Here's a fun pet project I've been working on: udreamed.com/. It is a dream analytics app. Here is the RUclips channel where we post a new video almost three times per week: ruclips.net/channel/UCiujxblFduQz8V4xHjMzyzQ
Also available on iOS: apps.apple.com/us/app/udreamed/id1054428074
And Android: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.unconsciouscognitioninc.unconsciouscognition&hl=en
Check it out! Thanks!
cannot thank enough for these easy to follow instructions James.
"I have a new plugin for you" - a phrase of joy and happiness for the AMOS users from Dr Gaskin. Such a life saver! Much appreciated, James. Again, I request for an updated mediaiton plugin that would work with latent model. I cannot thank you more!!!
the latent model plugin is currently on hold. we ran into an issue of filtering out non-relevant paths. We'll take a look again over the summer.
Thanks a lot!
Thank you, Professor,, J.Gaskin for your creativity
So beautiful plugin ........
What a great plugin! Thanks a lot for sharing.
Thank you very much James ! It really helps and saves time
I was stuck in this point for 2 days and you solve my problem. Love you bro😘😘😘😘😘
Thanks for the effort,
it is great and very useful
A super useful plugin! Thanks a lot for sharing..
Saved my life! thanks
Thank you for the Plugin Dr. Gaskin. If the data does not appear on the web page when you analyze. Do not use spaces or similar marks (_) between variable names.
Thank you so much. You make my day!
James: I have Amos 24. I followed your steps. When running the plugin, it does compute the permutations but for some reason the output is not displayed in the browser tap. I’ve tried many times but it’s not working. Any suggestion?
Hmm... not sure. Sorry about that. You might try the estimand instead: ruclips.net/video/ICnh3s2FG14/видео.html
I tried a lot and finally found it :). Do not use spaces or similar marks between variable names.
Hooorayy, thank you.
Dear James! This plugin works beautifully, thank you so much! How do I cite the procedure in the paper? Do you have a paper or a reference that I can use? Thank you so much!
Sir, In Mediation analysis, if there is a 0 in between my Confidence intervals for Indirect effect, but my P value is significant, then what should i report?
Can i report only the p value, instead of confidence intervals?
Or shall i assess VAF (Variance accounted for) ? to evaluate whether it is partial or complete mediation.
This is strange that zero is within the CI, but the p-value is significant. Make sure your CIs are 95% and p-value threshold is 0.05, or CIs are 90% and p-value is 0.10. Regardless, I find it is always best to report all information.
Hi Dr. Gaskin, Dou you have this plugins for 23 or lower version, becasue I couldn't find it. I tried this version for my 21 Amos, but it didn't work.
sorry, I do not
Thank you so much for the video and plugin! Amazing. Would this be able to also test indirect effects of serial mediation?
I've never tried it on serial mediation. The code should be able to handle the parts of that mediation, but probably won't calculate the mediation across the whole line of indirect effects.
Does the indirect effect (in a simple mediation model) of your mediator only consider the IV, or also take into account the control variables in your model?
I am trying to check the robustness of the indirect effect in my simple mediation model (with 6 control variables), with the Sobel/Aroian/Goodman Test. Do I need to include my controls to check the indirect effect or not?*
*I have tried both. The indirect effect is significant as I include my controls, but insignificant as I exclude them. In my initial methodology, my indirect effect is shown to be insignificant (using bootstrapping method).
It is best practice to include the controls whenever testing a hypothesis.
Hi James, thank you very much for the plugin. I'm Using AMOS 25 and when I follow your steps, the plugin dropdown window gives me an option to choose a plugin called "? indirecteffects.dll". Do you know what am I doing wrong?
Check out the solution here: statwiki.kolobkreations.com/index.php?title=Plugins#Troubleshooting
Dear prof Gaskin, thank you so much for all your videos, I find them very helpful. To my questions: 1. With the newly created estimate for mediation, we only obtain unstandardized Estimates. Is there any possibility to obtain standardized Estimates as well? Question 2: For some reason AMOS cannot find the indirecteffect.dll file even though I download it in the same file where the other plugins are. I'm using AMOS 25. Do you have any suggestions?
1. The only way to do this would be to standardize all variables prior to entering them into AMOS. Then all unstandardized values will be roughly equivalent to standardized values.
2. Make sure to unblock the plugin (right click file, go to properties, check box for unblock).
Hi James,
Amazing videos! Thanks a lot!
Just a quick questions, I have two variables which mediation between 7 variables, it's really hard to report! I am just repeating myself! Is there any way to summarize all the mediation into a table?
Do you have any example?
Is the table shown in the video above not what you're looking for? It is a summarized table of mediated effects.
Thank you, Professor Gaskin.
Your videos are really helpful!!!
Do you know how to compare the difference between two mediators in the same model by bootstrapping?
You could use the approach shown in this video: ruclips.net/video/glJhg_fxBag/видео.html This video is specifically for multigroup, but you could name paths A, B, C, D in the same group using the same estimand.
cool there are contrasts available in spss, not sure about amos which provide comparisons between indirect paths so we have an estimate on which mechanism contributes more in influencing the DV.
Thank You Professor Gaskin for your videos.
I have downloaded your estimand in the right folder. I selected the estimand from that folder , it did change not estimating to estimatingspecificeffects;
however, I could not find the plugin indirect effect , when I clicked on plugins.
Can you please help me with this?
Make sure to put the estimand in a folder that is fully accessible. The plugins folder is not usually editable by a normal user. So, put the estimand in your documents folder. As for the plugin, make sure you first unblock it before putting it in the plugins folder. Here are some other troubleshooting tips: statwiki.kolobkreations.com/index.php?title=Plugins#Troubleshooting
Great work! It helps a lot! Could I set the number of bootstrap samples and the BC confidence level in this plugin? Thank you!
That would be cool, but it is not currently a feature. I think the default I'm using is 2000 bootstrap samples and 95% confidence intervals.
thanks James for such a nice modifications in the software. i am writing my thesis and i have used your plugins and i have also cited you in my thesis. although this etimand is very helpful but it works only with the imputed model. But one problem is after imputation my model fit has become very bad which was good when i used with observed variables with latent variables . and i don not know what is the reason behind and how to fix it.
Imputed models have far fewer degrees of freedom. A lot of model fit statistics are based on the df. more DF is usually better. My research assistant recently finished fixing this plugin to work with latent models I think. I just haven't tested it yet... You can also do it with latent models if you just use the estimand instead of plugin.
Hi Professor Gaskin, I was able to follow your suggestion and download the plugins to my computer and specific AMOS (25.0) plugin folder but when I run it in AMOS, there is a pop-up window which says "the file indirectEffects.dll contains syntax errors". Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks for sharing this wonderful plugin!
One of these suggestions might help: statwiki.kolobkreations.com/index.php?title=Plugins#Troubleshooting
Thanks for plugin. Even though I have applied the estimand, there is a message "There is no parameter called A". Is it because I am using AMOS 25 or do you have a solution for it? Thank you in advance?
Please make sure to use the SpecificIndirectEffects estimand, and not the MyIndirectEffects estimand.
