Regardless of what games you included in your list and their rankings, this is an impressive feat of editing and knowledge to have accomplished all by yourself. Great work!
@@ErickLandonRPG that is youtube in general longer videos less watch time compared to the length of the video. Obviously, there are exceptions to the rule, but I figure most people just do not have the time or patience to watch long videos.
@@ErickLandonRPG i think the threshold for decent ad payout and not getting lengthy is about 11-15 min. You could break it up into parts, uploading frequently helps you with the algorithm as well.
Nobody: Erick Landon RPG: "This RPG is balanced" But seriously, 100 list?! I haven't even played some of these games... I really appreciate this video!
This video is like a JRPG bible! Except that Time and Eternity is such a masterpiece it should’ve been on the list twice. Thanks for the hard work this year Erick, so much great content. Have a great vacation and see you next year!
I had the impression that Time and Eternity was one of the most widely hated JRPGs of all time. I've never played it, but I've heard nothing but bad things.
Acid Wizard you are 100% correct. We just like to tease Erick because he hates it so much. It’s widely believed that Erick has a secret shrine full of posters and sealed copies of the game 😉
Thank you Erick Landon for all the videos this year. You made me start collecting rpgs again (mostly for ps3) and i love it. See you next year, i will be watching and enjoying your content for another year. THANKS!!
Thanks for the fantastic video. It was the perfect way to end the year. I can tell a lot of time and work went into it. Looking forward to even more great videos next year. :D
It's insane how many good ones there actually are. I didn't see anything glaring on the list that I'd toss out. Yet the honorable mentions had a handful of games that would be in my top 15-20. God, I love Radiata. I one time watched a video of just its cutscenes on RUclips when my PS2 broke because the game's dialogue's hilarious.
¡Que gran regalo! Uno de esos videos que se quedan para consultar y sacar más títulos por conocer. Todo en un compendio. Feliz navidad y año nuevo, man.
I literally have the utmost respect for you, your videos are amazing for me as a fellow jrpg fan. Hope you continue to keep the good work. With you all the way through😁😁
Thanks for doing what you do. Your heart and passion shows in each video, and it's what makes you one of my favorite channels on RUclips. See you in 2020!
great video, it really lets me reflect how far we have come, and how i wish there was more risks taken in innovation of gameplay. keep up the great work! :)
@Owen Marble this comment is enough proof to show that you have a very low self esteem... nope i'am kinda of the whole opposite ^^ i love my life - i love Final Fantasy and idk maybe you have a waifu/husbando bodypillow?×_×
Nearly all of these seem like they were targeted toward a western audience, especially considering that there are 6 Final Fantasy games on it. If you like those kinds of games that's fine, but you don't have to refer to the kinds of games that some other people like as "weeb shit."
Hoo boy, since I've made it a habit of making my own lists on the same subject as you, but 100 games seems a bit steep, so I'll meet you halfway there. So yeah, here are my top 50 JRPGs, with my three rules just to make things a little less monotonous: 1. I'll only include games I've played (duh) 2. I will only list a game once, so for example, I won't be using both Persona 4 AND Persona 4: Golden. 3. Only three games per franchise, just to avoid too much repetition (looking at you Tales and Pokémon) Anyways, here we go: 50. *Octopath Traveler* 49. Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana 48. Bravely Second: End Layer 47. Fairy Fencer F: Dark Advent Force 46. Crimson Gem Saga 45. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team 44. Baten Kaitos Origins 43. Grandia II 42. Yakuza Kiwami 2 41. Xenoblade Chronicles 40. *Pokémon Platinum* 39. Super Paper Mario 38. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age 37. Shadow Hearts: Covenant 36. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 35. Golden Sun 34. Mana Khemia 2: Fall of Alchemy 33. Suikoden III 32. Pokémon Emerald 31. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES 30. *Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch* 29. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story 28. Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica 27. Odin Sphere 26. Rogue Galaxy 25. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga 24. Pokémon Heartgold & Soulsilver 23. Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits 22. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II 21. Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis 20. *Final Fantasy VI* 19. Paper Mario 18. Tales of the Abyss 17. Suikoden V 16. Pokémon Black/White 15. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III 14. Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride 13. Chrono Trigger 12. Earthbound 11. Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology 10. *Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean* 9. *Yakuza 0* 8. *Tales of Vesperia* 7. *Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King* 6. *Persona 4: Golden* 5. *Suikoden II* 4. *Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door* 3. *Persona 5* 2. *Skies of Arcadia Legends* 1. *Tales of Symphonia* Whev, that took a while to make, I dread to think how much time it would have taken had I gone all the way to 100. Anyways, nice job on your list, and thanks for all the recommends!
