I think one of the most important things as a parent is to LISTEN to our children. This mother did exactly that and created that bubble of protection for her daughter so she could thrive. I wish EVERY parent of a Trans child would do the same.

Your transgender child IS the same beautiful, loving wonderful child no matter who they choose to be. Took me a while to figure that out. My boy is the same loving, caring weirdo that I know and love! Open your minds. You dont have to like it, be like it but trust your child and love them for them! Thank you trevor project, you are helping me in so many ways!

This is a really heartwarming story. Blessings to Rebekah and Jamie! I love Rebekah’s ‘Born a Unicorn” shirt! I bought a pro-trans item from a Target cashier named Unicorn. I shop at Attic Salt and I make donations to The Trevor Project.

I think it's also clear that this girl is not transgender if you look at her features and especially at the younger photos of her. In the older photos she clearly exhibits traits of undergoing the early stages of puberty and is at the very latest 17 (likely younger). These are important things because this girl has clearly undergone female puberty but a child can only undergo cross hormone therapy beginning at age 16. So said teen would very much still carry the voice of a male child and only very lightly start to carry a female voice as they'd essentially be starting puberty at age 16. But this is if they took puberty blockers when they were very young. If they only did so when they were older they'd have already gone through many stages of male puberty and such things would be fairly obvious to see as the person in question would look like a pubescent boy. Given that this girl carries absolutely none of these traits, I can see that unless someone violated very basic ethics as a doctor when they were under the age of 10, this is a normal girl. She is cisgender and has not undergone any of these processes.

@@buddermonger2000 Puberty blockers can be administered to AMAB children as earlier as age 11, halting the development of heavy pubescent, masculine features. In Rebekah's younger photos (maybe taken as early as age 8 when she started), she doesn't truly have enough female features to outright make your assumption. All of her light masculine traits could have easily been covered up by some simple feminization via changes in hairstyle, clothes, and some makeup. As for her heavy feminine features as of late, the Endocrine Society in fact only *suggests* that cross-hormonal therapy be administered to children at age 16+, doctors can begin as early as age 13. These puberty blockers halting the development of any heavy masculine features from age 11+ combined with cross-hormonal therapy at age 13 would act off of a "clean slate" you could say, beginning and accelerating the development of heavy feminine features in Rebekah. In addition, I haven't even mentioned the possibility of any minor like Rebekah receiving gender-affirmation surgery, as this isn't prohibited by any law. So no, you cannot make this assumption, Rebekah can very easily be, and I believe is, a transgender woman, and an amazing one deserving of kindness and understanding with that.

Your attempt to adhere to Joseph Goebbels advice that “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it people will believe it” is just as reprehensible now using it to refer to LGBTQ people as it was when he was referring to Nazis.

I completely understand that, I would love to tell you to just live your truth, but I also know that doing that could also expose you to all sorts of potential trauma and harm, both mental and physical. With that said, knowing my experiences and current situation, being a straight passing gay man who is also probably nonbinary to some extent, living in the Midwest and having recently turned 30, I wish I would have started living my truth more aggressively, earlier. Like I started coming out to people at 17, but I still haven’t even told one of my siblings, I just feel like whatever backlash and negativity I would’ve got is still probably better than dealing with all the regrets and baggage and undoing all the terrible coping mechanisms I’ve built up over the years. All I can say is do what feels right for you and I’m proud of no matter what you decide.

@@pharaoh7424 Your multiple comments claiming transgender people “do not exist” would be laughable if they weren’t so cruel, abusive and inhumane.
You clearly need to familiarize yourself with RUclips’s Hateful Conduct Policy (that you have repeatedly and indisputably violated). Evil abusive actions that harm any marginalized minority are ALWAYS rightfully subject to consequences.
Educate yourself before harming one more person with your indefensible words and actions. Hate has NO PLACE on this platform (or anywhere in society) in 2022!

@@pharaoh7424 Ignorance, hatred and bigotry are not admirable human traits. You are vastly outnumbered by educated, decent, compassionate people. There are plenty of resources available to educate yourself. It would behoove you to do so before one more person is harmed by your reprehensible abuse.

@Lol People who harass, bully and discriminate against ANYONE because of who they are deserve to be called out for their hatred and bigotry - as the overwhelming majority of Americans and ALL decent compassionate people demonstrate by their words and actions.
No matter how much you yearn for the “good old days” when only “normal” straight and cis people were entitled to dignity, respect and all human rights that is a shameful era in history that is NEVER coming back.
An uneducated anti-LGBTQ who is too cowardly, ashamed and paranoid to show their real name like any decent person with nothing to hide. Gee, I wonder why.
Thankfully these “anonymous” bigots who derive sick inane pleasure out of harming other members of society who are part of a marginalized minority are VASTLY outnumbered - and always will be. Go cry some more, Mr. “anonymous”.