Hi, Dr. Gaskin. First of, thanks for the amazing work! I am running the plugin on Amos v.24, but keep getting "there is no parameter called "A". I have tried the solutions in the troubleshooting link, but the same result. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks a bunch!
Make sure you're using the correct estimand. There are two. One is for use without the plugin, and one is for use with the plugin. Make sure to use the one with the plugin. Which one is which can be discovered on the plugins wiki page.
Thank you very much for this useful plugin. :)
I have a question: In my output under "user defined estimands" I see only "estimate, lower, upper and p values". This "estimate" value must be the unstandardized estimate, so how can I calculate the standardized estimate values?
This one will do it: ruclips.net/video/-xzkjqKhWHE/видео.html
Hi Professor Gaskin! Thank you for this useful plugin. I have one question. I am using your specific indirect effects plug-in for multiple IV, two mediators and multiple DV. However, the results table show only the Lower bound and upper bound value of the Unstandardized estimates. May I ask why is this happened? Or was the plug-in created like this in the first place? I am asking out of curiosity.. because usually I will report the Lower bound and Upper bound value of the standardized estimates as well as the p-value.
Here is an updated plugin for serial mediation and standardized estimates: ruclips.net/video/-xzkjqKhWHE/видео.html (However, I think this plugin might only work for AMOS version 26...)
Hello, thank you for the videos and tools. I am using AMOS 28 and have been trying to get the specific indirect effects (I've tried the different estimands, with and without the plugin) I get the regression but not the significance, 95%CI or SE. My model has latent variables as well as observed variables. I also have ensured there are no _ in variable names. When I run the estimand, it doesn't open up a browser with the results. Would you please be able to advise where I am going wrong? thank you !
In this case, I'd recommend just using the estimand shown here: ruclips.net/video/po6jyhqbK-U/видео.htmlsi=-evSTp9k8dhTWZ1O
This plug-in can use with AMOS 24 or over? because I use lower than 24 version, thank you
sorry, yes, it can only be used with version 24 or higher. The estimand can be used manually for versions 21+ I think.
Thank you so much dear professor Gaskin for this very helpful video. I have one small question though. Is the bootstrap CI in your plugin based on the bias-corrected or the percentile method?
If you check the box for bias corrected, it will use that. Otherwise it will use the default approach.
@@Gaskination Thank you so much.
Thank you, sir informative video,
I have a question
if we have multiple independent variables in mediation analysis do, we must draw covariance curves between independent variables or not?? can you please explain? it confusing some people draw while testing multiple regression in amos and some do not. Please share your experience Thank in advance
AMOS assumes all exogenous variables (like independent variables) are correlated. This is an assumption of all covariance-based SEM software.
Can we change Bootstrap Subsamples from 2000 to another number? and Confidence Interval from 90% to 95% when run Specific Indirect Effects AMOS plugin? Thank you!
Of course. The selection of these numbers depends on your research context.
@@Gaskination Thank you for your feeback. I set Bootstrap subsamples to 5000 and Bias-corrected CI 95% in AMOS Bootstrap Setting. But after running plugin, Bootstrap Setting in AMOS automatically changed to 2000 subsample and 90% CI. I need to report output Lower - Upper CI in 95%, but default plugin set it in 90%.
@@phamlocblogyt oh. got it. hmm... Currently the plugin does not allow for customization. Sorry about that. Perhaps I'll make the github repo public and then anyone can fork and edit it.
Dear Dr. James Gaskin,
Thank you very much for your video. I am just wondering the reason why you linked the structural error of "Useful" with the structural error of "EnjoyAVG". I guess that if not linking the path, the model fit would become poorer. In general, is it acceptable for researchers to draw covariance between structural errors of mediators in the model? If so, could you give me the rationale?
This is actually default modeling in some applications, like Mplus. This is to account for systematic relationships (manifested in error correlations) without having to imply any causal relationship.
Can you clarify please the labelling of the A, B paths. In your example shown would label all IVs to Mediators as A or A1, A2, and all Mediators to Dvs as B or B1, B2 .....? I have tried both ways but get an error message saying there is no parameter called A. I appreciate you making this plugin.
My bad -- I downloaded the wrong estimand -- all good now thanks!
Thanks for plugin. There is message when I try to estimate "there is no parameter called A". How it can be resolved?
You must make sure to apply the estimand before running the plugin.
Respected Professor Gaskin
Greetings.
Thanks for your contributions.
I have a confusion in testing indirect effects through new plugin. In this video we are seeing that data imputation was being done for generating measured variables in AMOS. My question is in which stage (either in CFA or SEM with casual model) the imputation should be done for assessing mediation effects through the plugin indirect effects? Thanks in advance.
The imputation should be done after the CFA is finalized (after all adjustments are made to accommodate model fit and factor validity, method bias and measurement invariance).
@@Gaskination
Thank you so much sir for your cordial cooperation.
Hello Mr. Gaskin, the report after running the plugin does not show direct relationships. For example, is the direct effect of "playful-InfoAcq" in the playful-useful-InfoAcq relationship the same as "Playful-InfoAcq" in the playful-EnjoyAVG-InfoAcq relationship?
yes, the direct relationship is the same
Hi James. When using the old estimand (which measure 1 indirect path at a time) is there a way to get the standardized estimates and CIs instead of the unstandardized ones? Thanks!
You can simply multiply the standardized regression weights of A and B. That will give you the standardized indirect effect.
Yes, I learned that in a previous video, thank you. But what about the confidence intervals? Is there a way to get the standardized confidence intervals for the indirect effects?
It is unusual to report standardized confidence intervals. The "true" (unstandardized) value is what we seek to place within a confidence interval to ensure that true value is different from zero.
Hello, are you planning to construct a specific indirect effect estimand for AMOS 22 or lower? Thank you very much.
Unfortunately I don't have access to older versions anymore. So, I cannot develop plugins for the older versions. Sorry about that. The estimand called "MyIndirectEffects" should work without the plugin: statwiki.gaskination.com/index.php?title=Plugins#LIST_OF_ESTIMANDS:
Professor Gaskin, thank you very much for this new and great plugin. I have just one question: after running the plugin+estimand, the table of the Indirect Effects appears without values (just with the references). Do you have any suggestion to solve this problem? Thank you!
This should only occur if there were no indirect effects in your model. If there are indirect effects, but you still end up with a blank table... I'm not sure what might cause this.
Thank you Professor! I have indirect effects since I have performed the path analysis with your previous plugin "My Indirect Estimands" and naming the paths (A) and (B), I have detected indirect effects. I just wanted to try this new plugin because it is incredible, providing a total picture of the model.
@@YaserAldhabyani-ue5bo I installed the latest version of AMOS, and now it works.
Dear James, I've downloaded the plugin. I installed as you have instructed. When I tried using in an AMOS model in which I wanted to test indirect effects, this is the message I received "the file IndrectEffects.dlll contains syntax errors. Please advise. Thanks!

