We never require the CVV number in fact it is a requirement to hide the CVV code otherwise the system will reject the verification. Traders are only supposed to show the first six and last four digits on the bank card (the middle ones should be hidden) along with the CVV code to be hidden. The card should be signed by the cardholder as well.
