These two necks are laid out for a 24.75 inch scale, like a Les Paul. One guitar is having it's fret slots cut and the other is having it frets installed. Come hang out in the shop for a bit.

    Great video! Thanks for the great tips. Im building my first cbg myself. How do you get such a smooth glossy finish on the fret board? Is it a particular product or technique? Might make a good video too!

      Good question! First, thank you for watching and good luck on your build. The finish is just spray can clear lacquer satin finish. Two to three coats with sanding in between coats with 320 grit sandpaper. After the final coat is dry, I use 0000 Steel Wool, thats superfine. I use the steel wool like sandpaper or a rag that I am cleaning with just rubbing the whole thing. Not just straight, not just circles, just random. And thanks for noticing, I thing the fretboard looks awesome too.

    great video, thanks. Is it hard to cut frets with regular fret cutter/plyer ...?

      @WoodPortGuitars  13 дней назад +1

      Thank you. The longer the handle is, the easier it will be to cut, you get more leverage. With the short handle pair, about 4 inches long, I sometimes have to use both hands. Ling handles and sharp, make it easy. Thanks for watching! Cheers!

    Nice job! Did you cut the headstock to make it thinner for the tuners?

      Thanks and thanks for watching! I did cut the headstocks on the bandsaw. I already had my tuners so I knew how thin to cut the headstock.

    What kind of finish did you use.I like it very much

    • @WoodPortGuitars
      @WoodPortGuitars  21 день назад

      It was Rustoleum 2x Clear Semi- Gloss. 3 to 4 coats with a light sanding in between with 320 grit. I do talk about that finish in more of my videos, I still use it. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching! Cheers!

    What finish did you use on the neck. I noticed a shine which to me is perfect and would like to duplicate on a 3-string I’m building.

    • @WoodPortGuitars
      @WoodPortGuitars  5 месяцев назад

      Rustoleum 2x clear Lacquer Semi Gloss. Three light coats maybe four. The wood was sanded to 220 grit. I sanded with 320 grit between coats of clear. Thanks for watching!

      Yes. I want to inspire people to build, so I say, "Use what you have. If the tool can be modified to make it better, then absolutely modify. Thanks Clawhammer, and thank you for watching.