Thank you James. I really appreciate it. Your videos are very very helpful! Thank you!
Thanks Prof for this awesome plugin, you are as you have always been, great instructor. I have a question which is that is this possible to be done with the latent variables model as I am trying to do it with a model which as latent variables but it is not done unfortunately.
Unfortunately no. We tried, but ran into a permutation problem. I will try to figure it out over the summer. For a latent model, you can use the old estimand instead (and just do one indirect path at a time).
Thanks Professor, can you please share the link for the old estimand ?
The estimands are all here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3T1TGdHG9aEbFg1eEpqOWtrR3c?usp=sharing
Look for the one called "MyIndirectEffects"
Hi James. When using the old estimand (which measure 1 indirect path at a time) is there a way to get the standardized estimates and CIs instead of the unstandardized ones? Thanks!
Dear prof Gaskin, I use AMOS version 24. Please help me know how to get 'SpecificIndirectEffects', because I don't see SpecificIndirectEffects in the Plugin, just have indirectEffect. Thank you very much.
Indirect effects is correct, as shown at 1:42 in this video.
Dear Dr. Gaskin, I'd like to ask you if using categorical data as exogenous variables is possible with AMOS.
I've learned a lot about working with AMOS thanks to your great videos. Thanks!
You can do it if you convert to binary (dummy) variables. In this case, if you have four categories, you would have three binary variables to represent three of those categories. The fourth category would be omitted as a reference variable.
That’s very helpful James. Thanks a lot!
I am using AMOS 29 and the plug-in for AMOS 29 did not work. So I ended up using just SpecificIndirectEffects_Path.AmosEstimandVB for specific paths for mediation. In the AMOS result, under user-defined estimand, "Estimate" values are unstandardized or standardized values? If they are unstandardized values, is there any way that I can get standardized values? Thanks!
I stopped updating the AMOS plugins after version 26 because IBM changes the codebase every time they update the software, and their changes always make my plugins inoperable. Now that SmartPLS can do covariance-based SEM, I've dropped AMOS completely. If you need to use AMOS, the plugins are available on github. Here is a video: ruclips.net/video/PCcTX_mpXM0/видео.htmlsi=x6SgFW3Few3SwYq0You can also use the Excel Stats Tools Package on the homepage of statwiki statwiki.gaskination.com/The estimand estimates are unstandardized, and the only way to make them standardized is to write a plugin.
Thank you so much, dear Professor Gaskin, you are using observed variables in this video. I am using Amos 25, I have one IV (latent variable), three parallel mediators (all are latent variables), and one DV (observed variable), May I know if I can use this plugin for my model?
Unfortunately, this only works with non-latent variables. However, the "LatentMediation" estimand works with latent variables.
@@Gaskination Thank you for your reply. I used it for my model. Surprisingly, it works. Thank you so much!!!
Dr Gaskin, I just have a question: the last time (a few months ago) I was trying to use this plugin, AMOS did something to your plugins which weren’t working. Is it resolved now? Can I use this plugin again? Thanks
We have been fixing the plugins recently. Most of them work now. I think the mediation plugin is still in the testing phase though. Here is the folder: drive.google.com/drive/folders/10Ac6O6YAOYPpQsakRvjyVw98Fegmgs5F?usp=sharing
@@Gaskination Thank you, I’ll try again.
Hello Dr. Gaskin, after executing the plugin the following error appeared: "The following error was encountered in the user-defined estimand, MyIndirectEffects.AmosEstimandVB. There is no parameter called 'A'". What could have gone wrong? Thank you very much!
Sounds like you're using the wrong estimand. There are two for mediation. Please use SpecificIndirectEffects_Path or LatentMediation estimand (depending on whether you have latent factors).
So I have completed my mediation analysis using the specific indirect effects tool (fantastic, thank you so much!) but do not know where to find the C.R. scores. A statistically significant indirect effect = t-value > 1.96, two-tailed, p < 0.05 but where do I find the t-value / C.R. using the plug in or generally in the output? Would really appreciate the input.
the C.R. or t-value can be calculated as the beta divided by the standard error. Since we don't report the standard error in this plugin, the critical ratio cannot be calculated. Sorry about that. As I'm redeveloping these plugins, I'll add a note to include that in the output. I suppose you could calculate a rough standard error from the confidence intervals (lower and upper). That should work...
@@Gaskination thank you for everything. I have passed my PhD viva a few weeks ago and frankly without your SEM course and the videos, and also the conversations via RUclips, I would have been lost! it's been such an amazing help. Thank you so much