That was a massive list that must've taken a lot of work to produce! Thank you for the sweat & passion you've put into your videos all year long. Merry Christmas Erick! P.S. I have Radiant Historia on the DS, do I need it again on the 3DS? I haven't played it. Which one is a better starting point? I did get the 3DS upgrade of Strange Journey & Devil Survivor and find them more accessible than their DS counterparts.
Brilliant video thank you, but I would really like to see it in order of your top 100 rather than random order. I and I imagine most of your audience, really appreciate and value your opinion. Your insights into RPGs is one of the many reasons why we love your content.
"Number 50: Final Fantasy IX, my personal favorite in the series..." Finally someone that thinks the same as me. I think we might have similar tastes, so I'll subscribe for recommendations. Your videos are interesting by the way.
Chrono Trigger is one of, if not the greatest JRPG of all time. Erick prefers Chrono Cross, which to me was a disappointing mess of a game. There is a huge cast of utterly forgettable and interchangeable characters, with no thought or development to them. Cross is also extremely easy, and can probably be beaten just by spamming regular attacks with no need for the convoluted skill system and field effects. The last bit of critique for now is the leveling system. In Cross you only gain a level after beating a boss, which in theory negates the need for grinding. The problem is, that makes regular battles pointless, and they just end up wasting your time. Also the game is so easy that level grinding wouldn't be necessary in the first place. Trigger is full of memorable moments, characters, development, and you feel like what you do matters, as it effects future time periods. Trigger has many endings depending on what stage you are at when you beat the game as well as what choices you've made throughout. The music is amazing, and the art design of the legendary Akira Toriyama stands out.
Great list man! I love this so much. Great work you put into this video. I like the decision to put them in random order too. the one thing I will say is I wish Terranigma made the cut.
Watched part of this at work and finished right now. I can tell a lot of work and love was put into this kudos. Its really surprising how many of these I already own, keep up the work!
I pray everyday for more Legend of Dragoon: A sequel, A remake, a remaster; please, anything. As a musician, I consider the music a formative influence and rank it amongst the best video games soundtracks ever; so freaking great.
Nice list. The only games I can think of that were not in this list are Landstalker, Terranigma, Illusion of time, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario & Luigi Super Star Saga, Final Fantasy 5, Vagrant Story, Dark Cloud 2 and Ys oath in Felghana. I know why no more Kingdom Hearts games are on the list.
Landstalker is one of the crown jewels of my collection. It's also the ROM I use to test the quality of emulators. If that game isn't playable, then the emulator isn't worth a damn!
You even brought a fireplace!!? This is serious! I can't wait to get through this Edit: 1) mostly agree with the top 10 2) was happy to see lufia 2 up there 3) you can't go wrong with the kingdom of Zeal music in the background
Awesome Video man. I saw all my favorites! One game I think everyone slept on, and deserves an Honorable Mention is World of Final Fantasy. That game was nuts. Super deep "mirage leveling system" reminiscent of FFXs sphere grid. Kingdom Hearts level graphics, the implementation of past FF games was a love letter to longtime fans. The story was interesting and had decent (not amazing) character development. Along with grindy endgame dungeons, the pvp scene is pretty fun to do in the post game. Hope you enjoy your break man. Big fan of your videos.
