    Do you need to true your dart legs in the slash and spread method? I apologize if this is a naive question!

    • @TheAwlNighter1
      @TheAwlNighter1  7 месяцев назад

      Yes you will need to true them

    • @AtelierDSD
      @AtelierDSD 7 месяцев назад

      @@TheAwlNighter1 is there anyway you could show us how to do it in that scenario? Or write it out? Im just a little confused but everything else was explained perfectly! Im still just getting into the world of patternmaking:)
      If i could assume i would guess you would use the pivot technique after the relocation to true your dart legs? Appreciate you very much!

      @AtelierDSD with either technique, you will need to true your dart legs. I have a video called "how to true darts" that may help you. With the slash and spread method you will need to put a piece of paper under the hole/need dart and tape it so you can create the dart intake. Watch that video and let me know if you have more questions!

      A college professor of mine handed it out ages ago. I just retraced it. There's a link in the description if you want to download one to practice with as well!

    what is a punch hole and what is it used for?

    • @TheAwlNighter1
      @TheAwlNighter1  Год назад

      In this case, a punch hole is hole made in the fabric to tell the sewer that the dart ends in 1/2". This is done to save money in production from not having to take the time to draw the dart on the fabric.

    you said all darts start at dart point, why is it's that you measure 1"from your bust point to connect your dart?

    • @TheAwlNighter1
      @TheAwlNighter1  Год назад

      Sorry for the late reply! Your darts can end anywhere you want them to. The industry standard for bust darts is to shorten them before they reach the apex because it can make them look pointy, but it's an art not a science and designers break the "rules" all the time!
