  • These are my 100 Favourite movies. That doesn’t mean to say that they’re the best 100. It just means they’re films that I’ve enjoyed over the years. Is it definitive? Probably not, because I’m bound to have forgotten to add some movies, but it’s good enough for me. If I add others, I’ll do an updated version later.

Wow, how long did it take you to put that together; that was awesomely done. Some of my favorites made it and some didn't. And as you said, some should be on there, if I could only remember what they were.

Oh wow! What can I say James that was an absolutely fantastic list of your 100 favourite films, and there’s plenty of mine in there too, especially Midnight Cowboy, Saving Private Ryan ( which incidentally I think it’s arguably one of the best war films of all time) but I gotta say I’m so glad one film which i remember seeing years ago is in there, and that’s The Englishman who went up a hill and came down a mountain, I absolutely loved that one, and for me one of Hugh Grant’s best films, but looking at the list there’s loads I like, especially Gone with the wind, Raiders of the lost ark, The Sting, When Harry met Sally, The Italian Job, and even your number 1 Field of dreams, which is definitely one of Kevin Costner’s best films, so that’s good we like that one, and also Back to the future, and that’s absolutely brilliant, thanks for doing another great video James, keep em’ coming! 😁👍

Pride & Prejudice (but that is more of series) /Titanic (an Actual Movie) 4. Love Actually 5. Bridget Jones Diary trilogy. I have several lists. 1. My jaw hit the floor when you said “Field of Dreams” was your #1, for two reasons, the first, it’s my favorite film too! Secondly, I didn’t think you knew anything about baseball 😅Not that you have to, to enjoy that film. Was surprised. This was fun. My wife watched it and she knew the majority of the old films and musicals. Not me. And you had her #1, Love Actually. A lot of fun, but I have to ask, no JAWS??? 🦈

Even a top 10 would be really hard.some movies I really love, though, are Jaws, Close encounters Of The Third Kind,Jurassic Park, A Christmas Story, The Muppets Christmas Carol, North By Northwest, The Alamo (John Wayne), It’s A Wonderful Life, Blazing Saddles, Caddyshack, Twister, the original Godzilla, A Silent Voice, Spaceballs, and a few others that are slipping my mind right now.

First film that really moved me was Dr Zhivago when I was only ten. I became really interested in Russian history/culture. Similarly, The Deer Hunter left me with some powerful images. Got to include ET and Cast Away. Ok ...... I have to mention The Way We Were. Maybe not the best film but it has Barbra Streisand, Robert Redford and the song. What's not to like? I agree, Cinema Paradiso is up there. Some great ideas in your list for my future viewing!

The Deer Hunter is obviously not for you! The war scenes are the ones that make a lasting impact. I had trouble with The English Patient, tried the film and book about 4 times and gave up. I think both won the Oscar for best film but sometimes they just don't grab the viewer. I found Le Chateau de Ma Mere dvd for a few pounds after you mentioned it in a previous video. Loved it and found a few other French/Italian films including La Gloire de Mon Pere. I think I should have lived in another gentler time. I forgot to include Local Hero in my fave films, simple, quirky and great music.

    1. The Riddle of the Sands (little known and too slow for most folks but I've loved it for 45 years)
    2. Shiawase no Pan (in English that's The Bread of Happiness, and it's wonderful)
    3. Ditto (the original year 2000 version and definitely not the remake)

There are only 4, (mostly early on) that I did not know, or at least know OF, and three are French, two intrigue me.
The much lesser-known "The Englishman That Went Up a Hill" and "Memento" are certainly on my list of favorites, along with others.
I don't know where to start on a shortlist. my tastes are fluid. I could easily do a 500 movie list, let alone 5. I could easily do 50 in each genre. Below are just the ones I have watched innumerable times that are not on your list.
In no particular order: All About Eve, The Original Star Wars, Rob Roy, Point of No Return, Inn of the Sixth Happiness... oh, so many, many, many more: Bedazzled, Gigi, John Carpenter's Vampires, Babette's Feast, The Secret of Roan Inish.

Most of the titles brought back the memories that surrounded my seeing them.
My Number One since 1968 is Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet which I watch at least once a year now that they have DVDs. By chasing it around to all the venues, including universities that showed it for years, I saw it 300 times by 1980 and the first VHS release had to be special ordered and was worth every penny ($89)...it was still x-rated.
And most of all thanks for 92 and 93, as they are in my top 5 and most people have never heard of them.