Erick Landon's best of the best & one of the coolest people I have talked to plus I don't mind how he placed the list because all these games hold a special place in my heart & have shaped my ability to construct stories in an RPG style online & helped me make alot of wonderful friends! 😄
amazing list! gonna try out a lot of these games. gosh, feels good to be busy again XD btw, worth mentioning I loved how u put parts of the gameplay to each of these games, it adds up real nice to the viewer experience. made me figure out what type of game I wanted to play. starting off with Odin Sphere! let's kick some butts in a cute anime style.
@@Frozensniper0 like book collectors, Jrpg's are the modern day novel books that we invest time along with gameplay to get immersed in their stories. Now finding the time to play all these great games is the ultimate challenge
@@Frozensniper0 rough estimate, I own maybe 60 of the 100. Probably only finished about 20 of them. The list also didn't include one of my personal favorites, Shining the Holy Ark. Best dungeon crawler ever.
I like that Jeanne D'arc made it in. One of the most underrated games ever. People like to talk about FFTactics like its SRPG messiah. I always ask them have you played Jeanne D'arc? The answer is always no and its so frustrating.
I played it. Good one but not Amazing one. The selling point of Jeanne for me is Historical context, like I wanna know how developer have in store to modificate the storyline. In term of tactical SRPG even the very old Brigandine (!) offer a better gameplay. But Jeanne at least pretty decent. B+ in score
Truly one of the best ps1 games and rpg's! Also gotta love the fact that you have to experiment to get the right combos and all. Unless you get a guide or something. xD But nonetheless amazing!
Awesome list man. Was drinking with a few buddies and compare our titles that we play and passed. I was like man.. my game didn't make top 10.(Chrono Trigger) and When 2nd place was up, my friend was popling off. I totally forgot about 1st place and then I turn around and celebrated right back hahaha
Just came here with time machine! Thanks for all the hard work and great selection of JRPG games! It is good to have list of games that needs to be checked!
Thanks for the list! My own would definitely include Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen and Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. Excellent games, there's nothing quite like them.
Great video.. glad my some of my favorites made the list.. just a question: have you tried dragon’s dogma.. never heard you talk about the game and was wondering what do you think about it?
Nice compilation I just finally got to start Trails Of Cold Steel and I'm so hooked on its gameplay and story, I'm thrilled there are two more after this first one!
Its so interesting to me how opinions differ on games.I loved Sky and Crossbell and just hate the harem/anime/school slice of life aspect of Cold Steel
@@TheRoleplayer40k its not the most original idea but it goes along with Japanese tropes I pretty much accept at this point. I'm currently playing Trails Of Coldsteel III and its definitely the best one that ties the other games together into this one. Coldsteel IV will actually bring in more characters from the sky trilogy and crossbell duology. The world and its politics and story all flow together into a very in depth and comprehensive story. (:
There's so much greatness on the main list and the honorable mentions that I can't argue a single thing, I can just get excited that there are so many amazing RPGs out there for us to enjoy :D
Only just got round to watching this and well done, I think its a very solid list! I've personally played 47 of these (with a further 28 in my backlog), and this definitely focuses my mind on both what to play and buy next.
All my favourites made it! Final Fantasy IV, VI, VII and IX. Persona 4 and 5. Grandia, Breath of Fire IV, Vandal Hearts, Suikoden II. Eternal Sonata and Valkyria Chronicles.... Just remembered one you missed...
I have to say personally I wouldn't change that many games off of this "random list", maybe 10-15 games which I think is pretty good lol. I would likely have added bravely default, ogre battle march of the black queen and crystalis for sure off the top of my head but I must say Great list😀
Great list, so many games I'm considering playing, might have to come back to check. Chrono cross being 1 despite list not being in order, is understandable, that game is what got me into RPGs
I'm surprised to see that you liked the Suikoden V as i did. It was a slow start but the story is so captivating it blew my mind. Nice job on the list.
I'm glad these were not released in any kind of order. I feel like games are better celebrated when it's done this way because a specific order just causes arguments.
