I’m loving these videos! I got into your music through Conversations Parade way back in the day. And I love love love your music, but listening to you talk is also top notch.
Appreciated your perspective on that Culture United stream. So much of this hip hop "culture" discourse has devolved into why we all agree this one product is the best, and how to root out anybody who doesn't agree. It's refreshing to have someone who has been at the coalface of producing creative art for many years speak up for themselves and their peers. If you like Kendrick, Drake, Cole that's fine but for many people that ain't it. For some it's the DOOMs, the Kas the Woods and Elucids, the Breeze Brewins and OMEs that provide genuine artistic nourishment. "come over to our side, get an education" we got people though.
That was a really great point about the short jokes. Didn't even pick up on those, but that is refreshing I agree. Happy New Year and thanks for the honest, unbiased perspective 💯 salute
I'm already tired of how people are responding to this; 'He's just clout chasing.' Um, yeah. It's rap. If we're going to talk about people being the king/GOAT, anyone should be able to come for their head. Edit: pause
Apparently no one can go for the crown now unless you meet all the different criteria many fan groups have. Never thought I’d see the day it was like this.
LOL, I really enjoy your critical style. Super deadpan and laser precise. I got that same confusion from the video. There's that shot of the house where the siding is all fucked up.

"He's got on 5 coats and a scarf" 😂 I think it's interesting when rappers go at other rappers because of a created beef and what could be viewed as jealousy of their position instead of self reflection of why the public isn't feeling them the same way.....
@@RocstarNailbomb i think your comment is valid though, like that is instantly what hearing about this Joey track makes me think. sure not everything is perfectly fair, but there is a reason Kendrick has gotten the attention he has this year. “tell me why you deserve the greatest of all time”
@SHIFTKICK word. Like I get it, this is a thing artists have done for decades, but like Joseph Badminton has enough of a name and talent that he should be above trying to ride K.Dots coat tails for relevance. Just come out and showcase your skill, blow everyone's mind, say you're the best, but to insert yourself in the middle and try to create antagonism is wack to me.

I will say that Tyler, The Creator and especially Doechii (not West Coast per se but reps TDE) had also been getting tons of love last year which I feel added to the licking that Joey is talking about. I'm not the biggest Joey Badman fan either, but I did appreciate this song. He sounds motivated. I think the year Kendrick had is going to inspire a lot of people to step up in the ways that his Control verse inspired people before. EDIT: Realized I put riding instead of licking lol

Bc as someone who just loves good Hiphop music no matter the sub genre, and someone who is an “underground hiphop artist”(an unsuccessful one but one none the less) I only see good artists with good bodies of work, or bad artists with bad bodies of work. Mr. Eagle, I'm gonna write this like an email cause I'm a big fan. Brick Body Complex has been an influential song on both my taste and life. I'm writing this because of something you said in both this video and the 4th episode of Justin Hunte's podcast, "Culture United". You've mentioned that you're not really a big Kendrick fan, and instead like a lot of other, more underground, and in your opinion, more conceptual artists (lmk if I paraphrased that wrong). Could you possibly do a video where you recommend some? Personally I'm a big Kendrick fan, but even when it comes to underground acts, I only really get to see talks of Danny, Mach Hommy, Billy Woods, MIKE, (Does Earl still count lol?), and while they are all amazing, they tend to take a lot of the shine in the underground community. They're still great, I just want to (and others may benefit from it maybe) find and support other artists too. You mentioned some in this video even, and I only recognized Danny.