Thank you so much for this great plugin. It really facilitates estimating specific indirect effects. One small thing that I encounter when running my model, however, is that several of the standardized estimates are exactly the same (e.g., all of them are .472**), especially when it comes to serial mediation of the effects on an IV through several Ms on a couple of DVs. Is this a problem? I am running the plugin correctly? (I need to mention that I am using AMOS 24 although I get the serial mediation results and the standardized estimates).
hmmm... This should not happen. You can check your results against this estimand (not a plugin): ruclips.net/video/KgtgQO9zQK0/видео.html This estimand will definitely give correct results.
@@Gaskination Thank you very much for your response. I used the new estimand, but it does not produce standardized estimates. The unstandardized estimates are the same across the plugin and the new estimand. However, the problem I encounter is with standardized estimates that are exactly the same in serial mediation relationships with the same IV and Ms but different DVs. Is there anything that I can do?
@@user-hq7cc7yg1f While that is surprising, it is not impossible. So, maybe this is just a coincidence... To check for sure, you can standardize all of your variables before entering them into AMOS, and then when you look at the unstandardized results, they will be effectively standardized.
@@Gaskination Thank you. I will do that.
Respected Sir, I have a question. Recently I have used this plugin for my research paper. Everything smooth file but the reviewer ask about the Standard error of these specific indirect effects. Sir how we can calculate the standard error of these specific indirect effects? could you help me Sir?
This plugin doesn't report standard error, but the standard error can be calculated from confidence intervals. The plugin does report 95% confidence intervals (lower and upper). You can google the formula for this.
Hi, is it it the estimate or the standardized estimate that we obtain in the output? Thank you.
it is both. see 3:45.
hello James could you please explain Phantom model in AMOS for calculating mediation ?
I've never heard of a phantom model. So, I'm not sure. Sorry about that.