This video filled me with nostalgia for a lot of this games... great job Erick!! On a side note, have you played Bravely Default/Second?? They are amazing JRPGs in my opinion
My top 10 (no series duplicates): 1. Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 2. Final Fantasy Tactics 3. Suikoden II 3. Xenogears 4. Chrono Trigger 5. Breath of Fire IV 7. Persona 5 8. Lufia 2 9. Secret of Mana 10. Illusion of Gaia
A lot of the older games on here I’ve actually never heard of But I can definitely see why they deserve to be on this list Also I see you put the two best Star Oceans on here! Thank you! The 2nd Story and Till the End of Time are two of my favorite games ever made ! 2nd Story I’m pretty nostalgic with since it’s the first RPG I ever played And TTEOT I especially love bc you can literally play it till the end of time ! I once played it for 10 hours straight and I’ve yet to do that with any other game so far Also I think Kingdom Hearts 1 should have definitely been in here !! It’s one of the best PS2 games ever made!!
Incredible list that reminded me of a few games. I know it’s your opinion and there’s thousands of potential games to pull from but, I can’t help but get hung up on the absence of Front Mission 3 haha. Thanks for putting this together!
For me the best jrpg games i have ever played and will put them all in the same basket are final fantasy XII, Shin megami tensei 3 and 4 (not apocalypse, the game was excellent but lacked the open ended interpretation of the player and feeling of darkness and isolation), xenoblade chronicles 1 and the Xenosaga trilogy. However, the king and number one for me is without a doubt Xenoblade chronicles X. That game was simply sublime and an absolute treat and to think that in the reveals i said "meh"...
4:52 Atelier is french in origin. I have heard it pronounced “adle-yay” and “ah-Til-lee-ay” It means “an area where an artist works” so I think in most normal uses in English, most people just say “art studio” * pronunciations could still be wrong, since I’m American.
It's a strange feeling, being both satisfied and frustrated having played like 75% of this list. Satisfied of having played a lot of great (and sometimes not-so-great, but opinions are opinions) games, and frustrated of having explored the majority of the great genre that is RPGs. I remember when I got my first SNES emulator and was searching for hidden gems among a random list of roms. Will not forget the awesome discovery that was Lufia 2, that game really took me by surprised and I ended up clearing the optional ultimate dungeon, and those that have done it knows the madness it represents. So yeah, awesome list. Gave me quite a few titles to look into, never got into the Persona series, might by time to check it!
been gaming since the nes era, i pretty much played most of the best rpgs out there whether it's jrpgs or wrpgs. to me, these are the greatest rpgs of all time (only 1 per series except for equals. also true rpgs here only, no games that lean towards other genres more, wit only a few rpg elements...this sadly excludes zelda). 33. lost odyssey 32. baldurs gate 2 31. pokemon: gold version 30. rouge galaxy 29. the world ends with you 28. star ocean: the last hope 27. dragon age inqusition 26. the witcher 3 25. the legend of dragoon 24. eternal sonata 23. star wars: knights of the old republicans 22. lunar: silver star harmony 21. vagrant story 20. secrets of mana 19. dark cloud 2 18. skies of arcadia 17. ni no kuni 1 16. the elder scrolls V: skyrim 15. shin megami tensai v 14. fallout 3 13. mass effect 2 12. diablo 2 11. paper mario 1 10. tales of vesperia 9. nier automata 8. earthbound 7. dragonquest 5 6. kingdom hearts 2 final mix 5. xenoblade chronicles & xenogears - tie 4. final fantasy 6 & final fantasy 9 - tie 3. dark souls 2. chrono trigger & chrono cross - tie 1. persona 5 royal if a game isn't on my list? it's either because i don't like it, never played it or am forgetting about it. maybe i'll include any i forgot on the list y'all ✌.
always love watching your videos since i'm a big fan of jrpg and this list just shows how we kinda have the same taste. the games that i love the most from the list : - chrono cross - suikoden v - wild arms 2 - tales of xilia - tales of graces - persona 3, 4, 5 - dragon quest xi - star ocean till the end of time - FF VIII, X
my top 10: 10.- Tales of Phantasia 9.- Mana Khemia 2 8.- Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2 7.- Dragon Quest IV 6.- Xenosaga Ep 1 5.- Earthbound 4.- Persona 5 3.- Final Fantasy X 2.- Chrono Cross 1.- Avatar Tuner: Digital Devil Saga
So I missed number 8, unfortunately. I'm not sure which game would fit in that number, but if you guys had to choose, which JRPG would it be? Come on, I know you all love saying "where is this game?" or "this game should have been on the list" so here's your chance to include THAT particular game!

