    Steven - Thanks for the great detailed videos! Just bought a Boxster that needs some TLC. I was able to replace the window regulator with ease watching your video. I took off the soft top last night and will embark on putting the replacement top on this week. I was skeptical of doing this myself until watching your video! Thanks again from a Texan living in Wisconsin!! Ciao

    Amazing video..not many people go into so much detail with a job like this..I like the fact you repaired that plastic ridge piece and did it properly which all takes lots of time and effort..good job Steve.

    Thank you, Steven, for creating this outstanding video. I replaced the top on my Boxster following this video, and I'm currently replacing the top on my son's Boxster. I don't think I could have done it without this video - the written instructions from the top supplier do not make much sense.
    The step at about minute 5:00 in the video where the cord (with fabric sewn around a plastic cord) goes into the vertical metal slot is difficult, I struggled with this the first three times, then the fourth time went much easier using these steps: 1) The plastic cord sticks out at each end of the fabric, that cord on the leading edge tends to come out of the open areas of the slot, then jams. Push the plastic cord back until it's flush with the fabric on the leading side; let the extra cord hang out the back end. The fabric helps keep the plastic cord from slipping out of the groove. 2) The fabric is not stitched tight against the cord all the way to the end, this can cause the fabric to flare out in the open areas of the slot and also jam. Apply a little bit of superglue at the fabric end, clamp the fabric together and let it cure. This keeps the fabric tight against the cord while sliding into the slot. 3) Apply a little vaseline in the slot, especially each location where the open areas close back together, and on the fabric that slides into the slot. 4) Don't tug hard on the top fabric below the cord, that can tear the cord flap where it is sewn to the top. Instead, hold the top with your entire hand where the cord flap is sewn to spread the load when you tug on it. Don't tug hard in any case; if it's stuck, back up a little and try again. 5) Check that the entire length of the cord is straight while sliding it into the slot.
    If you're thinking "oh no, don't use superglue or vaseline", those were both suggested by tech support at the top supplier and they helped tremendously with this step.
    I hope this helps anyone else struggling with sliding the cord into the slot.

    Great instruction display for all of the general procedures, but the more difficult items were less than satisfactory from a visual point of view, which made their verbal explanation a little less understanding. At least for an old man like myself. When it comes to our learning senses, mine are more on the visual side. I’m sure that if I were to jump right in and tear things apart, things might become more evident, but on the other hand it would be nice to have a clearer picture of what I’m getting into before putting my vehicle out of service.
    All the same, A+++

    Thanks for the video...I'm in the middle of this job installing a Sierra top...I did notice you put the star washer on in the wrong order. It looks like you didn't have it touching the fabric? On mine it was screw, hook, washer, fabric. You had screw, washer, hook, fabric.

    Nice video but one important part that is missing is how to secure the bottom of the top to the B pillar. There is a strip that should be secured under the plastic piece attached to the B pillar...at 4:40 in the video you can see it by your right hand. Did you just leave it hanging? I really think that the plastic pieces should be removed from the B pillar in order to fasten this correctly.

    Great video, I realize it’s been a while, but hoping you or some of your viewers could help. I got the new top on and it’s nice and tight and looks pretty good if I say so myself….but the window trim pieces where the cable tucks in behind…my cable will not go behind the time piece towards the rear unless I physically tuck it in and then it stays in place and looks great. It almost like the cable is too long, but I know that’s not the case. I can’t figure out what I’m not doing correctly. I’ve kept it closed for about a month thinking it would form into place. I hope what I’m describing makes sense, any help would be appreciated. Thanks to all in advance!

    what year car did you change the top to a glass window? I know the 2003 started with the glass rear window, I also heard you have to change the mechanism to use a glass window, Can you put a glass window ( albeit a small window) on 2002 986?

    • @roaringtigersgarage4672
      @roaringtigersgarage4672  7 лет назад +1

      Fred,
      Yes, that thin cardboard strip must be used along the front edge of the top. This step begins at 23:14 in video 2. Unfortunately I had technical video problems at this point, and didn't catch these details on video, although it is described. Follow the provided written instructions and you will be fine. Mask everything so you don't get spray glue on your interior fabrics.
      Thanks for watching our videos. Good luck!

    • @stevenbukoski4474
      @stevenbukoski4474 3 года назад +1

      Yes, too tight. the fabric is fairly robust and intended to be exposed to substantial heat and moisture, so its not gonna soften up and slack.

    After consulting, 5 lesbian friends all agree: The Meeting and Week One is very common amongst the Gay Women World of Dating. Except (!) the "let's get married" part has been thought out, and it's not asked or agreed upon lightly. We Homos have much to learn from Lesbian Authenticity and their lack of relationship-killing FOMO.
