Two weeks ago I mentioned the motor being too high because it was very obvious . This could be ...my mind is made up... don't confuse me with the facts. Yes it Chad's car but you could see it was going to create a problem. .
I watched Chad and now I’ve repaired my 57 Chevy truck doors. Cut out rust made patch panel, welded it in ground and sanded it down and in primer. Thanks pal
Strong Vinegar sponged on liberally will bring you the patina to your welds, and new metal. I started watching your channel a few month ago and I have watched a lot of build shows, and you have the best I've ever watched, and I thank you for that. Great show, and it's real.
I read all these comments and don’t understand why people don’t understand what’s happening on this channel. Chad loves building cars, he builds them for him, nobody else. Jolene is just giving everyone a chance to watch him build for himself. Everyone has different styles, method’s preferences etc.. when you watch take advantage of the info that will help with your own build, disregard the rest. As far as when he rambles, he’s talking to himself mostly, it’s called being a vocal thinker. I’m guilty of the same thing often. plus it seems to help keep him focused. Every video he approaches he does it like the person watching knows nothing and has never built anything. Which is definitely the way he should approach it. Chad says take what you want, leave the rest. I personally don’t understand why he doesn’t use a rolling work stool, or a bench, or a welding table, etc.. but what I learn about metal work is what matters to me. Everyone watching can make and upload a video at any time to show their way.. and if there is too much content you disagree with weather if it’s Chad’s content or another builder’s content then definitely take advantage of the option to make content in a way you think is correct. 💯
No planning causes these problems. All that work wasted on that drive tunnel. I know when i have a beautiful girl driving in my car with me, i dont like a snack bar or a bar top between us while im driving. 😮
Hey Team Hiltz, it's Friday! Chad the patch work is coming along nicely on the Dodge. You are making good progress on the car as well. Mr. Wizard Nate will figure out the radiator situation, I have faith in you to figure out the cooling! Jolene great work as always you are simply the best!
The way Chad keeps ignoring the poor engine placement, I'm realizing he's building "yard art" rather than something functional that other people would be intersted in owning/driving. Just like the new metal welded to rusty stuff he won't even sand down for a better weld. It won't be easy auctioning off his builds if something happens that they need money.
You could put the generator off to the side like a Chevrolet would have and it wouldn’t look out of place and you could leave the carburetor there but I would definitely drop the tail shaft down before you set the body back on. I go to shows all the time and I never see a motor sitting almost level. They’re tipped back for a reason. and since you care about looks, look at some of the ones with the open motor and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’m not the first person to notice this. But this is your car and your dream. I’m just trying to throw in my two cents, since I am a car nut myself!Keep up the good work, and entertain some of the comments. We’re not trying to be hateful but helpful.
The engine and transmission has to come down for safety if for no other reson. There should be no more of 3 degrees of angle is the most angle you can safely do.
Next dilemma is engine sitting so high is causing a bad driveshaft angle and the rear axle solid mounted on the axle is going to amplify the angle . U joints arent meant to run at them steep angles as you think they are . Also ford 8.8 rear axles ane not centered at pinion left side is 2 7/8 inches longer .
Chad and Nathan, this car is screaming all ready. Can’t wait to see it. Keep working and remember to have a little fun along the way. Best wishes. Thank you too Jolene. You are always greatly appreciated. Car is looking great.
Always love to watch you and Nate work. Chad, you have never failed because you kept on pushing forward. I haven't either because I raised an autistic and mainstreamed him. When you think you'll never see the end of the road its usually right there just waiting for that Car' to be put into motion. Good work from you, Nathan, Joelene and Doug. Love the show.
Watching from North Carolina if anyone can fix it Nathan can He’s definitely a wizard better keep him and Doug around good group of guys work out love watching Chad and the group work together
We all have ideas and probably many are a better choice but this is Chad’s call to be fair and it will always be okay in the end. When we are giving our put or even a firm opinion, for anyone to classify the comment as hateful and even quite critical are not all hatters. That is a cop out and it shows a weak sensitivity to other’s opinions no matter if ever used or tried. I do feel Jolene is a little over protective of her man in this regard . Most of us are car guys and this work isn’t new to us in our own shops, so realize not all are armchair critics and most of it is ONLY our opinion.
@@dral9657 fully agree he will do what he wants it's his car but on the other hand he's asking for comments and what we think 🤔 you can't have it both ways and he did admit the engine is to high but like I said it's his build, still looks great 👍.