Always hate seeing any list without time stamp. You’re the MVP!
Regardless of what games you included in your list and their rankings, this is an impressive feat of editing and knowledge to have accomplished all by yourself. Great work!
Chrono Cross is the one game I turned on and left on my television screen just to loop the World theme over and over again. Will never forget it.
Chrono cross has an awesome soundtrack!
I used to do that with the opening of the game.
Me too... CHRONO CROSS MY BEST GAME OF ALL AND FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME, until now...
I understand one thing from that list... There is just soo many good jrpg, it s incredible.
This is wild. He actually did it. He made the massive list. *Grabs popcorn*

"The longer the video, the less watchtime I get."
I'm willing to watch long videos, even if I can't watch the entire video at once.
You belong to a very small minority, sadly =( I would have loved to make this video at least 45 minutes long.
@Erick Landon RPG I would love to watch it. I don't care how long the video is, as long it has good content. Just keep what your doing Sir Erick.

This is a list that legends are made of. Most of my personnal favorites are on there, and it's seriously one of your best lists yet!
Nobody:
Erick Landon RPG: "This RPG is balanced"
But seriously, 100 list?! I haven't even played some of these games... I really appreciate this video!
Try Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins. Underrated Gems!
I liked it. Nothing earth shattering but it was fun.
I was expecting that aswell
Thank you Erick Landon for all the videos this year. You made me start collecting rpgs again (mostly for ps3) and i love it. See you next year, i will be watching and enjoying your content for another year. THANKS!!
Thanks for the fantastic video. It was the perfect way to end the year. I can tell a lot of time and work went into it.
Looking forward to even more great videos next year. :D
Dude, since I found your channel my backlog became giant! There are so many good JRPGs which I have never heard of until recently.
With you all the way through😁😁
Fantastic list of awesome JRPGs! This is probably now my favorite video in this channel. Great work!
That old school fire emblem music hit the feels bad, love that game and wish theyd make it available again
Dragon Quest 11 is my number 1 JRPG. Lots of reasons really but first because Jade is the best girl !
Great to see Devil survivor 1 and 2 on the list. Also hoping to see more falcom titles in the future
Thanks for doing what you do. Your heart and passion shows in each video, and it's what makes you one of my favorite channels on RUclips. See you in 2020!
This list is incredible and you just rip through it. Well done, sir. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
great video, it really lets me reflect how far we have come, and how i wish there was more risks taken in innovation of gameplay. keep up the great work! :)

nope i'am kinda of the whole opposite ^^
i love my life - i love Final Fantasy
and idk maybe you have a waifu/husbando bodypillow?×_×
Nearly all of these seem like they were targeted toward a western audience, especially considering that there are 6 Final Fantasy games on it. If you like those kinds of games that's fine, but you don't have to refer to the kinds of games that some other people like as "weeb shit."
Hoo boy, since I've made it a habit of making my own lists on the same subject as you, but 100 games seems a bit steep, so I'll meet you halfway there. So yeah, here are my top 50 JRPGs, with my three rules just to make things a little less monotonous:
1. I'll only include games I've played (duh)
2. I will only list a game once, so for example, I won't be using both Persona 4 AND Persona 4: Golden.
3. Only three games per franchise, just to avoid too much repetition (looking at you Tales and Pokémon)
Anyways, here we go:
50. *Octopath Traveler*
49. Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana
48. Bravely Second: End Layer
47. Fairy Fencer F: Dark Advent Force

Whev, that took a while to make, I dread to think how much time it would have taken had I gone all the way to 100. Anyways, nice job on your list, and thanks for all the recommends!
