminds of diorama on a much grander scale. I'm in awe and would love to see this in person and pore over it at leisure. I'm thinking of Z or T if the selection expands as I love in a small two room apartment. Thanks for sharing and for all the work! The effect of Z scale as explained herein is what really draws me to it. It's not cartoonish like the larger scale where you see the train and then happen to notice some scenery around it, but you see the world and the train comes in and out of view. It mimics real life so much more closely. I'm intrigued enough to research every aspect and start pricing things. Thanks again~ (ps anyone wan't to buy a bunch of OLD HO stuff now???) lol
The big plus of the smaller Z scale is that you can fit so much more in less space, the downside is that the trains become more 'finicky' .. you can see them shake in this video and dirty rails also become a bigger problem. Beautiful layout.
My dad loved his trains. We kids would help him build and rebuild 3 or 4 full 4x8 plywood-sheet HO layouts and the whole neighborhood would come out to see it every Christmas.

The description of environmental lighting by John Buckley makes think what he’s doing is like the reverse of planetarium accent lighting. People in that field might have good suggestions.
@@Tracksidemodelrailroading Thanks very much for replying to my comment. It's nice to see other people's work to get idea to improve my Channel. Take care & stay safe.
This is amazing. I want to get into z model trains because of the amount of scenery that can be created. I've subscribed to this channel and will be watching more videos. Are there any z gauge model train forums or literature that you all would recommend? Thank you for posting!
Great video. The layout is outstanding. The issue with Z scale (Or benefit?) would seem to be that there is so much more to populate. It's hard to take in just how much is going on within' the first frame alone.
Hi, Alan! Yes, Mr. Dave's model is available for viewing every Saturday 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Tomball Railroad Depot 201 South Elm, Tomball, TX 77375.
Hi all, i am new to the train hobby (i really am) pardon my ignorance, but the z-scale here looks n-gauge-ish... am i missing something? i only own japanese N-gauge so far
Such a sad example of poor film ing/edditing Filming 2 guys talking ? Is it to be realy shure that we know who is talking about the railroad? We maybe get distracted if you start showing the track meawhile they talk?
Ahh yes, English pronunciation; the language where Carver, Massachusetts is 'Kahvah' & Houston Texas is like 'Gooseton' but Houston County Georgia is like 'House-ton' & you have, loot, moot, toot, cahoot, fruit, root, boot, foot.
Freight room in a restored 1900s depot, now there's a most fitting setting for a model railway! 😎

This great video is peaking my interest in Z scale! I didn't realize the possibilties.

I never knew there was something smaller than an N scale. Fascinating
Absolutely superb in terms of the beauty of this layout.

This is in Tomball? I grew up in Tomball and just moved out in 2017! I'll have to check this out next time I visit!
Need to see a layout plan to more fully understand the routes!
The track' plan map is in the full version of TMR's March issue.
Great layout. Is this layout dc or dcc powered are there dcc Engines in z scale ? Thanks and subscribed!
Thanks again.
George
It is DC on this layout. Digitrax I know has Z Scale Decoders. their part numbers start with DZ126
Is this in Tomball? Im in Katy with a small set of Z scale, and would like advice/inspiration to share with my son.
Hi, Alan! Yes, Mr. Dave's model is available for viewing every Saturday 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Tomball Railroad Depot 201 South Elm, Tomball, TX 77375.
Come by the Tomball depot on Saturdays from 10-2
Where is this layout located?
Tomball, Texas. Outside of Houston.

Is this setup available for public viewing? If so, where is it located? Just ordered my first setup in Z!
I think it is still open to the public. It is in Houston Texas area though.
Such a sad example of poor film ing/edditing
Filming 2 guys talking ?

LOL shaddup.
Wish the pronunciation of the scale was as good as the layouts- it’s pronounced “ZED” not “Zee”
LOL, okay. . .
In the US it is generally called "Zee".