Is there any reason that you don't just drop the engine a couple inches and adjust the trany-mount and engine mounts to reflect it? It seems like a simple fix while the body is off
@@bava67, yes, over and over, as if it is your mantra,, but most of you haven't been as self-righteous as this guy. Chad, thanks for the tips and tricks. I’m sure Nathan will figure out a way to make the radiator work. Who says you have to put the radiator in the front or even vertical. Who says the engine is to high, low, forward or back to far. Put the engine in the trunk if you want. With a 911 transaxle. It’s what you like. I like the tips and tricks that you have to offer. Thank you for passing along your knowledge. Thanks for the video Jolene.
Thats what happens when a person has no engineering knowledge,or skills, anyone can plunder ahead ,clueless, changing things done wrong, building dangerous autos, movie cars not meant to be driven, for looks, not meant to last
You do great work Chad. But I think the final product would look much better by lowering the engine and transmission even if you needed to modify the transmission tunnel in the car. It would be a lot of work. But you are up to it.
Great video today Jolene filming both individual projects. Spot welding good sheet metal to 90 year old body metal is quite a chore for Chad. Nathan will definitely work out the fan and radiator issue.
Please Chad lower the engine .. front to back and a lot of your problems will be solved.. no one positions an engine this way .. look how out of shape the drive shaft is ..

Loving this ratrod build. Seems like your critics are still expecting engineering marvels and automotive perfection from junkyard parts. Yours is a fit and fix process. If it dont fit, fix it, and keep fixing it 'till it does. After 40 years as a project manager, planning my work and working my plan, I still love watching your anarchic process. Engine too high? Who cares, it looks great. Driveshaft bent at the wrong angle? It will work. Safety issues? Its probably not gonna be a daily driver. Keep going Hiltz team, this is heaps of fun.👍👍👍
If you leave the engine that high and use the aluminum radiator, then there's a simple fix for the front piece. Just cut and add the inches needed to make it fit to the top of the rad. Using a different front piece won't look good. It's your car, but I get the feeling you didn't like the different front end either. Got the rest of the car looking good though.
lookin great now.. nathan is the greatest asset in the shop ,he can do anything, hes demonstrated this several times..do the impossible ?? just give nathan a few more minutes.
Correct me if I'm wrong but having the radiator low to the engine you're going to end up with cooling issues, the engine will be prone to overheating or at least running too hot.
About your dilemma. Instead of having the fan up high, mount the fan lower in front of the radiator. The fan could be on a bracket attached to the frame you fabricate and weld behind the radiator. Drive the relocated fan with a fan belt and pulley run off the crank or one of the water pumps. Old school solution and no electric water pumps.
Two weeks ago I mentioned the motor being too high because it was very obvious . This could be ...my mind is made up... don't confuse me with the facts. Yes it Chad's car but you could see it was going to create a problem.

like i said in the beginning,,that engine waaay to high that drive shaft will tear up the U joint
Can't imagine what the body roll is going to be with the engine mounted high like that. May not be fun going around corners at speed.
It's never going to be
Driven, like so many of his other projects!
My old buddy” Big Al“Humphrey would say… First, plan your work, then work your plan. Good advice to live by.
plan ahead or plan to fail
The motor and trans is is to high. It needs to be in the frame, not on it.

Got that right ✅️

The propshaft angle is way too high, you want to be within 4~6 degrees. The u joint will disintegrate and the remains of the prop could go anywhere.