I like your list, and especially Skies of Arcadia. I don't feel like that game gets nearly enough love.
good list
My top 5
1-SMT nocturne
2-Phantasy Star 2(and 4)
3-Dragon Quest 11 (and 5,9)
4-Fire Emblem awakening
5-Dragon Age inquisition
(Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3/V/4, Persona 1/2/3/4/5 , Chrono Trigger,
Smt devil survivor 1/2, FF 4/6/7/8/9/10/12, Shining Force 1/2/3, Golden Sun, Witcher 3, Chuthulu Saves the World, Doom & Destiny)
"Number 50: Final Fantasy IX, my personal favorite in the series..." Finally someone that thinks the same as me. I think we might have similar tastes, so I'll subscribe for recommendations. Your videos are interesting by the way.
Chrono Trigger will always be my first one ❤️👑 great vídeo, btw!
Dude i play video games since Atari 2600. Chronno Trigger is the best video game ever in my opinion.
@@zamzabr I gotta say the same, as I also started playing games on the Atari. Chrono Trigger is the greatest
Towards the last 10 I was like: where the hell are Dragon Quest XI and Chrono Cross? You got me there...
Seeing some of his other videos, then I could already predict Chrono Cross at #1 lol.
Lufia 2 was so great. The end brought a tear to my eye when they are flying through the sky as orbs of light
Great list man! I love this so much. Great work you put into this video. I like the decision to put them in random order too. the one thing I will say is I wish Terranigma made the cut.
He said no Japan only or no fan translations. It probably would have made this list if there was an official localization.
@@KentHamson I guess he just means anything not released in North America, since Terranigma did get a PAL release so it wasnt japan only.
SMT Nocturne will always be my number one.
Also... heresy for putting Apoc so high and Nocturne so low.
he did say in a random order... but instead he put his fav at no.1... lol
@@archdemonred6108 Oh, missed that.
Well he never pass matador
Merry Christmas everyone! May you get all your RPG's this year!
Luckily this global health crisis has really given us all a lot of time to catch up on all the JRPG’s we had backlogged 😅
I can't wait to get through this
Edit: 1) mostly agree with the top 10
2) was happy to see lufia 2 up there
3) you can't go wrong with the kingdom of Zeal music in the background

Awesome Video man. I saw all my favorites!
One game I think everyone slept on, and deserves an Honorable Mention is World of Final Fantasy. That game was nuts. Super deep "mirage leveling system" reminiscent of FFXs sphere grid. Kingdom Hearts level graphics, the implementation of past FF games was a love letter to longtime fans. The story was interesting and had decent (not amazing) character development. Along with grindy endgame dungeons, the pvp scene is pretty fun to do in the post game.
Hope you enjoy your break man. Big fan of your videos.
choked on my drink when 79 was Xenoblade
Thanks for this early Christmas present, Erick. Keep doing an amazing job. Happy holidays!
A great reference list for collecting and playing jrpg we all missed out on. I definitely going save this video. Great job Erick! 👊💥
Im suprised at how many of these i personally own.(played and completed is another story)
@@Frozensniper0 like book collectors, Jrpg's are the modern day novel books that we invest time along with gameplay to get immersed in their stories. Now finding the time to play all these great games is the ultimate challenge
@@VicVein That much is true Im currently trying to use as much time between work to play Persona 4 Golden
@@Frozensniper0 rough estimate, I own maybe 60 of the 100. Probably only finished about 20 of them. The list also didn't include one of my personal favorites, Shining the Holy Ark. Best dungeon crawler ever.
#1 is Omega Quintet, calling it now!

I like that Jeanne D'arc made it in. One of the most underrated games ever. People like to talk about FFTactics like its SRPG messiah. I always ask them have you played Jeanne D'arc? The answer is always no and its so frustrating.
It is fairly slow, to be fair.
Best S-RPG is Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn.
