JB we all know you love your Alfas and yes ‘beauty is in the eyes of the beholder’ but with their reliability and running cost records, you gotta bury them man!….bury them deep 😢

I have never owned one so can't talk from my own experience, but my big brother had the 147 GTA and the only thing that went wrong was the airbag light on the dash, which was quickly fixed as the culprit was the connection under the seat... Alfas have come a long way... A lot of people rave about German cars, and before I owned a few I also believed all the hype... Except their built quality isn't better than other car brands and of all my cars (got 4) the most reliable is the old trusted and gorgeous 406 coupe 3L V6 petrol. That car is solid and dead reliable... The doggy car (Vauxhall Vectra estate 1.9 cdti 150 was mega cheap to buy, but gave me various issues, luckily the parts are cheap and now at 127k on the clock is the best it's ever been), and the two German cars (BMW Z4 e85 3l has had a few issues, which I fixed myself, but issues I have never seen on any of my cars in 27 years of driving and car ownership 🥴). The other German car (997.1 c2s)... So far so good, so difficult to tell really, and it's been very well maintained by its previous owner - my best mate, who did spent a fortune in parts though during his ownership - which I am now benefiting from😂👌).
My experience is probably going to surprise a few but the most reliable engines I've had over the years were French... (Renault and Peugeot, but the engines I had were known for their durability and reliability)... So, all car manufacturers can make some great cars, and all can make troublesome ones...

@@velcingilles3756 on my own personal experience the only cars that live up to there reputation is Honda and Toyota. They just don't break at all ever. No matter how much you abuse them so long as you poor in a pint of oil every 1000 miles or so you can just keep abusing.
Everything else is kind of equally shit . You could get a good one you could get a bad one . But honda and Toyota only make good ones .

Agreed, the Alfa V6 Busso engine is absolutely fantastic! My big brother had the 147 GTA manual transmission and it really was fabulous. I regret not buying one when these were at the bottom end (price wise), but... They like to drink petrol👀😳😂😂😂

The 147’s V6 is a proper Alfa Romeo (Busso) V6 but the Brera V6 is a GM derived, more modern engine.

The audi 3.0T [supercharged] in the b8/8.5 s4/5 is a fucking gem of an engine, pretty sure they put it in the a6, a7, q7, the sq5 and i think the sq3 got it aswell, maybe a couple other models too. the porsche macan, cayenne, and panamera and vw toureg also uses more or less the same engine, all from 2009/2010 onwards)...simple remap and it walks rs4's and still manages 30+mpg on a run..development still very much ongoing on these engines too. Could very possibly end up being 1 of THE best v6 lumps ever made.

A customer of ours has a brera prodrive, but it's a really limited version , S? 1 of less than 500 I think? And they suffer with the dashboards cracking as they're special leather stitched ones only on the prodrives, just cost him an absolute fortune to get fixed, whole dash needs to come out and be reupholstered, look out for it if you're going to buy one it's really common apparently! Beautiful car though, I've always wanted a diesel one for commuting but they're like hens teeth

If I'm correct the Noble M12 had a Ford Duratec 3.0 V6 with twin turbos. It was an excellent set up and made varying power outputs depending on the map. Circa 350-425 bhp. I'm sure somebody's turbo'd the ST 220.

I feel like any video request I made would be a guaranteed way not to get views 😄 Top 10 weirdest cars for £10k would be great, but probably not for enough people to justify making it...
On a more important note: L10 GS450h!! All I'm going to say about it is this: I love many cars, but a post-facelift L10 GS450h Premier is still the only thing I've looked for on Autotrader in the last 2 months.
Who makes the best V6? Could be Toyota with their 2GR - in the GS it's insanely effective, but in an IS350 or Evora it sounds incredible too. Plus, lovely response and faultless reliability on top. The Alfa 690T (Giulia QV) is great except the fuel consumption, even with cylinder deactivation, is hilarious - which matters because it's half the reason I didn't buy a Giulia QV, along with Alfa dealers in the UK being almost as awful as they are nonexistent. 3rd option for me is the Dino V6, but I've never driven one. The Busso sounds great, so top 5 purely for that, but it never did much more than sound good to be honest - inefficient, unreliable and never made much power in NA guise.

FWIW: The Brera V6 was never offered with the Busso V6 but rather the Holden-derived JTS V6 ! However, the 147 GTA does have the Alfa V6, ie, the Busso.
