Hayden is the man. Classic NZ'er. Actual sense of humour and not an over dramatic melt like Sam Long etc.

Sam is just sensitive. He's a cool guy but dude isn't on the level of Hayden Wilde. Short course dudes are better triathletes period. Dude would wreck the field in PTO / IM if he wanted to convert.
Love it. This is BLOWING away Ironman coverage and even better it seems PTO cares about the athletes - and they pay great!
I really wish PTO would put on a race during Ironman Kona week so we can watch the Pros abandon Ironman's most prestigious race.

I’d like to see a robust PTO as well as a stacked Kona and 70.3 worlds.
If the PTO keeps paying as well as they do who knows how many top pros will stay with them though.
Worst would be to have two split organizations so we never get the best against the best.
Challenge Daytona 2020 was better than the majority of Kona WTC I’ve ever seen. Ironman has 1 thing going for it: the brand name. They are taking it for granted….but it seems they can keep doing this for several years before it really starts hitting them where it hurts. I hope that happens.
Ironman is awful and has been for a long time. Collins Cup even attracting Hayden Wilde man. Dude's not even done long distance tri and isn't PTO ranked but will get paid more for this than winning an ITU event or regular IM. Just need Alex Yee to hop over now.

Love the behind the scenes. These are all very competitive and highly motivated athletes at this level and their "trash talk" shows. Can't wait to see who brings the heart and results on the day and who has to eat their words.
These videos are so excellent. I was dying laughing with the intense music and Wilde on the obstacle course. Need more of that

Laidlow’s little poem (11:50) was pretty out of line, never heard Sam Long make fun of peoples appearance (saying he’s cross eyed), what they choose to wear, etc… there’s a difference in being confident in yourself and what you can do (which is what I feel Sam Long does), and being an outright bully.
Cam Wurf then bullied Frodeno when he said he was a giant sausage, all Norwegians were bullied when people made fun about their olympic race apparel. Blummenfelt was bullied by Gustav for making fun of his big chest and having a 3rd lung. Sanders is bullied because people make fun of his missing tooth and his terrible running style. If everyone was so sensitive about everything there wouldn't be much fun. I agree though, that the cross eyed part is over the line for me as well.
Yeah, performance based trash talk or hyping yourself is playful, laidlow went for cringy personal insults that sounded bitchy and jealous. If this was football he would get headbutted

@@swimgood3873 There is but it is highly subjective. In a court setting there should be an objective line. Frodeno might have felt bullied by being called a giant German sausage eventhough people commenting here might see it as a friendly banter.
I root for the European team, but in reality I root for the sport of triathlon like all of us. Huge respect to all this man and women but I feel that some of them are taking the trolling too far, it's almost bullying. Specially since they seem to target only Sam Long. It's not a good example for the young generation of triathletes coming into the sport and kids watching their idol being insulted. The "I just don't like his face" from Sam Laidlow was pretty bad and unnecessary, if you don't like the guy no need to disrespect him, please let's not become football and keep the sport healthy. A bit of Norwegia vs Lionel and Sam back and forth trolling made for some fun racing last year but let's not go pass that and ruin it. Full gas Saturday guys
Yeah, Sam Laidlow needs to grow up. Unfortunately Sam Long is taking the bait and letting him get into his head instead of ignoring it and letting it die.
@@leighthomas8576 yeah that’s true. He tried to play along for a bit but this is too much. I think that we shouldn’t blame the person being bullied, Sam long in this case. we don’t know what repercussions this will have on his career, he still very young and this can hurt mentally. This situation is taking the fun out of the whole thing in my opinion. We need to bring Jan Frodeno in to give a serious pep talk to Laidlow about how to be professional and troll in style, NEVER disrespect that’s not what triathlon is about.

For me, the only thing that was unprofessional towards Long was the "I just don't like his face" comment. I think the rest was fine and it made their matchup really interesting.

Magnus had the same want that I did with him, Lionel and Sam. Point wise may not of been great but visually the whole thing would have been entertaining
Great video, Talbot! I love all the athletes and the behind the scenes! That said, I'm kinda disappointed in the direct bullying and making fun of other athletes. I understand that it's creating content but it seems like it could be done in a more positive way. I've been following all of these athletes for years and I find Sam Laidlow entertaining but they are all losing my respect in the long run with all this. The true champion's that I love to watch are the ones that always respect each other and uphold their integrity. I get it..this is for fun and maybe Sam Long had it coming for him but yeah, just my opinion. I just think if and when someone like Sam Laidlow wins Kona in the future, I will think less of him. I don't think we'd see Jan or Patrick or Daniela doing this.
I had similar thoughts but came to concussion that it's ok when athletes do it for fun. The bad thing is that some fans take it wrong way and turn it into f.e. hate mail Sam Long mentioned. They make fun out of athletes who are a threat, even if they don't admit it openly.

Yea, I think it can be done around the sport, etc. I just started to feel like the personal attacks were not necessary and made the people saying them seem less classy. I just think some of these professional athletes are so classy and I really admire them.

With all respect to PTO and but these athletes are far from behaving like "professionals". Everyone seem to be picking on one person which is bullying at its best. Yet, here seems to be celebrated. No one here or the athletes themselves know how this content and the ongoing bullying is affecting this person mentally. Please stop and let's all focus on the sport

A comment to some/many of these athletes appearing at the Collins Cup.
I love that you are all so competitive however I would suggest that some of you need to consider that you are acting like teenage bullies. When a large number of people direct so many demeaning comments towards one person, even when you play it off as just a bit of fun, it is not fun. It is bullying. It is a poor message that is coming out of a lot of these videos and not setting a good example for anyone watching. Please stop this.

I agree and am feeling disappointed. The majority of these athletes are so classy and would never directly attack a competitor with words, even in jest. I cannot imagine Jan, Patrick, Lionel, Magnus, Hoff, TO, Daniela, Kat, Anne, Lucy, Lionel, or any of the women honestly, doing this and it just makes me sad they think this is how they need to go about smack talking. The teams can discuss tactics and game day talk but the line should be drawn at personal attacks. I’m thinking maybe these athletes are young and not understanding their professional roles. I can’t imagine cheering for them winning Kona knowing that they acted this way on the journey to get there.

Sam Long is in a lose, lose situation here. Racing a distance that suits strong swimmers. If Laidlow beats him all the smack talk was right, but even if he wins there's no glory in beating an up and comer.

I’m loving all the content… except this. A lot of childish bullying. There is smack talking and then there is being unnecessary. Taking the piss out of how someone looks, or chooses to dress is a dick move. Everyone sitting in a circle ragging on one person… it’s starting to put a stain on the Colin’s cup for me. And I’m a fan, imagine what a non-triathlete lover would be thinking watching this?

Sam Laidlow ruined team Europe for me so I wasn't rooting for them. Would rather have had Team Int win but oh well. Hopefully Joe Skipper can replace Sam Laidlow next year.