That should only happen if there are no indirect paths in the model. If that is not the problem, then you might have to use the MyIndirectEffects estimand without any plugins.
hello dear Gaskin. hope you will be fine. thanks for the wonderful plug in. I just need to ask.one thing that it's similar to AxB estimand but with easy way to examine multiple parallel mediators

Secondly, thanks for the serial mediation plugin. The plugin that you provided in this video also worked for me for testing serial mediation. Just in case, I will try also this one (ruclips.net/video/-xzkjqKhWHE/видео.html) in order to control the results. Thanks a lot for everything.
@@cemilcanozden670 Sorry about the confusion. I occasionally rename things. The current names are this estimand: "SpecificIndirectEffects_Path.AmosEstimandVB" to be used with this plugin "Amos26-Indirect Effects.dll"
@@Gaskination Dear Gaskin,
Thanks for your explanation. By the way, I would like to share quick info which can help others. I have Amos 24 and "SpecificIndirectEffects_Path.AmosEstimandVB" works with the plugin "Indirecteffects.dll" for testing serial mediations. Also, the plugin "Amos26-Indirect Effects.dll" worked in Amos24, too. These two gave me the same results.
I followed the procedure but when I run indirect effect it gives me the error "The file IndirectEffects.dll contains syntax errors". Can you please advise what to do?

