  • Welcome to my daily vlogs! TRAVEL. FOOD. COMEDY. SINGING. PETS. LIFE.
I upload a new video every day at 7AM EST!
    Vlog edited by Jeah Yason
    For business inquiries: mikeyjbustos@gmail.com
    About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first RUclips channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!

This vlog is a 10 out of 10!
It's so awesome to see that female bond with you, she seems to really know you're a "good guy" that has good snacks. It's actually really cool to see the bird perched on your shoulder again, somehow it completes the picture. And, taking this time to do it gradually seems to be paying off hugely.
It's kind of funny to watch you, Mikey with all this. That makes this all the more enjoyable, you're doing really well.
Finally, even when the vlogs are "long", the time "flies" (no pun intended) and it's really awesome! The vlogs go in a cycle, lots of bird vlogs then, we change to a home vlog, then we travel a bit... it's what these vlogs are famous for so... it's great!!
Ya'll stay safe and healthy! I'll see 'ya next time.

@@jelbertdalagan7054 the way you explained your idea was what is wrong. You can encourage him to make a positive change, but don't do it by telling him what he chose to do "is wrong". Be kind when sharing your idea and explain WHY your idea would be better for the birds. Without educating him why it is better, it comes off very rude.

For us here in Quezon City, we thankfully survived this Super Typhoon other than the fact that the trees were blowing hard without any blackout. Unfortunately, for my Tito Leslie, he's stranded in Papaya all alone due to the Typhoon in Nueva Ecija placed under Signal No. 5, and was more of an unfortunate situation as the lights in my Lolo's house went out, but worse than that is that the wind literally blew the roof of the house in there resulting in a lot of water gushing into the house all night. Also, there was a lot of debris scattered the next day which almost looked like a hurricane; luckily, he's a tough guy who withstood it, and help is coming for him; particularly, since his clothes got soaked by the rain. Thank God! Also Mikey, sorry about some of your plants being destroyed by your birds, but then, that's what we do have to expect sometimes as we said before when getting birds. But to cheer you up and stay positive, we all know that at least, it's not really major damage, so it's not too bad at least.

Can you add some "play rope" to your aviary? The kind that have seed and blocks and such on the rope for birds to play with and chew and such so they have inrichment. You can have them strung up throughout the aviary so maybe the birds will leave your plants alone. If that makes sense.

Maybe hang some big perches at the highest level so they have something besides ungraspable glass on their way back down if they go up super high or above the tree?

I think you should try giving your birds as many perching spots lower to the ground, as you can, especially if you're just starting the flight training. If they somehow land on the ground, lower places will be easier for them to climb on to and give them security for the time they learn how to swiftly fly around the aviary. And the rope coming from the cage to the lower branches of the tree is a great idea! I'm sure if not these parrots, your conures will love balancing and hanging upside down on it 😁

So enjoying watching the birds figure out how to maneuver in their larger world. You can make the click sound by flicking your tongue on the roof of your mouth. I learned to make the click sound without needing the physical clicker when I clicker trained my horse…..my dog and cat got used to it as well….freed up my hand that needed to click. Took a little while to get it…but once I did….I just needed to be sure to adjust my volume for my environment (ie. outside in the wind I ‘click’ louder). Also great for being able to click any time anywhere. ❤ your birds are so keen to learn…yellowback female leading the way!🦜👍🏽

I was really hoping the other female bird would get out of her cage and fly with her buddies but time will tell when she’s confident and ready 😊 Also, maybe put more (standing) perches (maybe a small one before the cage door for easier enter/exit for the other female and also perched in other planters so the birds can land and explore more areas) and more toys like what you plan to do, please! I’d cry if the birds destroy all the plants 😅 I know they eventually will but the toys will be a great distraction and are meant to be destroyed.

