    Thank you thank you for the video!! I recently purchased the B475 (first new machine in 47 years) and had no idea how to change the sole. Was afraid I was going to break it when trying to loosen the little screw on the right. You just made a comment about loosening it until it gets tight and then it worked like a charm. I don't like the Bernina videos because you have to try reading and working at the same time. You are great!

    Excellent instructions. A word of warning: When I first got my walking foot, I was attempting to change the presser foot. I mistakenly loosened the screw too much and it fell out. I haven’t seen it since. I searched all over, crawled around the carpet with a magnet, but had no success. I finally found an out-of-state Bernina dealer who agreed to sell one to me; I don’t think it’s a Bernina part that is available for separate purchase.

    Thanks very much for your clear videos. I have been watching and learning. I just bought my first Bernina, the 475. I am still learning the machine. I had a late model Husqvarna previously. I have many Husqvarna clip on feet. Is there a shank adapter that would allow me to use my Husqvarna feet?
    Thanks for any assistance you can give me. I have looked at the Bernina accessory book but it’s very confusing because I am so new to Bernina and unfamiliar with what all the numbers mean.

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  3 года назад

      I am so happy my videos are helping you learn your new machine. The 475 is my favorite smaller bernina it’s got what I feel everything most people need. So there is no guarantee that your Husqvarna feet will fit but what you’ll need to find out is snap on shank # 78. Some snap on feet the little bar where it snaps on it’s a different size and width than the snap on shank but # 78 so there really is no guarantee unless you have the shank and a snap on soul to find out. Hopefully it work out for you. ☺️

    Love the idea for the new segment. :D I had been wanting to know more about the walking foot since its being offered as a free gift with the 570 qe. Ive been confused on the difference between when you want to use the walking foot and when you would want to use the duel feed. 🤔

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  4 года назад +5

      I decided to do a weekly foot segment, it might be starting next week. Bernina has so many feet that there are a lot to cover. :) Nina Mcveigh taught me that a quilter can greatly benefit from having both walking foot and the dual feed system. The dual feed system is a "light duty walking foot" great for everyday sewing and light quilting. However the Walking foot is like having a Four Wheel Drive Truck, It gives you extra traction and really pulls many layers without any hesitation especially thicker items. So when I am working with a larger quilt that is going to have a lot of drag I use the walking foot, that is if I am not free-motioning. The only thing with the walking foot currently is it is a 5.5mm stitch width. Where as the dual feed allows for 9 mm designs. :)

    • @mrsfriedmsh
      @mrsfriedmsh 4 года назад +1

      Sewing With Cody and Pete interesting if I was working on a quilt that was fleece and minky would the walking foot be better due to the thickness of the fabrics? Especially with how fleece likes to stretch. It’s been quite the learning experience lol Excited for the new videos! Yes so many feet!!!

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  4 года назад +2

      @@mrsfriedmsh YESSS the walking foot is probably the only option for fleece and minky in a quilt. Just another reason to own a walking foot because it allows you to whatever you want. :)

    Just bought B 590. Like your videos. Thank you for all the tips and insight. On the walking foot, do you have a video showing it in action? This vid seems more about "theory." I'm not familiar with how this foot works and how I would use it.

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  3 года назад +1

      That would make a great video will have to add it to my list, because I don't think I have a video actually using the walking foot in an application. But once you attach it to the machine you will use it like any other foot especially on a machine that doesn't have a built in dual feed which the 590 does have. The walking foot will just give you even better feeding when working with really stretchy fabrics or bulky fabrics.
      Thank you for the video suggestion and hope the videos continue to help you with your new machine. :)

    Cody, I have a B770qe, when I attach my walking foot it is loose on the post it slides onto. When I first used it, it would fall off while sewing. I tried tightening the screw that holds the piece on with lever. Realized the lever wasn’t moving all the way around the edge to hold the foot on. I messed with that piece with lever, and now it holds the foot on, but the foot is kinda loose and wiggles just a little on the post that comes down. What to do?

  • @captainfranknoneofyourbusi8564

    Hi Cody. I purchased a bernina walking foot on eBay. I don't think it works correctly. The foot goes up and down but not back and forth. St least not on its own. It appears to go back and forth because the lower set of dogs move it.
    Or is that all it does.

  • @mybestofutube

    Hi Cody - a question for you. Can the walking foot be used with the seam guide with rulers? I recently bought these and can't figure out how they could work with mine. They fit fine in other feet, but I would like to use them with my walking foot. thanks for your great tutorials!

    • @karodora
      @karodora 3 года назад

      The seam guides with the rulers won’t work with the walking foot. The flat ruler interferes with the up/down motion of the lever attached to the needle bar. The only guides I can use on my walking foot are those that came with it. Perhaps you could mark your WF guides with a Sharpie with the measurements you want for a particular project.

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  4 года назад

      You’re welcome I am glad my videos are helping. Unfortunately the bernette B 77 does not have a walking foot. Since it has the bernette dual feed and the way it’s designed it can’t accommodate a tradition walking foot. So unless they design something there isn’t one that fits. Sorry.

  • @omobolasalako6251

    Is this walking foot necessary for a B590 machine?

    • @sewingwithcodyandpete8651
      @sewingwithcodyandpete8651  4 года назад

      Depends on what you are sewing. For me I love my walking foot no matter what machine I am on. If I am on a machine like the 590 with dual feed, there are many times when a walking foot is more effective that the dual feed. If I am quilting something like a throw or larger the walking foot really makes it easier to feed that weight through the machine. The walking foot handles that bulk and weight much better.
      Hope this helps. :)