I downloaded that plugin for amos 26 version, but it's not showing on amos.

@@patriciabirungi5712 If experiencing errors, I recommend trying the MyIndirectEffects estimand to estimate the specific indirect effects one at a time, rather than using the plugin.

Hello sir! Thank you so much for such useful videos. After all the instructions followed from this video, the browser output appears blank with just the headings and notes. And also the Booststrap confidence interval does not appear for me in the bootrapping option in AMOS output. Would you be able to help me trouble shoot this issue by chance? Thank you in advance sir.

Hi Gaskin, Please help us with My indirect effects and My specific indirect effects plugins for version 23 or lower. Some of us in the third world are yet to have the latest AMOS software versions. Please. Thank you.
The estimand for indirect effects (not the one used with the plugin) should work for any version of AMOS that accepts user-defined estimands. If those are not available, then you'll have to calculate the indirect effects manually by multiplying the unstandardized estimates. However, this will just produce an unstandardized indirect effect. To create standardized indirect effects, you would need to first standardize your variables, then put them in AMOS. Then any standardized estimates in AMOS will be equivalent to standardized estimates. Hope this helps.
Hello sir. My model has one independent variables leading to there mediators and all the three mediators (parallel mediators) then lead to another mediator and finally this leads to dependent variable. I am unable to get the results by both specific indirect effect plug in or my indirect effects plug in. Kindly help
Sounds like you need serial mediation: ruclips.net/video/-xzkjqKhWHE/видео.html (or, if that doesn't work, then this one: ruclips.net/video/KgtgQO9zQK0/видео.html).
@@Gaskination thank you sir. When I tried with imputed values it worked. Could you please guide me on how to calculate imputed values of second order factor models. @@fodieebydefault Yes, the values will change a little like that. But they should not be drastically different. The difference comes from reducing the information, reducing degrees of freedom, and not accounting for measurement error. These are all known limitations of path analysis.

Thank you James for your prompt response! I referred to your link and it ended up running but when the browser opens, the table is empty, and only includes the titles and footnotes on "Significance of Estimates". Do you happen to know what I am missing for it to do this?
Sharare Afshar make sure your variable names do not include any underscores.
Thank you James!! I removed all underscores. Now it is telling me one of my observed variables is not an observed variable and should not be a rectangle, and also that AMOS cannot find my file. Not sure what I'm doing wrong since the model runs when I run it in the "not estimating any user-defined estimand" mode. Any advice you may be open to sharing is greatly appreciated.
@@sharareafshar9640 Make sure all boxes (observed variables) are also found in your linked dataset (with the exact same name). So, if there is a variable in your dataset with underscores, make sure to remove those as well (since you removed them in amos). They need to match.
Sir, I hope you are doing great. i have learn alot from your videos. But i am struggling with the way to show these results in paper. Can you quote some paper to follow? because here we can calculate direct and indirect effects at a time. but different papers show that they do it step wise. for example in this paper "Analysing mediating effects underlying the
relationships between P-O fit, P-J fit, and organisational commitment"
Here are several useful citations for mediation: statwiki.kolobkreations.com/index.php?title=References#Mediation

Thanks. I was using the latent model. Now it works
@@Gaskination Thank you Dr. Gaskin. If I examine the relationship among latent variables, what should I do? Use the mean value of each factor? Is it appropriate?