Stop apologizing for the long vlogs, I'm greatly enjoying them. It's great to see something different on the channel. And if you're getting more views, that means that more people are liking the vlogs as they are happening.
Great to see the Napes becoming more confident in coming out and exploring. I'm kind of wondering that if you let out the Conures if the Napes would learn from them quicker, especially the 1 Nape that's still uneasy coming out of the cage? The Conures could also possibly inspire the Napes to become more confident I think.
I'm so happy that you and RJ are finally actually living in the house, and that you've had your first visitors from here in Toronto. The house is looking great with the furniture. I really like the coffee table with the nest looking wooden structure on the table top. And the bed in the Seniors Room is beautiful, I really like that. Keep a bowl next to you or get a fanny pack to keep the treats in when you are training, it makes things easier. None of your ferns will live once the birds are all out. None. Most of the plants in there won't. Once they are out and about you should be sure to have lots of toys for them hanging around so they may pick those over the leaves of the plants. They will still probably destroy them but they will need stimulation, even if it isn't the prettiest thing for you to look at. Toys for sure are going to be needed up higher if you want to see them up there for any length of time. But seriously... kiss your plants and anything else they can get their beaks on goodbye.
I know you have people who you talk to about the birds but I guarantee you they are more likely to come out and explore if you weren't in there.
I have never heard of anyone who doesn't give their birds fruits. Just need to be sure not to give them apple seeds.

Mikey, you need a stool sample from her! Feather condition is #1 indicator for health issues! Cotton swab and zip loc bag. Try to watch after a feed how long it takes but usually about a half hour. You must catch her in the act so you can be sure it is her sample you are collecting! Call your local bird vet, they will tell you what lab to send it to. Must be done! She could have a parasite…. Early intervention can save her!

They probably can learn a thing or two about avoiding the spirals by observing the conures too. The conures will likely steer clear of them and are also not big enough to inhibit or intimidate them.

Wow, my dream aviary! How about putting one way glass film over the windows so you can see in but they can’t see out. Apart from being a solid barrier to stop their confusion, it might help them feel less exposed and more secure to explore an enclosed space. Wonder if that would work?

    Good job bird training!
You can try putting the clicker on the hand that will catch the bird. Two finger perch, with clicker held using your thumb, pinky and ring finger. Thumb will also be ready to click. Timing is very important.
Other hand will also be free to hold the target stick and the treat. Click, good bird, and treat, all in a few seconds.
Or you can tie/glue your target stick to your clicker.
Try watching birdtricks on youtube. So much info over there, if you havent been watching their clips already...
Long time fan and lurker. Hope to see more of your bird videos. Cant wait for the conures to be out in the aviary too!

you should set a standing bar in the middle of the aviary for them to land and familiar with it.

SO sorry to post so much... but ONE more idea to help reduce the plant damage. Perhaps if you add a play stand made of branches that they can destroy more easily... and closer to their cages.... along with toys... they will do that more than chewing on it than the live tree. It's worth a try and they need a play stand anyway. It will make it easier when interacting with them.

@Mikey Bustos Vlogs .... Yayyyyyy about what you said about Jamie & Dave... I hadn't seen where you had already replied and I thought... "Dang, I shouldn't talk so much about BirdTricks. I don't want to be annoying!" so I took it down and posted this about the play stand instead... but then I saw your response in my notifications. I'm very happy to wait and see what happens. The 2 blue napes seem to be becoming so much more confident. I wonder what they will think when they see the conures out of their cage while they have to stay inside at first. 🙂

Hey Mikey, I'm a bit concerned about your parrot hitting the glass wall, if you can visit "Murillo Brothers" channel how their african grey got killed when it hit the glass door from a flight, I think that maybe you guys could put something like a cover up to the glass wall, like a net or mesh something, the birds thinks they can fly through because it's transparent, I've been watching your vlogs about the aviary and I too is excited to see your birds fly out, just make it safer to avoid accident 😉👍

Is there some sort of drainage system for the retractable roof? Where does the water go that collects on top? Or is it level with the main roof so it uses the roofs drainage systems/gutters?

It must be awesome to watch your birds fly in this beautiful aviary! Enjoy it while they haven't shredded all the plants haha. I think your training would improve a lot by giving them names and by using consistent commands.