B+ in score
I still think Devil Survivor is the best SRPG, but Jeanne D'arc comes close
FFTactics is the best srpg and theres nothing wrong with that
The game that started me on the genre Legend of Legaia
It's a somewhat forgotten game but its a worthie classic of the genre.
Truly one of the best ps1 games and rpg's! Also gotta love the fact that you have to experiment to get the right combos and all. Unless you get a guide or something. xD But nonetheless amazing!
As a 50 something lifelong JRPG fan I loved this list. So many memories.
I am very happy that Wild Arms 2 got some recognition. In my top 4 games of all time
Just came here with time machine! Thanks for all the hard work and great selection of JRPG games! It is good to have list of games that needs to be checked!
Great loveletter to the genre ❤️ Excellent stuff, Eric 👌
Thanks for the list! My own would definitely include Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen and Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. Excellent games, there's nothing quite like them.
Great video.. glad my some of my favorites made the list.. just a question: have you tried dragon’s dogma.. never heard you talk about the game and was wondering what do you think about it?
This guy must have played a ton of RPGs to be able to make a top 100 list. Absolute mad man.
That start was insane:
Well C**
I appreciate The Legend of Dragoon music.
There's so much greatness on the main list and the honorable mentions that I can't argue a single thing, I can just get excited that there are so many amazing RPGs out there for us to enjoy :D
I bought Rondo of Swords thanks to you, so maybe there will be more reccs to buy in here. Always fun channel!
Love your vids and your energy. You really have brass balls doing a list like this for Christmas, mucho kudos to you
Only just got round to watching this and well done, I think its a very solid list!
I am so glad there is someone else out there that loves Chrono Cross as much as I do. That game will always be a true masterpiece
I have to say personally I wouldn't change that many games off of this "random list", maybe 10-15 games which I think is pretty good lol. I would likely have added bravely default, ogre battle march of the black queen and crystalis for sure off the top of my head but I must say Great list😀
Crystalis FTW 💎. I need to play that game again soon.
Great list, so many games I'm considering playing, might have to come back to check. Chrono cross being 1 despite list not being in order, is understandable, that game is what got me into RPGs
Omg i'm sick!! I played a 98% of this list hahah
I'm suprised that Tales Of Phantasia didn't make the list.
That is surprising, amazing game.
I think he has said before he doesn't care for the GBA version and that was the only one released in the west.

I'm surprised to see that you liked the Suikoden V as i did. It was a slow start but the story is so captivating it blew my mind. Nice job on the list.
pretty damned good list, my dude.
I think only two titles I love didn't get on here, oddly enough. AR Tonelico and Saga Frontier 2.

But I can definitely see why they deserve to be on this list
Also I see you put the two best Star Oceans on here!
Thank you!
The 2nd Story and Till the End of Time are two of my favorite games ever made !
2nd Story I’m pretty nostalgic with since it’s the first RPG I ever played
And TTEOT I especially love bc you can literally play it till the end of time !
I once played it for 10 hours straight and I’ve yet to do that with any other game so far
Also I think Kingdom Hearts 1 should have definitely been in here !! It’s one of the best PS2 games ever made!!
Incredible list that reminded me of a few games.
I know it’s your opinion and there’s thousands of potential games to pull from but, I can’t help but get hung up on the absence of Front Mission 3 haha.
Thanks for putting this together!
Oh man you're the BEST! (As always) great list almost all I own lol
I have heard it pronounced “adle-yay” and “ah-Til-lee-ay”
It means “an area where an artist works” so I think in most normal uses in English, most people just say “art studio”
* pronunciations could still be wrong, since I’m American.
The Cruxis Sword and Sojourner are the best ones I've played in a while. They're sort of hidden gems.
I was getting so damn anxious for not hearing my all-time favorite Chrono Cross' name. I'm now relieved.
A very good list, thanks for sharing and happy holidays!
been gaming since the nes era, i pretty much played most of the best rpgs out there whether it's jrpgs or wrpgs.
to me, these are the greatest rpgs of all time (only 1 per series except for equals. also true rpgs here only, no games that lean towards other genres more, wit only a few rpg elements...this sadly excludes zelda).