Thank you for reverting sir. Sir the values are changing say from 0.23(original model) to 0.38(imputed model). My model has first order as well as second order factors. To carry out imputation I simply drew a CFA model with first and second order factors(as you did in one of your videos). Then I imputed the values. Is this the right way to go for imputation.
Also sir since the beta and significance values are different in both models, kindly suggest, should I go for the imputed one or original model?

Respected Sir
I am writing a paper on mediation analysis in which I have 7 IDV 1 Mediating Variable and 1 DV. If I am conducting Mediation in Amos using Bootstrapping so should we run all the regression equation of (IDV> Med> DV)
Or seperately for each IDV.
As the direct result of IDV on DV in a multiple regression scenario is different from single regression.
Kindly suggest the suitable mode.
Or should we go for Mediation through Process.
Looking forward to hearing from you
I would recommend including all variables together. This will make the results more nomologically valid because you'll be controlling for the effects of other predictors.
@@Gaskination Thank you for your valuable input 😀
I recently started research work. so please clear my mind regarding if there is any difference between indirect effects and mediation (VAF) in smartPLs.
They are the same
So what about full and partial mediation..
And one more thing is it possible that correlation is positive and significant but coefficient is negative and insignificant and it possible then reason
Full if direct effect is non-significant. Partial if direct is significant. Definitely there can be a significant difference between the correlation coefficient and the regression coefficient. This is because the correlation is bivariate (excluding all confounding effects), while the regression accounts for potential confounds.
can you please explain confounding effect with an example? and based on your answer can i say my results are correct even correlation is positive.
Confounding effect is like when you say weight loss is caused by eating chocolate, but you don't control for important things like exercise or general health. Exercise and general health would confound the effects of eating chocolate. If you look at a correlation between eating chocolate and weight loss, the result will be very different than if you look at a regression that also takes into account the effects of exercise and general health.
Sir how about specific total effects?
That is a contradicting term. Specific refers to the isolated path from one predictor through one or more mediators to an outcome. Total refers to all direct and indirect paths from that predictor to that outcome.
Lower and upper at 90 or 95?
95 I believe

I have always used amos version less than 24. In 2017 I was able to use this My indirect effect Estimand and wrote my thesis using this plugin calculations. This month I have uninstalled Amos and reinstalled, trying to add this plugin now but not able to. Coz I am using less than version 24. How is this possible. Request Dr. Gaskin to pls clarify.
I am a great fan of you Dr. Gaskin. I have learned literally everything from you. Thank you
Unfortunately, this one only works for versions 24+. To do the same analysis, just not automated, you can use the estimand for indirect effects.
@@Gaskination Thank you Dr. Gaskin, now I realize this particular video is published in 2018, and I must have followed your mediation (indirect effect) videos prior to this. It was one of your videos where I had learned about mediation (A x B) and also how to add this estimand into Amos (Version less than 24). Would it be possible for you to send me the link, where you have explained about this. Thank you for clarifying.
Dr. Gaskin I have found that video, and now I am able to perform A X B indirect effect. Looks like the stat wiki page has been updated and "A XB estimand" under resources is no longer available. Make sure you're using the correct estimand. There are two. One is for use without the plugin, and one is for use with the plugin. Make sure to use the one with the plugin. Which one is which can be discovered on the plugins wiki page.
Hi Dr Gaskin, I have followed the exact procedure you have showed but the page appears blank (without any data). What might be the reason? Nevertheless, Thank you very much for such continuous effort to make our life easier.
FAHAD IBRAHIM it should only appear blank if you don’t have any indirect effects in your model. I also think it doesn’t work for latent models. If it is some other reason, I’m not sure what it could be. Sorry about that. Best of luck to you.

Sorry about that. Make sure your variable names do not have underscores in them. Also make sure you do not have latent factors in the model - it only works for path models. Hi Dr. Gaskin, pardon me I have a question...do u provide any plug-in for total and direct effects as well?
Based of Hayes and Preacher assumptions, it should not be interpreted as partial or full mediation. Instead if there is a significant indirect effect...we only interpret it as "mediation"?Am I right? As I have been confused...how to interpret the mediation results with Hayes and Preacher assumptions
Correct. There is mediation if the indirect effect is significant. I do not have a plugin for total and direct effect though.
