Are the Jamaican black Maroons now moors...? I notice the fez on the new Chief...they need to educate Jamaicans on the Maroons because it’s like every other day there’s something new/their evolving.

Maroons are Moors. That is what so-called black people were known as before their nationality was stripped.

@@S.Anderson-Bey that’s generalizing because the word is similar ...Maroons or the term have nothing to do with the called moors...black people as a race aren’t moors is a term to denote some black Islam ppl that claim and associate with the vague/ambiguous & multiracial term especial during the reign of the moors in Europe ie Spain etc. Maroons Of Jamaica were runaways like some of the Taino native peoples of Jamaica(also other islands in Caribbean in the America’s ) that fled into the mountains to avoid slavery. Black African Maroons aren’t native to Jamaica. If the Maroon Chief adopted or converted to Islam and being a moor or joined a moor organization/chapter he should state that opening verses adorning himself with fez hat and confusing the Jamaican populace who differ from the treaty Maroons of Trelawny parish Jamaica aka runaway Slave catchers.

@@BLACKSTARMOVEMENTS It appears you’re fixed on your ideas and looking to debate. I do not desire to convince you what you believe is wrong or appear intellectually superior. The Chief is wearing the fez because he knows who are his forefather. Peace and Love 🇺🇸🇲🇦

What? Did u know that some of the slaves that became Maroon Indians that were brought to Jamaica were Moors. They were Muslim until they were forced to convert to Christianity under Spanish rule.
