Would it possible to invent a ventilation machine that simultaneously supports multiple patients? Possible solution to the urgent need of the machines for COVID-19?
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a method to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Camilo Ramon I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hello, just wanted to say thanks for putting up this educational content. I'm a 4th year Harvard Med Student going into anesthesia and doing a SICU rotation this month. These vids have been really helpful. Also, the message at the end of the goals of care about treating the person with kindness - that they are human beings just like us at to never forget that. That is priceless, thank you for saying that as it is easy to become complacent when it comes to bedside manner given the stressful/burnt out training that medicine is known for.
Awesome and congrats to you! Huge accomplishment and I wish you all the best. And yeah, I agree its easy to get lost in the "work" and to forget about why we do what we do. We've all been there and a little reminder always helps :)
I’m a fresh grads who currently working in ICU. No working experience in ICU and everything down there are completely new to me. Glad that I’ve found ur channel when I’m completely lost! So touched by the last words u gave in this video. “Remember the basics of human kindness. They place their lives on ur hands.” I could vividly remember there’s a day when my patient suddenly turned ill and all the HCP were doing their best for him. Although he didn’t know what we’ve done, but he know we were trying to save him. The day when he finally get better, he suddenly hold my hands, without saying any words, just a simple gesture and emotion from his face, I sense the appreciation. But unfortunately he couldn’t make it till the end. I hope he remember how hard he affected me as a ICU newbies, and hope he’s now well up there.❤️
Thank you so much for sharing that story. At times this job can be incredibly difficult, but its those moments that make you realize what an incredibly impact that you can have on peoples lives, even if its one of the last things that they get the experience. I'm sorry that you had to go through that, but I'm also glad that you got to see the amazing impact that you had on this person in their final days, and that means so much in this world! Take care of yourself and glad that you've been helped by these videos in some way!
Thanks for these useful information. I’m a mechanical engineering student from Indian Institute of Technology. I am planning to make a better design for the ventilator(currently absorbing all information from everywhere😅). I wish to contribute to society with the knowledge I get and going to get. Given the current condition, there really is a need for a cheaper, easier to operate and more accurate control design. Thanks again 👍. This video has given me so much info😁.
Thanks for reminding us about respecting the patient as a human. Sometimes we might get super focused on the monitor, machines and alarms and we forget about the patient.
4th Year BSN student from khyber Medical university peshawar, pakistan.your lectures helped me alot while preparing for final exam.thanks alot, stay blessed.
Love that powerful message at the end! I always try to talk to my intubated and sedated pts, because I know hearing is the last sense to go... and I feel as though if I was in their shoes, I'd like someone to talk to me as well, and to know what is being done to me. Even though at times I feel like I am yelling through my double masks, face shield, and over the loud rumblings of the air filter we have in the rooms. Although to be completely honest, sometimes I'm also too rushed or exhausted and I'd stop talking... But there are definitely many ways of caring for someone with dignity, from the way you touch them, clean them, position them, etc. Thanks again Eddie for reminding us that what we do is an honor that shouldn't be taken lightly!
Thanks Katelyn. It does help from time to time to stop and put things in to perspective. It's easy to get lost in the tasks and the things we have to do and easy to lose sight of the fact that it is another human being laying there, probably not much different from you are I. I 100% agree though that we don't always have to be talking to them. But I feel strongly that it does matter. Same with tone and things. All that I think gets through and makes a difference, along with all of the other things you mentioned. We have many things in our control which can really matter for them, whether we truly realize it or not.
Congrats on the new job Jacob! You will have a great time in CVICU. I really enjoyed it. Best of luck to you and glad you are finding the videos here helpful.
Thank you for this video. I recently lost my oldest child & only son at 18 in a tragic car accident. Trying to make sense of it all. Your video explained more than Dr's did, & for that I'm grateful. Sad world today where we have to go to RUclips for things like this but you should know that as odd as it sounds, your video is helping people I'm sure I'm not the only one. So thank you for your calm, direct & surprisingly pleasent voice & information!
Your channel has been crucial help, thanks for these comprehensive and easy-to-pick-up lessons, for they have been extremely helpful in guiding my studies!
I studied so hard for my ICU exam but still failed n now i’m studying even more or culturing myself more abt it bc it really killes me when i don’t know why i’m failing even tho i’m trying hard knowing its a human life can’t mess around
I've done 4 things to greatly improve my lung function and overall wellness. My sleep, energy, and life outlook are greatly improved: 1. I started using the BreatheEasy Lung Exerciser about 5 years ago and still use it, 2. I stopped mouth breathing unless absolutely necessary, even when exercising, 3. I did light mouth taping at night in order to ensure nose breathing all night, 4. I do an simple exercise to reset my CO2 levels for triggering breathing so I don't breathe so much. See Patrick McKeown's work for more about this.
Hi, would like to ask, how does patient exhale when they are on ventilator? Does the Machine draws the air out by applying negative pressure (sucking) ? Or does the patient breathes out on its own? Sorry I still couldn’t understand this part
Great idea! I’ll add that to the todo list. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know that you enjoy the videos and the suggestion as well! 😊
Is there ever a point where a ventilator will stop working and not be able to keep the lungs breathing and heart circulating blood? Or is there always a weaning process?
I m here because right now india we r on turf of covod 19 bomb,so country like this much population can't have enough ventilators to treat the patients so I wanted to know about the working of mechanical ventilation.incase of alternative s
Yes. A ventilator is one of, and probably the most common form of life support. Essentially any machine or device that is sustaining life in someone and without it would probably mean the patient would die would be classified as this. And so we have a few different things that could and would fall in this category.

@Camilo Ramon It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account !
I appreciate that last bit at the end about a patient being another human being because we sometimes forget that.
It always helps to try and humanize and remember why it is that we do what we do!

Yes! It's very easy to get lost in the technology and care and to forget these are living people in our beds. Glad to share the reminder. 😊

Is there ever a point where a ventilator will stop working and not be able to keep the lungs breathing and heart circulating blood? Or is there always a weaning process?
Definitely not always a way off. The vent doesn't help blood circulate though. Only to provide respiratory support for the lungs.
What's CHG in the part for preventing VAP?
Great question. Chlorhexidine gluconate. 😊
I m here because right now india we r on turf of covod 19 bomb,so country like this much population can't have enough ventilators to treat the patients so I wanted to know about the working of mechanical ventilation.incase of alternative s
You all are in my thoughts. Godspeed!
I am watching it from India for the same reason dm.
My husband had this performed he died

ICU Advantage so is dialysis also a form of life support when blood needs circulation?

My wife's dad just got put on one of these, im hear to understand what it means. Thanks
This sound not good....
The ventilators going to kill him
@@carsonshift1571 why in THE WORLD would you tell someone this?! Smh
@@reeree2594 cause the ventilator is bad for you and kills you if you have covid
Too complicated for an average person. One would need to have medical training
Yeah sorry, this channel and videos are designed with the nurse or healthcare worker in mind.
At this corona virus time I'm here that why every country leaders speaks about this including modi and trump
Trump isn’t really a leader. A president, but not a leader.
Leaders all over the world are dealing with this.
Pls be short precise and on the point. Do consider layman while explanation
In all honesty, these videos were designed with the healthcare practitioner in mind, and hence using terminology that would be familiar to them.
chance of survival with this machine?
Too many factors weigh in to that question.
Sorry. U dont explain well enough for my pea brain
Sorry to hear this.
Thank you for this information
